They think some sealed games are better for investment purposes, which i disagree as a videogame collector. Youre not gonna see a WATA-graded game unless its a game i particularly like. But then you see graded NES games going for 6 figures, sometimes in the millions. Its whack, and it makes finding used videogames more expensive
My dad let me rent these two on payday at the local gas station in the good ole days of NES and Boy Scouts. The station had VHS movies including porno in back so a 12 pack of beer with a few skin flicks while I selected a few games and the old man was happy. We had it good in those days and we liked it!
I honestly thought getting to 100 hours in one game of FF VI was a big deal but nowadays I look at my Steam acct and see 1,000+ hour games and it really shows how little I actually played as a kid.

I can see the market change for sealed NES games. As decade after decade goes on, goes an interest of other platforms besides nintendo. Atari is kinda the same, you either have atari games or have a really great atari collection. It just depend on people's interest, and im not particularly interested paying a couple grand on a sealed game, if i can get a few 'holy grails' on the ps2 for less of that price, and im refrencing the super mario bros 3 cart. It does make me wonder about future auctions involving people's insane nintendo collections?
Not only that, but I think a lot of the value is in nostalgia, and people who remember those times from living them. The number of people that value them is only going to decrease over time. It's the same as any collectibles... they go up, they go down... eventually they're garbage.
Often this occurs to me too but think of all the times you have ever had to pack up and move. Keeping them from being frozen or moldy or rummaged through. Its quite a feat to keep something in storage for thirty or forty years. The residual value of everything might not even be what it seems. You might not be as "rich" as you think.
did he say 30 hours on that game like it was a lot? lol that was an average weekend of nintendo playing when we got ours around launch time. think i had 300 hours trying to get that dumbass nes robot to work.... think we eventually blew him up with some m80s after failing to have a minute of fun with it.
I am now officially old when something from my childhood appears on Antiques Road Show...
😅👍
😂😂😂
Right there with you
Proud to be an antique myself 🙃
"We just don't see these anymore. Remarkable that you brought one in. This is called a video game, and people used to play them on consoles..."

I here ya on that one, although still having my full collection of NES still in there near mint boxes has me seeing dollar signs, lol…
Only 30hrs of play for Super Mario Bros 3?!?! Dude must have used the guide and warp whistles. To this day, still one of my favs!
100+ in digimon w/my son oops

The estimates are a bit too high on these SEAAAAAALED games.
Rather beat up, Seeeealed games.
Man, I remember back in the day when I thought 3-5k was a lot of money. That's a month's worth of bills and a carton of eggs now. 😭
Super Mario 3 is easily one of the best games ever made and one of my favorites ever
He's my favorite appraiser, always a nice dude
Y'know what else is from the 80s? That shirt! 😅
Why is my childhood on antiques roadshow FeelsBadMan
Wow, 30 hours in a game, what a gamer.

So is the art market, housing market, stocks, crypto - just how this nonsense works. That's why I put all my money into the Nukie VHS market.

I think Travis Landry's appraisal is way to high due to the condition of boxes on these sealed nes games.

That's fine I already got a free preview from Pat the NES Punk, GregTheGamer and others who actually know what they're talking about

Cool
a post without David Walker is like a beach without water ... (although that little girl is charming!)

This poor girl is getting her hopes up on some baaaaad advice from this guy. The WATA/Heritage scam has mangled the market.

Nope. Overvalued. 👎
These prices are not accurate. The auction postings are fake.
They/them seemed happy with the appraisal.
Really? You are mean to little kids on youtube? Don't try to deflect, it was meant to be mean for no reason... thats a loser thing to do.
I think she knows she's a she
"Them seemed happy with the appraisal" is grammatically incorrect. You still have to use English when describing "a female American child".
Inflated prices as usual
