I've kept an eye on this CPU locally and it has been in stock almost constantly throughout 2021 locally. In Australia it is selling for about $155 USD. Compared to roughly $230 USD for the R5 3600. So supply seems fine locally. However its value prop has obviously decreased since its launch.

Where i live, the retailers never got them. I bought a total of three of this CPU from three stores in June 2020. These orders still hasn't been been sent to me. So it's really a unicorn.
I only managed to get a 3100 but managed to push it to 4.37 ghz all core and beat out the 7700k by about 180pts in cinebench and pretty much matching it in games. and at 70cad or 50 USD I got a great deal
I wanted to get this chip for my mother's PC last year, but when I saw the prices, I figured I'd just give her my "old" 2600X and upgrade to a 2700X instead as soon as the prices on the "grey market" came down a bit. She now has a six core processor just for browsing the web but that's how we roll.
I picked one up last month for $150 on eBay. It was in a brand new retail box with cooler sealed but from Korea. The listing was ambiguous because it only said "new" I had no idea it was a new retail version in box. Since I only use it for gaming this was the obvious choice for me and it was better than spending $220 on a 3600. I would only get this CPU if only use is for gaming and workloads are not taken into consideration.
I was able to pre order one at near MSRP and I put it in my nephews gaming PC, it works well but I have never seen it at anywhere near a reasonable price since
For my primary desktop (gaming and productivity - office, web-dev, some audio/video) I got a 3700x for just under MSRP (codes/cashback) at launch (I upgraded my 1600x on an x370 board from 2017) and loved it. Very impressed at the time for the price. Zero complaints since. Mid last year, I was looking for an upgrade to my i5 3470 based HTPC and I wanted to get a one of these 3300x models, as they looked like such good value, but they weren't in stock anywhere. I ended up getting an R3 3100 and an A320 board for £10 more than the price of the 3300x. Added a cheap 500gb nvme and 16gb of 3200 cl16 which worked at xmp out of the box. Frankly, it's been stellar for the price, and my housemate has been using it as his primary PC for coding and web-dev recently. They're little workhorses with decent ram and storage. It's handled all games I've thrown at it on my 4k60 TV, as my main desktop takes care of Cyberpunk. Everything else has been great on the little trooper, as it only needs to do 60fps and on cinematic, couch-games. As much as I wanted the extra 10% in clocks and latency of the 3300x, it would have cost me 40-50% more in the end. Eventually I'll swap the 3700x into the a320 HTPC build (microATX) and sell off the 3100 and x370 (ATX) in time to upgrade my main system to AM5 or equivalent (DDR5), where I'll go big with a 16c/32t 64gb monster. The ability for this process of conscious downcycling is the single best advantage of AM4's platform in the end for me.
Bought this around August when it suddenly appeared in a local shop (middle EU). It is practically uses the same methods as the new gen, just on 4 cores and despite me going for it as a filler until the 5000 series, I got fond of it and ended up holding on to it - especially after founding out it's unique manufacturing process and overall mythical nature later. This chip delivers 3700x level of performance in certain titles, so for a gaming build, the value is just unbeatable. Paired it with an rtx 2060 itx card (was also considered a rare find even before the gpu shortage) and got a small jewelry box of technology:)
It's a great cpu. It was tough to find, more than my hunt for 5950X. But because my brother wanted to upgrade his 1600X as he streams, it was must. And great thing was, we built the 1600 based system on its launch and just be able to update bios and swap is so good. His gigabyte ab350 gaming 3 still holds great, tuned the PBO, and voila..
Thank you for being one of the few techtubers that has managed to come to terms with the reality of the current market. I swear there are guys with PC gaming YT channels that constantly cry out PC gaming is dead and actively encourage their audiences to give up on PC hardware and leave PC gaming. Then they complain about their views being down. Smh. But you have it figured out Mr. Salazar. You are actually living in reality. Lol
I have an interesting story about this story about this CPU, about 12 months about I was building a cheap B550M system and it started with great Black Friday deal on a TUF B550M motherboard, on Ebay I won a 3100 that the seller email and said it was really a 4100, but after waiting long then normal for the CPU to travel I any up getting a 3300X and don't feel any did to upgrade, it support PCI x 4 until the other CPUs. Know idea what happen at the sellers end but it made my budget build that much better. Someday 4 cores won't be enough, but thanks to products like the Steam Deck 4 core still go strong. Disclamier Spelling isn't my strony point and leaving comments on RUclips and Facebook is only for self improvement.
