I have a story Alex. I bought a 2011 Jeep a month ago. Of course, the seller was POS and I got a check engine light after driving 60 miles home. I took it to the mechanic and it was a misfire on cylinder 6. He was like "yeah just gotta replace the spark plug and coil". I was like "can you do a compression test first". He didn't see the point of doing so. I wasn't going to spend $1200 changing all spark plugs without know the health of the engine. I bought a compression gauge and I did a compression test in the Autozone parking lot. Took like 2 hours. Low compression of cylinder 6 obviously. I wasn't going to spend money on buying new head (common issue on the 3.6 as you know Alex). Sold the car to Carvana the week after and took a $2000 loss. It sucks and I really wanted a Jeep, but I'm saving my money for a 4Runner now.

I mentioned this on another video. The oil leak behind the vacuum pump on the Chevy doesn’t mean the pump is bad. The pump comes with a gasket which doesn’t usually leak but there’s also a seal that looks very much like a cam seal and that’s the seal that, in my experience, usually leaks.

im so glad ive taken the time thru the years to teach myself and learn most aspects of auto repair so i dont have to worry about someone messing up my vehicles beyond what the main issue could be. i changed my rear diff fluid and found what looked to be scratches on my ring and pinion but when i dragged my fingernail across the marks, i couldnt feel anything. i even dragged a pick across and again, felt nothing. also, its noisy at certain speeds while accelerating and the noise goes away when i let off the gas.
im pretty sure i can get away with putting a new ring and pinion in but beings im in there, im going to do all the bearings too. depending on prices i may just do an axle swap from a local junk yard.
people, this is the advantage of learning about auto repair. i get to choose my method of repair because im diagnosing the issue and im not paying thousands of dollars to someone else who might tell me i need new brakes or tires when those arent the issue.
use the internet to learn a skill and better your lives instead of turning your brains to mush constantly watching crap.

I didn’t know excellence had a color or a look. It’s Alex the car doctor not Alex the fashion doctor. He looks like a mechanic. The fact that he has more work than he can get done and people lined up with more says excellence right there. If you aren’t top notch at what you do customers aren’t going to come back. Keep doing what you do and educating the people on good mechanicing.

That's right, if you cannot prove what's wrong with the vehicle at this time, there isn't much you can do.
I would probably test the battery and alternator since a low battery can cause weird things to happen and unrelated codes. If a 5 year battery is 5 or more years old, it might be trouble. The newer vehicles now have only 3 yr batteries from the factory.
Anytime you guess, there is a greater than 75% chance you will be wrong. You can have one vehicle come in with a common issue, then have another one come in with same symptoms but has a completely different problem.
Had an F150 around that model that sometimes was a crank no start. They had already replaced the fuel pump, fuel pump module and various other parts. I noticed the drivers window wouldn't let all the way up and it was raining! The interior FUSE block was on the driver side panel on this model. It had water intrusion and fuel pump relay was built into this fuse box which is a module in itself. But I didn't just replace the fuse block. I put a test light on the inertia switch and watched it. When I cranked and it was no start, I had no power! Then I went to the fuse block. So it was 100% diagnosis bad fuse box and I was confident of this.
It's best not to do anything unless you have some sort of proof as to what the problem is.
A vacuum leak or lose intake air pipe can cause an engine to stall. Could be anything unrelated to those codes or Ford set them codes.
That brake vacuum pump I hsve changed on FOUR Ecotecs in like 8 months, and I am a mobile mechanic. That part is like $90 at the dealer.
For the f150 check the fuse for the fuel pump in the underhood fuse box. They like to melt. There’s a fuse relocation kit from ford.

Any oil leak I start with a uv dye because I have made the wrong diagnostics before. 😁
Alex, you may already know how, but if not, you should look into using a scope to do relative compression testing.

Alex, from one person that died to another. Your wife was right. You do excel in controlled chaos. Without it I would be able to be at my best. Which cars do you really like diagnosing! You like doing a misfire or a front right suspension noise or car that’s gone to three other shops and none could figure out why the car is (insert issue here). I like the intriguing diagnosis. I like the challenge. I’m pretty sure the same answer gives for you. Controlled chaos.

My Jeep shut off one time sitting in a drive through. I was sitting in line and it started sputtering and just cut off. Started back up only happened twice. To this day still don't know what caused it

I really wish you were closer to Dallas/Fort Worth here in Texas because I’m dealing with issues on my 2014 dodge charger with a 5.7 (190k miles). I had to get a re-manufactured engine because I had lifter tick and the cam lobe got chewed and when I got the car back it was running perfect but the engine builder said the fuel was running rich so he swapped the o2 sensor that was bad. But now it’s running super lean and it’s idling TERRIBLE and has like 6 EVAP leak codes and it’s misfiring. I took it to like 3-4 shops down here and threw a bunch of parts at it (plugs, injectors, fuel pump etc..) and after $10k+ later it’s just sitting in the garage. Mechanics in general are mostly terrible people to work with but you seem like a stand up dude that actually cares about mfs and would fix my headache. If you ever know of any good mechanics in the DFW area please let me know lmao 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
