I agree that they made big changes but man they take sooo long, besides, most major ps3 exclusives are not playable either fps or bugs. When i will get 5950x i will probably start to play some games for real and i ve been following and donating to devs for couple years now. I think we are around 2 years off until most mid-high end cpus will be able to fully play them like with r5 3600 and up.

These VPUs were key to achieving this extra performance. For a console released in 2006, it's insane. It was hell to develop for it because it was so low-level, but that's what you get if you want to squeeze every frame. Developers not only had to learn a new architechture, but also a new way to do things since it goes against most conventions. Now see this from the side of emulator developers. At least game devs had a dev kit they could use to see how everything works, emu devs need to figure a lot of stuff by reverse engineering. The fact they are so far is nothing short of amazing. You're not giving them enough credit, this can't just happen overnight.
@@tralphstreet Dont get me wrong im very grateful that rpcs3 is a thing and i am and will continue supporting them, however they been on this project for almost 10 years now and in 2012 they released prototype of this software or at least part of it. Now since 2017 they made decent progress sometimes its been slower sometimes its been faster, but the fact that most popular games that everyone knows and probably wants to play are still unplayable, while emulator like xenia managed to make red dead redemption actually fully playable and at good fps. Also the fact that rpcs3 is heavily dependent on cpu power is tough pill to swallow as its slowest component to improve in performance from generation to generation and that its hardest component to change can be really difficult for gamers. I know you cant do full ps3 emulation completely on gpu but damn its tough sometimes, waiting and waiting and upgrading and waiting and still not be able to play those exclusives at good framerate.

5600x & 5800x for all intents & purposes, make use of one CCD, so they should perform competently with RPCS3 titles, even more so than Zen 2 because of the IPC gains & improved latency via unified cache a 5900x or 5950x would still have the issue of communicating between two chiplets but again, should be alleviated by the unified cache. @satnav9699 The RPCS3 team on their Discord have suggested quite the contrary for Zen 3 in particular: prnt.sc/vhqx91

Our patches are not included in the emulators codebase, they are created by the community not the main developers. They are also NOT allowed to bypass game crashes, there is a canary patch page on our wiki for those but they are not supported and will not be downloaded through our patch manager, most users do not know they exist and there's only a couple made.

I went on and tested the new patches (checked all of 'em) but the game freezes just after hitting some enemies on the very start after the cutscene. Tried changing the wake delay from 50, to 100 and then 200. Try updating RPCS3, there was a recent stability issue which was bad timing with the release of the video. If you still have issues go to discord.me/rpcs3 and ask in help channel

My specs are these: i3-8100 8GB RAM Nvidia GeForce GT 730 I was able to play Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 at a stable 60 FPS but other games like Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition or Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 HD slow me down and then the emulator freezes.
TLOU is a good game. I haven't had a chance to try it in the emulator myself, though, as I have the digital PS4 version (bundled with my console). Hoping to find a cheap PS3 disk copy eventually, since I have a USB blu-ray drive that can read PS3/PS4 disks.

@rasheed daley I've tried every trick in the bag. unfortunetly i cant seem to be able to make it run (even at 720). TLOU just wont run at more than 25 tops while constanlty dropping to 2-3 fps every time. Its just unplayable. Let alone uncharted 4.I've tried all the settings on the patches ,the recomended on the internet and recent youtube videos showing settings you name it. Sony need to hire you guys. Just imagine what can you achive with console developer support. And players will be able to play PS3 classics on next gen.
It would be bad if that were to happen. It would mean the emulator would no longer be open source, locked to PS hardware and Sony would be the one making the decisions, it's never good when that happens. Instead, wait for the PS5 to be jailbroken so people can port the emulator to it, because it will eventually happen. Don't ever think that big corporations are a friend of the small guy.

@@confidencecorner1 I've tested it already. Most time at 30fps, with some parts at 20fps (large areas or battles with many enemies). Just configure emulator for Vulkan, check Write Frame Buffers, set Driver Wake-Up to about 400ms and use all the patches. Everything else set in default (also doesn't increase resolution nor resolution scale, as it greatly decrease it's performance)
I have some problems in resistance 1, when I play for the first time, I could play it very well, but Now when I try to open it, it only shows a black screen and doesn’t show it on other games, It is the only game that have that problems

Please ensure you are using the latest build of RPCS3, as there was a recent issue with old builds. An update has just been released.

I think its harder for zen cpus to emulate the ps3 due to missing a hardware command making emulating the SPUs harder.

the drop to 25 fps causes the game to go slow motion on the emulator. That doesn't happen on the console.

Still my game runs at 4-5 fps
Only Cutscene hits 30 fps and a huge amount of audio delay appears

@rasheed daley I've tried every trick in the bag. unfortunetly i cant seem to be able to make it run (even at 720). TLOU just wont run at more than 25 tops while constanlty dropping to 2-3 fps every time. Its just unplayable. Let alone uncharted 4.I've tried all the settings on the patches ,the recomended on the internet and recent youtube videos showing settings you name it. I have an RTX 360 ti. ryzen 9 3900x and 32 Gigs of Ram (I use it for work) and yet nothing worked. What would you advice, Iv'e seen this run fine in less hardware.
the fact that SONY didn't provide the backwards compatibility beyond PS4 in the new PS5 won't hurt for long because of you guys.... PS3 has one of the best libraries of exclusives of all time and SONY isn't much concerned about it apparently but glad to see that you people are.... Much respect to all the developers of RPCS3 ✊

es muy posible que no entiendan español pero bueno, quiero decirles que estaria bueno que se centren en la optimizacion para las CPU, por ejemplo ryzen 5 2600 (6 nucleos 12 hilos) estaria genial que puedan hacerloun poco mas liviano en ese sentido ya que satura demasiado y no todos tenemos para cpus mas potentes como un i7 8700 o mas, de todas formas los admiro mucho y estan llevando a cabo un proyecto increible, saludos
(edit: todos los juegos serian super jugables a 30 fps, intenten simplemente lograr eso para cpus poco potentes)
Amigo tem cpus similares a i7 8700k por um preço mais barato que o Ryzen 5 2600 no aliexpress é uma cpud e laptop adaptada para desktop 1151 o nome é qqlt ou qnct cpu.
@@mr.schaeffer5399 mano, la frecuencia mononucleo no es la misma, un i7 8700 tiene muy buena potencia y tiene 6/12. De todas formas tienes razón, los Xeon son muy buena opción y el r5 2600 también pero como te digo, el mononucleo es bastante más bajo

I got i7 6700k gtx 980 16gb ram and still can't get stable 20fps on (GOW 3) I tried the patches and all possible settings but still no result.
are the same games, should focus on other needy games, Red Dead 1 does not have a patch that improves its performance ...

Sony need to hire you guys. Just imagine what can you achive with console developer support. And players will be able to play PS3 classics on next gen.
It would be bad if that were to happen.
It would mean the emulator would no longer be open source, locked to PS hardware and Sony would be the one making the decisions, it's never good when that happens.
Instead, wait for the PS5 to be jailbroken so people can port the emulator to it, because it will eventually happen.

@@confidencecorner1 I've tested it already. Most time at 30fps, with some parts at 20fps (large areas or battles with many enemies).
Just configure emulator for Vulkan, check Write Frame Buffers, set Driver Wake-Up to about 400ms and use all the patches. Everything else set in default (also doesn't increase resolution nor resolution scale, as it greatly decrease it's performance)