I built my first PC mid2020, and I was lucky to get this CPU in my country...later, my 5600x stopped working (PCIE 4.0 exactly), and got again a 3300x. Its the best value-performance CPU I have ever used. It exists.
very good cpu for budget gaming PC, i pairing with 3060 and still get great performance without feel any bottleneck issues. the price in my country (Indonesia) is around $135 - $150 and availability its okay
this CPU is a myth, I never saw it in stock ANYWHERE. I managed to find the 3100 at the regular 99$ from amazon, and i remember soon after i bought it the price hiked to like 300$ dollars. I cant complain not getting a 3300x instead, i feel i dodged a giant bullet with pricing.
I got mine back in Jul-2020 for $120 when every one were asking for 3600X. Back then I just grab whatever was available. Man, this little one is a rocket! 😆
Actually clearly better IPC than Coffee Lake that's why it easily beats a 7700K. 3300X is so good that it is comparable to Zen 3. It basically is like Zen 2.5 both performance wise and technically.
I wouldn't put it in the same boat as Zen 3. Zen 3 was a radical improvement. The 3300X is great, but not Zen 3 great. And in our tests, it doesn't "easily beat the 7700K." Traded blows, sure. And while the i7's clocks were higher, the 3300X simply isn't capable of frequencies approaching 5GHz on air like that of its Intel counterpart.
@@GregSalazar I'm referring performance wise to a benchmark of Gamers Nexus back then, which had way more tests and data. And I didn't say it is like Zen 3, I said it is comparable to Zen 3 and named it Zen 2.5, which is pretty accurate imo. Else, explain to me why it is so easily comparable to a 3700X or even faster in games, and usually beats a 7700K. Again referring to Gamers Nexus. And clocks? Nobody cares, performance is everything that matters. Overclocking isn't that important or relevant for the majority of people and Zen gets a lot through that as well in the region of memory tuning. Again, Gamers Nexus did a thorough test with everything including OC/memory optimization and compared it to everything, I'm only referring to their data. Zen 3 had "radical improvements " in the sense of unified cores. The 3300X is exactly that, because it doesn't do any inter-connect communication, it is basically unified. Hence why the 3100 sucks comparably. I dont have to explain this to you, but you had to say that Zen 3 is radically different, which simply isn't true. Not compared to a 3300X. If and when AMD releases a 5300X we will see what the difference is, but it will be smaller IPC wise I would bet, compared to other products like 3700X vs 5800X etc. The big upside of Zen 3 is when you use the big CPUs because of the unification and also the clearly higher average clocks. Take away both upsides and I bet the 5300X won't be that much faster, maybe 10%, same clocks. But it is kinda unlikely that AMD will release a 5300X anytime soon, at least not for that price. The funny thing is, the 5300X would not be any different performance wise to a 5100, the only difference would be clocks.
I bought it for 125 $ last September. Its in my system right now and has handled everything I've thrown at it very well. It doesnt even need a special cooler guys. Its running in mid 70s for pretty much all my gaming sessions on a stock cooler. Its probably going to stay there for coming future. I plan to upgrade the bare bone 1650 I could get my hands on with a 2060 and this will probably handle it no problem
I got one in June 2020 for $205 aussie dollarydoos (about US$140) , no regrets. It goes like a little 4cyl turbo hot hatch, gives the bigger 6 cyls a run for their money.
Been waiting on another video about MY CPU for a year . Got mine overclocked to 4.4 at 1.3v on a noctua nhu12s cooler . THANKYOU SO MUCH . Ps. Haven't even watched yet
I have one in my main rig. Bought for MSRP, though in Canada. Zero issues as it's for gaming, browsing and office. It's still a killer CPU for the (base) price
I have bought it and yes its great! Especially for gaming. Though when it comes to multi tasking with 4 cores today, you can easily reach a limit. (I reach 100% cpu usage for playing minecraft w/ shaders, and a minimum of 12 chunk render, while watching a youtube livestream). If you use multi monitors and plan to multi task and not just focus on the gaming part AND a want a better headroom for future proofing. Ryzen 7 3700x has the best value for your money IMO.
I wanted one of these at £120.00 in the UK it was never available. Managed to snag a 3600X for £187 last year, £1 more than the 3600 at time of purchase following a bunch of price rises.
Not msrp but Asian markets such as China and South Korea seem to have gotten quite a few of them. Looking up the 3300x on aliexpress and ebay right now seems to get you sellers with these in stock shipping from those 2 former countries.
I was desperately trying to buy a 3300X back in October 2020 but I couldn't find one in my country. Hence, I decided to buy a 3600XT, and boy oh boy am I so glad I did that.
