Sad that Best Motoring is no more =(
Thanks for keeping their legacy alive.
Legacy.....subaru legacy...ba dum psss.
The Evos simply destroy the opposition in almost all the battles. So sad to see that nameplate die a horrible death.
This is the essence of what Gran Turismo 1 2 and 3 were. Thank you for sharing this !
Three turbo cars vs two naturally aspirated Honda Preludes....Gimme a Prelude anyday. They held their own.
+Alex Levy the prelude was so far behind-- if you mean holding last place then YES the prelude held its own in last-
+Eric Chacone pretty sure the euro R accord would be a closer match.
Two cars from a different class and one modded car.
Love how you added the explanation to the nascar driver comment
You‘re an angel miroshi
That fucking WRX in the last lap tho, savage af trying that gutter run techinque
Loved my 5th gen Prelude, the H22 makes a nice sound and steering was responsive. Wouldnt want it as a track car though.
I tracked my 4th Gen 4WS. A lot of fun! I impressed a lot of people in it.
Ideal track car? Definitely not. But very capable and fun. To date, my favorite car.
I'm still waiting for the Prelude to come back I loved the 5th gen and 3rd gen looks
While I know that back in the day the preludes where not the best car you cannot denied that the car looks good
Watching this makes me want to take out my Impreza P1 for a good hoon!
An Evo with differential issues along with losing oil, and it still held first. That's "Imprezive" (bad pun intended).
+Dr. Mario Touche!
A brand new Evo leaking oil and having differential issues is not impressive however.
number 4 was a jzx100 mark 2 not a chaser. pretty easy to tell from the tail lights.
much the same car just exterior wise slightly different.
love watching these old best motoring videos though :)
The Japanese are so cool when it comes to cars we don't have any shows like this just fanboy Chevy and Ford shitbox shows
Awesome video
The type s prelude weighs 2888lbs (1310kg) and makes 217hp not heavy or under power in its class. It does have crappy tires in comparison, every other car has better tires on.
Also how was the clutch slipping on the red prelude? But all of a sudden it was fine afterwards? And it had coilovers and better tires then the stock black one 🤦.
What do you think?
2019 and I still watch these old videos
thank you for this
the sound of the s14 is lovely❤️
i have a 93 prelude.i took everthing i could out the car
So nostalgic... anymore all these new cars just have the ability to drive in a straight line fast... and nothing much else... so many sensors and dodads... old fashioned racing was two feet and two hands... a clutch and a manual transmission and lots of nerve!!!
Sti and evo always the main fight to watch
should have put an s2000 in there to avenge the Hondas
S2000 wasn't produced yet in 1997.
+Irfan Handono oh wow I didn't even notice the year lol thanks
With a Time machine?
Maybe not officially out for the public but the concept was out by 97 or before 😆
shows the potential of the s chassis
Silvia won time attack against turbo awd and the imfamous type r Hype car
The Prelude is one of those cars that needs modification to be competitive. It just doesn't measure up in stock form. A little weight reduction, an ATB, a bit stiffer suspension, and a turbo or supercharger.
Wonder how 4ws models would handle
i wonder how the sh model prelude would do woth that weird torque transmission
It says the Prelude is a Type-S, which means it has the ATTS torque transfer system just like the SH, except the Type-S came with 20 more horsepower than SH.
best motoring - the boys breaking gearboxes since the 80s haha wtf
+1
5th gen ludes were just so dang heavy
that song at the beginning sounded a lot like a certain iron maiden track
Lap times would be great I bet that S14 put down a fast one
Preludes are very heavy still a very good car.
@Vinny Booboo they are 3000 pounds
@Vinny Booboo brochures say 2950 to 3042.
Are you getting the numbers out of your butt or what
@@henrylima6974 you just disproved your self by saying it's not 2800 lbs. Are you pulling numbers out of your butt?
@@carpenter3461 what are you talking about?
They are not 2800 pounds, I got the numbers straight from the honda manuals you numbnuts
@@henrylima6974the type s prelude weighs 2888 lbs (1310kg)
this became a useless race when I saw the evo and the impreza, done deal from the start
Evo FTW again!
Good Video But Kinda unfair Race
WIsh we could see prelude with 4ws racing
How do I get video links off at the end?
are they all stock?
Yes, except the s14
That Impreza had 250 hp, or i'm wrong?
Turbo vs N/A again 😢😞
I would have rather seen them compare with 240sx then 4wd evo
+thunderup86 240sx's are shit they didn't even have them in japan boyo
Yet you put the video ads right over the time results at the end. Fail.
prelude is a good daily car. definitely not a track car its way too heavy.
