Tens of thousands of us swim in FL lakes every year. It's normal and it's very rare to have an attack by a gator. It's hilarious what people outside of FL fear.

The pain he'll endure without prescriptions isn't worth thinking about. That pain will be intolerable, he had his skull cracked, his muscles torn, half his face had to be wired shut etc
Yeah if it was me I think I would have rather died surviving is one thing but living a life deformed and loosing capability to live a pain free independant life is worse than death in my view. There was another man who survived a bear attack he lost his sight was paralysied on the left side of his face and was crippled and barely able to walk surviving isn't always a mercy
This is tragic. But people here in Florida need to be more conscious or smarter I should say. We Floridians know there’s alligators everywhere, why would you jump into a moat full of murky water like that without first doing due diligence on the location? That's really ridiculous! Since he is from Florida, he should know not to get into ponds and lakes down there. I only go into there with a boat and I'm surrounded by gators, but they normally swim away from me. He is blessed. I hope he recovers quickly, sit back and reflect what had happened to him. Fr as a florida man who grew up swimming in the lakes and rivers here the chances of this happening are worse than winning the lottery or getting struck by lightning, I’m almost positive somebody was feeding that gator and that’s why it associated food with humans because they normally don’t and head the opposite direction when they see humans💯

any florida, louisiana water can have gators. i live in tx and wont go in water. only a pool! and even then i make sure no snakes are in it LOL the price we pay for living in heaven! love tx!, but i dont swim in natural water, i dont camp out in tents, i dont go into the woods without proper clothing, a cell, and maybe a weapon. use your head BEFORE you do these things. they do happen.

The photo of you with no bone flap brings back memories, I had a brain tumour removed and my brain swelled for a year after the tumour was removed they couldn't cover the hole so I had a note on my forehead that my skull was incomplete, thankfully like you I made it through though strokes caused by the tumour left me unable to use my left arm. Hope you can still be as active as before. Stay strong !!

Trust me , he knew, he just thought it wouldn't come after him.. there are gators in almost every lake, river, bayou, etc..even creeks... During mating season they will go everywhere, even in your house if you leave the door open.. I'm in central coastal South Florida, people don't realize how tropical we are, gators are not the only animal to watch for here.. It's a totally different ball game..