Apparently they all migrated to South Korea. Bought one for my friend which came to $210 CAD total which is about ~$80 cheaper than a 3600 with a good sale and likely still cheaper than it's even been when listed on Canadian retailers. Seeing as how it's only being paired with a 1060 3GB I picked up on the market it would likely just be a waste of money especially when WoW is essentially the only game she plays.
In my country is already price the same with a 3600 and an i5 10400f so the 3300x is not a good option to have when you got others but 3100 is still a good option hehe
It was in stock last month or so in Switzerland for around 155Sfr. (~$164) while you could get a 10400f for around 134Sfr. (~$145). Nice chip but the price to performance isn't there anymore even when it's in stock.
Back in February when they were available here, it costs just 25ish dollars less than a 10400F and a ridiculous 70% more than the 10100F. We lived to see Intel as the budget option, my god
Couldn’t find one a while back, but the 3600x was $195 new, so I got that. Eventually found a 3900x for $300, so I built another computer. Currently building a pc for my son, and could only find a 3700x in stock, but it was only $300 at Best Buy, so I’m not upset.

This chip is amazing still and get the gaming done. Overclocked at high voltage that is...
Was going to get this CPU when it got announce but hot damn the pc shop at our town won't sell me one unless it's bundle with MoBo, which jacked up the price for me and I didn't even need the extra baggage. Sadge that I'm still stuck with my 2200G up to this day.
i was original planing a 2 in 1 system early last year. With a 3300X and a 3950X CPU. But yeah 3300X was imposible to get and then the virus came and locked the world down. Had to give up on that project. However now i have a 5600X and 5950X ready to install. When i get the last parts i need.
@5:35 Off course, they are always people who think X, Y and Z. In this case I think most people don't get anything wrong here. They are simply not willing to pay more, unless they really have to. MSRP is a reference for perceived value. :) @7:55 They sell for more, that is for sure. Unless the market is upside down.
im using 3100, bought for 90€ oc @4,2ghz and with GTX1070 its the best 1080p ultra gaming rig. Its really ballanced, temps are about 65C with Arctic Freezer 34. great budget PC combo
I don't think amd made that many all things considered. I mean who wouldn't use those fully activated CCXs in higher margin products, if the entire chiplet was active or it could be passed as a ryzen 5
So if retailers don't meet the "Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price", then doesn't that look bad on the manufacturer for telling us this price in their official conference/product announcement, and thus wouldn't they want to penalize certain retailers for not trying to meet their set starting price by maybe reducing or even delaying their next shipment of said product to get their point across(Nvidia you know I'm talking about you)?
Some 3300X CPUs have come back in stock at Newegg and B&H for $150 , makes me wonder if they just came out of a warehouse someplace or if they are still being made?
Saw this 4 core CPU $120, the 6 core 3600 $190, and 2600X $89. I went 2600X and it turned out to be late manufactured gold binned. Ican OC to 4.3GHz soundly beating 3600 stock CPU-Z scores easily. The numbers dont show the 4 core has a frame time issue causing severe stutter in new core demanding games like Cyberpunk.
Going for $145 now. Not quite the launch price, but cheap enough for it to be worth it now imo. Unfortunately still can’t find the 3100 for anywhere near its proper price

I've kept an eye on this CPU locally and it has been in stock almost constantly throughout 2021 locally. In Australia it is selling for about $155 USD. Compared to roughly $230 USD for the R5 3600. So supply seems fine locally. However its value prop has obviously decreased since its launch.
Really really blessed to get the 3300x last year at MSRP when it just launched.
Nice 👍
Thank you for explaining this, always wondered about the binning for those.
I appreciate you saying "multi-threading" and not "Hyper-threading" like some RUclipsrs are still doing when referring to AMD CPU's. That needs to be acknowledged.

Prices are so crazy here in Canada...
I buy it (3300x) last week.
For 152$
Overclocked on 4.5ghz 1.36v
With gamaax 400 white.
And it perform very well
Sure 👍 so powerfull
Good video, I've never built an AMD system before I have a 2 year old I9 9900K this seems like a great deal at MSRP
The i9 ain't no slouch man.
I was able to pre order one at near MSRP and I put it in my nephews gaming PC, it works well but I have never seen it at anywhere near a reasonable price since
Microcenter has them right now for $119. Tustin, CA location has 25+ in stock!
