As in the game isn't hard to learn on a basic level, so beginners can fight each other with some level of competency and even figure out small combos on their own by experimenting. I don't know what this Shen Long combo is you're talking about, and I did look for it, but that doesn't matter. I wasn't claiming the game lacked depth, if that's why you brought that up.
It's the only fighting game I can play with my brother because he refuses to learn moves in 2d fighting games and he isn't a fan of Tekken, but he's actually pretty good in BR games It's a shame there isn't a fighting game as simple and fun as BR games nowadays

Man, I remember loving this series so much when I was younger. In 3, they had so much more personality with their expressions and fighting stances and just generally had better models. PF definitely gave some of the characters some nice design upgrades, but then took 2 steps backwards like with Yugo and his beast drive. It would be nice to see the series get some love again with a new game.
I didn't like BR3 as I started playing BR PM first. BR3 isn't better as a whole than PM, for example the OST is more nervous in PM. PM has the DNA of bloody roar when I played it in 1998 !

I have very mixed feelings about it all. Some characters had better beast designs in BR3 while their normal forms looked better in BR4, and then its the other way around for a few other characters. Like Yugo and Gados normal forms looked better in BR4 but they had better beast designs in BR3 And then theres Busuzima that just looks 100% desirable no matter what.
Not Alice! her new personality is just ewww, same with the design. They took away her original aesthetics.. I wish the new Alice was a new character while keeping her original design. Could've been like Xiaoyu and Miharu.

I think the engine and environment was an upgrade but some character, clothes and beast form are a combination of upgrade and downgrade. Obviously Bloody Roar 3 looked like it was made with more passion and devotion, their idle animation speaks volumes. I think BR4 only looked good cause of the new automation tools for newer game designers, In short, I feel like they only did the bare minimum, even with newer technology. The only thing I can give credit BR4 for is the color correction or color harmony and some skin tones.
And the proportions of the Beast forms are kind of better in 4. Long and Shenlong's beast forms look better in 4 when their heads and neck are properly placed and not just smushed into their shoulders. Though I'll admit they slacked on the textures. 3 has more fur-like textures.

If I could get a remake; I would have it be BR3 with BR2 getting some kinda HD/Model updated version. I never actually got to play BR3 myself. Only 1, 2, 4 and Primal Fury. Dude same! I had my hopes up back in 2020. I only played 2 & 3. 3 is what got me into fighting games in general, I remember being blown away as a kid by the transformations. With the resurgence that fighting games have had you’d think this is the time for a remake, even typically niche fighting games like Guilty Gear gained a ton of popularity. The reason BR 4 seems a bit inferior to BR 3 is because Hudson (the game's developer) went into a financial crisis. Seeing the need to seek new financing alternatives, Hudson Soft entered the stock market where Konami bought 5.6 million shares, becoming the majority shareholder. Years later Konami started the development of BR 4 for Playstation 2, the problem that this game had was having recycled the designs of BR Prymal Fury (Extreme in Japanese) that was released for the Nintendo GameCube. I have two theories as to why this. The first is that because the Nintendo console was much more powerful than the PS2, they had to downgrade so that it would not have any problems on the console. And the second theory is that they simply wanted to get out of the game by simply making money without trying too hard.
I don't like the fact that BR4 has a forcefield around the stages. ( they were already small to begin with ) No ring outs also hurts the gameplay a bit. If Hudson had a bit more time, I'm sure that the game could've been as good as BR2.
I like this because it clearly gives everybody a look on how drastically they changed Alice. I still remember playing 3 and doing combos and etc with her and then 4 came in and i thought they cut her cause she looked like and acted like a complete different character lol I prefer her in 4, she looks less ''anime-ish'' and acts in a less ridiculous way (for some reason they made her over the top with that in 3 compared to other entries). Some models look better in 3 and some look better in 4, but all of them give nostalgia, i really miss Bloody Roar.
We need a reboot of the series, BR 2 was a solid and fun fighting game back in the ps2 era, 3 was an improved sequel and primal fury is probably the best one

I think they got the beast names for Uriko backwards. In BR4 it's "Uriko the cat" but in BR3 it's "Half-beast" BR4's Uriko looks more like half a beast (to me) than a cat due to the more humanoid facial features. I think they should've switched the titles.

Man, I love Yugo's wild SSJ like hair in 3's beast form, and how his fur puffs out of his gloves. I do like 4's design too, but it should've kept those aesthetics. I do like that they improve the foot structure of some models like Long compared to 3, in 3 he sorta looked like something you'd see on a stuffed doll or something. If they ever make a new game, I do hope Alice gets a revamp in design. I feel like it got too bunny like in 4, losing that 'cool' appeal it had in the previous games. Oh, and they should bring back the Fox in some form.
BR 3 has less polygons, but they have way more personality. BR4 took away the best outfits. I liked BR4 new fighting mechanics but a lot of things about the game seemed cheap. Why did they take away the double duck?

