Bánh Khọt is one of the special food in vungtau where is my hometown.. I hope you can taste bánh bông lan trứng muối ( small cupcake witj salted duck egg) .. this is a famous dessert in Vt.

Sonny, 10 thumbs up on your perspective about VN dining experience (even street food) being more interactive (with food and people) at VN meals. I get a big kick out of your description of a typical dining out in the US, but you forgot about the mandatory 15% - 18% tip for the phony smile and gratuitous name introduction. BTW, for those that haven't been to VN, you can't imagine how "fresh" is fresh, we're talking about vegetable or fruit that was picked tree ripened probably that morning or 2 days ago, not shelf ripened. Ikr, Vietnamese foods are interestings, assembling whatever you like and adjusing the tastes (sweet, salty, sour, spicy) according to your preferences.

I've been watching them all, but there's a thing I want to add; I want you explain more about what you think about the food you eat, maybe give it a score out of 10, or do you like it or not... I can see your friend in this video he likes it a lot when he says he'd take 10 orders home, but I can't feel how much you like this Banh Khot. Beside that, your video is good as usual, and you're funny too :D
Vung Tau is my hometown .... and you are absolutely right, nowhere you can find banh kho is that good.....though the place you visited is a bit overkill in term of oil being used.
There's another type of banh khot with coconut milk and green beans you should try. Maybe do a comparison between the two. BTW love the content of your videos.

The reason why we eat banh xeo or banh khot with greens is because in order to get to that level of crispiness we use alot of cooking oil to fry it, so if you just eating it alone youre not gonna want to eat alot because its really greasy and oily, but if you add a little bit of greens and papaya it will make the foods taste more refreshing. Also it's good to have greens in your meal anyways so youre getting all the nutrition your body need.

If you have a chance to visit Nha Trang, i highly recommend you a local dish called "bánh căn". It looked a little bit like " bánh khọt", but trust me, it is much more delicious.

October 1966. Vung Tau was the first land I stepped on in Vietnam after our 3 week journey by ship with the 4th Infantry Division.
This gem of yours makes me miss home so much. It's true you can't find banh khot as good elsewhere in the country.