I literally got it like 1 day after the release didn't even know they were so rare, lmao. It's still in my pc and it's quite amazing ngl
Guess I was lucky enough to snag this at MRSP at launch. Hopefully more gamers can get their hands on this beast.
So happy I got this at msrp at launch
ryzen really shook up the pc market in just 3 main generations
Thank you for being one of the few techtubers that has managed to come to terms with the reality of the current market. It's a breath of fresh air to see videos about things are are still important without constantly whining about mining and GPU prices and pointing fingers everywhere.
It exists.
roll's mouse over thumbnail, preview shows Greg shaving.... that poor cpu!
very good cpu for budget gaming PC, i pairing with 3060 and still get great performance without feel any bottleneck issues.
the price in my country (Indonesia) is around $135 - $150 and availability its okay
serius gk bonek bg ?
this CPU is a myth, I never saw it in stock ANYWHERE.
I got mine when it came out for $120 CAD. Still going strong...
The 3100, the newest ones are capable of holding 4.6ghz at lower voltage, mine 1.3v
It's so insane this cpu holds up to 3060ti without a problem. One of my favourite purchases ever!
I bought a 1600af right before these came out. Still a incredible deal at $85
I wanted one of these at £120.00 in the UK it was never available.
LITERAL FACTS IVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG
There was drop thru Amazon at MSRP about 15-17 days ago, and lasted a couple of days. I was able to get it and have it on hand.
In my country is already price the same with a 3600 and an i5 10400f
so the 3300x is not a good option to have when you got others but 3100 is still a good option hehe
It was in stock last month or so in Switzerland for around 155Sfr. (~$164) while you could get a 10400f for around 134Sfr. (~$145). Nice chip but the price to performance isn't there anymore even when it's in stock.
I bought one recently from Walmart, sold by Walmart, of all places for MSRP. It will be fun to mess around with, and use for testing.
Since the begining of the shortage, I've shotdown my main computer that have a 3800X, 32gb of ram and a RTX 2070 (for fear of breaking it) and daily my 3100 chip with a 1650 non-super that I got at MSRP at the time.
Sadge that I'm still stuck with my 2200G up to this day.
man my dream budget cpu. and until now no stocks.
I built my system around the 3300x that I bought from newegg for $149us August 2021. now on sale for $333.16us wow doubled in 3 months
i was original planing a 2 in 1 system early last year. With a 3300X and a 3950X CPU. But yeah 3300X was imposible to get and then the virus came and locked the world down. Had to give up on that project. However now i have a 5600X and 5950X ready to install. When i get the last parts i need.
Yea I preordered before the launch date and nothing for the next 6 months. I ended with a 1600af for 90 and later upgraded to a I7 9700 for 200
@5:35 Off course, they are always people who think X, Y and Z. In this case I think most people don't get anything wrong here. They are simply not willing to pay more, unless they really have to. MSRP is a reference for perceived value. :)
@7:55 They sell for more, that is for sure. Unless the market is upside down.
I bought it a month ago for 150usd. Paired with legendary gtx 1060. Motherboard is asrock b550m steel legend for upgrading in the future
im using 3100, bought for 90€ oc @4,2ghz and with GTX1070 its the best 1080p ultra gaming rig. Its really ballanced, temps are about 65C with Arctic Freezer 34. great budget PC combo
I don't think amd made that many all things considered. I mean who wouldn't use those fully activated CCXs in higher margin products, if the entire chiplet was active or it could be passed as a ryzen 5
I think the 10100f was just the better move because of avalibity but great video!
In my country , it was always for around 160 - 170 $ . though now 3100 goes for 150 .
At 120 bucks it's the 10400F imo. You could buy the i5 for several months at that price, at least in Europe.
Wow, I didn't realised that I have a unicorn in my rig. 😄
My first PC included a 3300x which i bought at msrp. Recently upgraded to a new system with a 5600x and sold the old system to a friend at a drastically reduced price 👍 Performance was pretty good
I recently bought my son a “used” new built gaming pc and was wondering if you did any recommendations on how good stuff is. I have all the specs and did some homework and from what I seen I did save money compared to building it with the same components myself but still don’t know if it will be good enough or if you’d have any suggested upgrades
I recently bought one bundled with a gigabyte a320m as I'm modernising my system, never knew these were so hard to come by :0
Realistically, the 3300X was not only competing for dies with Ryzen 5 and 7, but also with the EPYC SKUs that use 1 CCX per die, or 1 core per CCX.
Is it good or no i go to buy it tomorrow
Ryzen 3 3300x
funny you touch on 3300X...I bought one the other day here in Australia...for equivalent of 110 usd :)