😅😅😅
It weighs as much as silvia so what gives
What's the model of the subaru ?
LeonardoValente 95 version 3 WRX STi
1997 Ver 3 Sti
Poor evo
That hissing sound from the S14 is annoying af
...the turbo...? Lol
Such wasted opportunity with the prelude, needed to be rear wheel and not NA
Prelude is french for gay man's car. I took Italian I would know.
Nice to have Preludes in the company to see how they do, it's rare to see them raced. They are more rounded cars, not uncompromised track weapons. Still great cars.
Agreed. I have a fifth gen Type SH (American neutered version of the Type S) and it isn't meant to be the fastest thing in the world. I suppose that's why they weren't very popular with tuners since they were pretty heavy cars. Still, "luxury sports coupe" fits it so well. I'm personally a big fan of the Prelude's styling
Gustavo Castillo I have an 01 Prelude 5 speed, leather interior, love the car but it has a bad 63/37 weight distribution. It still handles and corners pretty good but it ain’t no S2000 or Integra type R. I just rolled over 160 thousand kms on it because I only drive it a few months a year. My 92 Civic SI hatch is my work/winter car to keep my lude in nice shape. Greetings from British Columbia
@@Whateva67 01 5 speed with leather interior here also, i seriously cant get enough of this car!
@@ericleal4931 Hi! Do you still have your Prelude? I just bought a 1997 base on October 1st, 2022. I LOVE the car. I get so many compliments on it. It's funny that this video popped up in my recommendations because I literally just got back from dropping my lude off to have the Apexi Noir Exhaust out on. Lol.
love all the videos, thx for posting!
+The Opinionator yeah me to, and i keep watching :))
Keep the awesome videos coming please!
Great video thank you. Too bad the driver in the prelude really messed up the first lap.😕
Not exactly, Prelude was the slowest and that's a fact.
Thesis heaviest. Great engine but heavy As hell.
I don't know that I would call 3000lbs heavy as hell
モーターとは、原動機のコト。
間違って無いっすよ、神谷さん。
日本人が、モーター=電動機と思い違いしているだけ。
The days of great cars are gone.
You can still buy a:
Subaru WRX STi
Honda Civic Type R FK8
Mazda Miata MX-5 ND
Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86
Nissan GT-R R35
Toyota/BMW Supra MK5
Preludes did not sell well in japan, due to car classification and insurance costs.
i love this :D
integra always b winning this shit

The Japanese lean towards more on power to weight ratio than horsepower it seems.
6:38 "initial D" the only thing that I got after cars name lol
Golden era of Japanese cars :)
Can't beat forced induction 🏁🗾🚗
hatorri missed shifts lol...
Do the cars come with those tires from the factory over there?
Yes
Wounded Evo beats an sti? Surprised? Nope evos have always been superior. The only reason stis are still being made is because people buy them for looks rather then performance which is stupid.
Mikey likes video games
That reasoning for the STI still being made is the dumbest one I've ever heard. It wasn't the better driving car or the sounds, not the fact that the interior is phenomenal. What about the fact that its one of the best track cars on the market. No no, its the looks.
Mikey likes video games Pretty sure the car here was an impreza not an sti too.
What? It's true. Non car people always pick the better looking car. So that means that the lan evo didn't sell as well.
And better driving? Seriously? Not a chance. Jeremy clarkson And Tanner Foust will both tell you differently. And if anybody knows what they're talking about it's them. The only reason the sti sold was because it was more pretty. I know this because when I was in the fanboy stage I loved the sti until I realized that I didn't do any research on both cars whatsoever.
Mikey likes video games What non car people buy a manual only car. Evo didn't sell as well probably due to it not being a good daily, horrifying interior. Don't get me wrong, I would buy an evo, evo 9 especially but theyre mostly beaten to death or not stock.
prelude should have came with a b series hydro 4.4 transmission from the factory,it would be way quicker.
lol no. B series has no torque and preludes need torque to get their fat ass moving.
crazysandwich lol yes..Its proven in every form possible that h2b swaps are much faster then full H 22 swap.
It would be the same exact thing in a prelude chassis.
again, no. H2b swap is faster because b series trans have closer ratios. but if you were to put a b series engine in a prelude it wouldnt be faster at all lol
oh nvm, i misread your comment, i thought you were speaking of the engine, not only the trans ! my bad :P
Trust me h2b is WAY faster.
I'm a h series and h2b guru. I know the setup inside and out and have owned a full H swap setup and h2b swap setup and prelude as well all cam'd and tuned.
A prelude with a b16 transmission on it vs a prelude with a h22 gear box the b16 transmission setup will put cars on the full H setup.
