Cool tutorial. I'd suggest having the displacement coordinates set to a null object (instead of local) and then animate that null moving across the screen at a linear constant pace so that the displacement looks like it's flowing through time with the music. Also having the brightness/bloom of the lines driven by the music would be cool too. Oh, and maybe even have the hue slightly driven by the music too. So many possibilities :)
@@ChinchillaByte Hey I got the first part to work, here are my steps: 1) SHIFT A --> EMPTY --> Plain Axis 2) Click our PLANE waveform that we made 3) Go to Displace Modifier that we are using 4) COORDINATES = OBJECT --> OBJECT = EMPTY ( The Plain Axis we added) * Test it out, if you move the Plain Axis (the + sign looking thing), then the waveform we made should start wobbling around! 5) Open Up Timeline --> Go to Frame 1 6) Click on the EMPTY object (the plain axis you just added) 7) Go to Right hand Side panel (the one where we added those modifiers) 8) Go to Object Properties ( It looks like an orange square, right below the World Properties) 9) Location X, Y, Z = 0 --> right click any of them and INSERT KEYFRAME 10) Go to the end of your timeline and hit right arrow once ( if you have END FRAME = 3200, then go to 3201) 11) Location X = 25 / Location Y = -100 --> right click and INSERT KEYFRAME for these values. Congratulations! Now you should have a cool moving waveform thingy. Explanation: We add an EMPTY (called Plain Axis) --> We want the PLANE (the waveform we made) to move around as our music plays. To do so, we tie the EMPTY to the DISPLACE modifier. Now when we move the EMPTY around, we are moving the displacement stuff around. Note: I'm not an expert on any of this stuff, and I'm pretty sure I used the wrong terminology (and probably too many CAPS!). But I managed to figure something out so I wanted to share it with you. Hope this helps! 💎

Little creative trick to animate the waves HORIZONTALLY (a very cool MATRIX-Movie effect): animate over time the "PHASE OFFSET" parameter of the wave texture node. Very cool (the waves look to come toward you or they get lost in the distance) :) With a little change in the "color ramp" connected to the "gradient texture" you can make the waves fade in and out (near the camera and in the distance")

Ducky 3D... great vid with some cool information/techniques... I love that I am starting to be able to 'second guess' what some of your next moves are going to be, lol... also, the compositor trick with dual connection lines will definitely be an awesome method to utilize...
When you import the audio it asks about range. By default it runs the whole range, but you can import just the low end by reducing from that 10,000 down to 500 or whatever. Try it a couple times and see if it gets it.
Great Video! But i have problem with blender 4.2: @10:46 i don´t get the color gradient in the compositing viewport.....i checked it almost 100 times and i don´t know what´s the problem.
Can we use the F curve modifier to change physics settings if we wish to animate fire+smoke according to music? Or how can we have waveform to modify physics settings ? Anyone knows ? Thanks.
I followed the tutorial and rendered it out to find the video was completely black. No idea what went wrong but I love the idea! I'll follow some more tutorials
Great tutorial like Always man! So pumped on these. Brand new blender user and feel super overwhelmed So i loved finding these achievable cool videos. At 7:43 the option for "Key" is missing. I am in the latest blender. Any idea why its missing?
Bro, I literally did everything the same, but mine looks like crap. It's the same but you can barely see the color differences, for example you couldn't even tell it was RGB and the color graphic is like 480p. Is that just my monitor or what's up with that? Pls Help

Great tutorial, but you failed to mention one thing. You never mentioned to change the audio codec. I waited 12+ hours for this animation to render on my dinosaur Lenovo, only to find out there was no audio 🙃 needless to say I need a new computer...
Add an object, change the BSDF to glossy in materials. If you're in Eevee, click shift a, add light probe -> reflection plane. Move it onto the object surface with G until the object surface becomes reflective. Then position as necessary. I've done this using a plane, following those steps. Then used G and Z to lower the reflection plane onto the plane object until it was reflective. Then I've used shift to grab the plane and the reflective plane, then rotated and positioned them together as necessary.
Can you make a video on How to make a seamless transission between 2 Looping videos? like I want my camera to go thisway that way and all but when I Merge it and throw in some transissions in After effects, I am not getting the result that I wanted :(
Cool! But it looks like the same picture is shaking. May be it could be more interesting if the waves were moving while shaking... Anyway, thanx for this finding! 😉
Is there a way to make it react like other waveforms, like in After Effects, where the frequency response is represented sequentially? Like bass toward the left, treble toward the right
As far as I know you have two options: 1. Use an equalizer to split the song into the parts that you want to react to and use those. 2. Use the animation nodes plugin instead, which does this for you. (Perhaps there are ways to have geometry nodes react to the animation nodes objects.)
How do I make it render quicker, right now it renders 1 frame per 30 seconds, and Its 5050 frames (song is 3 minutes long), plus, I have a pretty good PC, so I'm pretty sure my PC isn't the issue. Any help?
Love your tutorial! Is it possible if I can export it as fbx animation to Maya? I've been trying to do that but for some reason it's imported only with the plane mesh without animation.

We can give those RGB colour in shading color ramp ...what different in composite mode?
You definitely can do that, the color just isn’t near as vibrant in the shader nodes
Thank you! How would I extend this by adding a shiny floor and see the reflections on it?
Add an object, change the BSDF to glossy in materials. If you're in Eevee, click shift a, add light probe -> reflection plane. Move it onto the object surface with G until the object surface becomes reflective. Then position as necessary.
I've done this using a plane, following those steps. Then used G and Z to lower the reflection plane onto the plane object until it was reflective. Then I've used shift to grab the plane and the reflective plane, then rotated and positioned them together as necessary.