Did they ever say what would happen to Yugo when there's a full Moon? As I know he has a line where he says "Just be grateful it's not a full moon" or words to that expression.
I always wondered why Extreme and 4 felt like a downgrade compared to 3. Yugo, Long or Shenglong beast forms look awesome and had better textures in 3. Even with that there're things I prefer from Extreme/4 like some chars faces.
BR3 aimed for more "realism" it came out in the early days of the ps2 when everyone tried to shine. The later installments have a different artstyle and look way more anime and stylized than BR3 look at marvel/shina she looks horrible after BR3. BR3 is visuals and gameplay wise my favourite br installment I miss that IP.
Was never a fan of the hunchback tigers from 3, and I do prefer Long’e new costume too, but Yugo definitely got worse because he looks LESS realistic somehow
This game is such a vague memory in my childhood. We weren't really allowed to have multiple game consoles growing up (or upgrade, until a certain point), but my dad's friend would bring over his Playstation 2 and Primal Fury was one of the games he had. I always played as Alice because I thought her bunny form was cute. Looking at the comparisons, it's hard to say one is better than the other overall. 3 has some better textures and beast designs (Yugo for instance. What were they thinking for 4?). But some of the beast forms in 4 have better proportions, like Long's head and neck being more properly mounted on his body instead of looking like a hunchback in 3. I'm shocked that this game hasn't been picked up again to release a new installment (or at least a port). A furry fighting game during this time would draw such a huge crowd; heck I know I'd play it. But also I'm afraid of the censorship we'd be seeing, too. They'd censor Jenny's beast form for sure, which would be dumb.
Primal Fury was one of my favorite fighting game on the gamecube, next to Soul Calibur 2 because it had Link in it. Xion being my main because of the dope Unborn beast mode.

I’ve been playing bloody roar since bloody roar 2 so I’m pretty sure I have a good grasp of what models sticks out more than the other and how one model looks more inverted than there previous counterpart.

I always was curious as to why they made Alice ultra fluffy in 4. I mean I guess that's "anatomically correct" for a rabbit, but she was fine as she was and other characters had a similar mix between human and animal in their design. Just weird that they randomly went "Let's go full rabbit". In fact the more I watch through this, the more I think I know why. Seems they wanted to tone down the sex appeal? All the other female characters are a bit more clothed, especially in their beast forms (Alice just being fluff). Huh.

Not gonna lie, I'm working on a comic book series based on Human-Beast concept too. The script is almost ready, but I'm stuck in a dilemma of sorts since the Script is perfect for an RPG game with tactics based battle system. Comic or Game or Both?
Wait....im confused, why do some things look way better in 3? One of the first times im actually looking at 3 tbh, Primal Fury is the only BR ive ever owned and played so im only familiar with that one and have seen images of some of the low poly ones. Just at the start i like Yugo's 3 stance more than PF's(and his beast form looks really nice too but idm the design in PF either)
I get what they were tryna do, making the characters look more cartoony in 4, but honestly, this feels like one of those rare moments where tryna make it MORE stylized didnt work out
It's been really sad seeing so many of them go away. Tekken,Bloody Roar,DOA,Soul Calibur all were special to me growing up. They all offered something different too. Tekken/DOA approach & core was completely different from one another. Soul Calibur was the weapon fighter & Bloody Roar was the beast fighter. It was also one of the first 3D games to have supers and not include it in a stupid manner. Now pretty much Tekken is the only one left standing. DOA & Soul Calibur sadly finally fell off it seems.

Also, I think the art direction for 3 was to make more real-life-looking designs. and also theres another detail i find interesting, in 3 the necks of most beast forms are portruded forward and closer to the chest, oposite to the more human-like projection of the neck in 4

Man, I love Yugo's wild SSJ like hair in 3's beast form, and how his fur puffs out of his gloves. I do like 4's design too, but it should've kept those aesthetics. I do like that they improve the foot structure of some models like Long compared to 3, in 3 he sorta looked like something you'd see on a stuffed doll or something.
If they ever make a new game, I do hope Alice gets a revamp in design. I feel like it got too bunny like in 4, losing that 'cool' appeal it had in the previous games. Oh, and they should bring back the Fox in some form.
BR 3 has less polygons, but they have way more personality. BR4 took away the best outfits. I liked BR4 new fighting mechanics but a lot of things about the game seemed cheap. Why did they take away the double duck?
4 just looks like something they just threw together. 3 looks like someone actually put time into it

I always wondered why Extreme and 4 felt like a downgrade compared to 3. Yugo, Long or Shenglong beast forms look awesome and had better textures in 3. Even with that there're things I prefer from Extreme/4 like some chars faces.
BR3 aimed for more "realism" it came out in the early days of the ps2 when everyone tried to shine. The later installments have a different artstyle and look way more anime and stylized than BR3 look at marvel/shina she looks horrible after BR3. BR3 is visuals and gameplay wise my favourite br installment I miss that IP.
Was never a fan of the hunchback tigers from 3, and I do prefer Long’e new costume too, but Yugo definitely got worse because he looks LESS realistic somehow

3 gives off a more realistic feel while 4 gives off a more anime feel. Some of the models look better in 3 than 4 for both human form and beast form.

Sorry to break it to you that won't be happening. And besides the bloody roar series has no connection with Nintendo so be careful what you wish.
This game is such a vague memory in my childhood. We weren't really allowed to have multiple game consoles growing up (or upgrade, until a certain point), but my dad's friend would bring over his Playstation 2 and Primal Fury was one of the games he had. I always played as Alice because I thought her bunny form was cute.
Looking at the comparisons, it's hard to say one is better than the other overall. 3 has some better textures and beast designs (Yugo for instance. What were they thinking for 4?). But some of the beast forms in 4 have better proportions, like Long's head and neck being more properly mounted on his body instead of looking like a hunchback in 3.
I'm shocked that this game hasn't been picked up again to release a new installment (or at least a port). A furry fighting game during this time would draw such a huge crowd; heck I know I'd play it. But also I'm afraid of the censorship we'd be seeing, too. They'd censor Jenny's beast form for sure, which would be dumb.

Primal Fury was one of my favorite fighting game on the gamecube, next to Soul Calibur 2 because it had Link in it. Xion being my main because of the dope Unborn beast mode.

@@MajesticFerret my eyes are just fine. BR3 had better quality on some of the characters than BR4 did. And they were not that far apart in res.
@@LDVenji literally all of the BR3 models are noticeably lower res and lower poly count. It was in worse hardware, so that makes sense.
@@MajesticFerret BR3 models are not that low and some of the models especially the beast models look better than some of their BR4 beast counterparts. I’ve been playing bloody roar since bloody roar 2 so I’m pretty sure I have a good grasp of what models sticks out more than the other and how one model looks more inverted than there previous counterpart.
@@LDVenji I prefer stuff like Jenny's bat from BR3 due to it being Sexier, but PF looks better 90% of the time. As it should. It's a sequel and was designed for GC, which was stronger than the PS2 and BR3 was an early PS2 game at that.

I always was curious as to why they made Alice ultra fluffy in 4. I mean I guess that's "anatomically correct" for a rabbit, but she was fine as she was and other characters had a similar mix between human and animal in their design. Just weird that they randomly went "Let's go full rabbit".
In fact the more I watch through this, the more I think I know why. Seems they wanted to tone down the sex appeal? All the other female characters are a bit more clothed, especially in their beast forms (Alice just being fluff). Huh.

Alice was weird to me, because they gave her a more "mature" outfit, but her personality stayed the same.

They really phoned it in for Bloody Roar 4 huh? This series should get a reboot. It was a great concept but the 4th game executed it poorly.

The script is almost ready, but I'm stuck in a dilemma of sorts since the Script is perfect for an RPG game with tactics based battle system.

Wait....im confused, why do some things look way better in 3? One of the first times im actually looking at 3 tbh, Primal Fury is the only BR ive ever owned and played so im only familiar with that one and have seen images of some of the low poly ones. Just at the start i like Yugo's 3 stance more than PF's(and his beast form looks really nice too but idm the design in PF either)

Bloody Roar 3 the superior one loved that game it was always Tekken and Bloody Roar two of my favorite 3D fighters but I love all 3D fighting games
It's been really sad seeing so many of them go away. Tekken,Bloody Roar,DOA,Soul Calibur all were special to me growing up. They all offered something different too. Tekken/DOA approach & core was completely different from one another. Soul Calibur was the weapon fighter & Bloody Roar was the beast fighter. It was also one of the first 3D games to have supers and not include it in a stupid manner. Now pretty much Tekken is the only one left standing. DOA & Soul Calibur sadly finally fell off it seems.

Also, I think the art direction for 3 was to make more real-life-looking designs. and also theres another detail i find interesting, in 3 the necks of most beast forms are portruded forward and closer to the chest, oposite to the more human-like projection of the neck in 4
Despite being a game older than the other, Bloody Roar 3's graphics have aged well over time whereas BR4 looks even worse.
