- A Chopper headlight with only one wire?? It didn't even shock me!!! I've wanted to do this for a while. I wired up the headlight high and low beam with only one wire leaving the bucket. Nice and reliable! (In theory.) Next we're onto a seat pan and cover, then paint and powder before final assembly for the SmokeOut!

I tend to be old school and I remember the choppers I used to see when I was in high school. I definitely like the simple look of the plain round headlight. And the way you have it wired up is genius!
The dog ate a frog. ive been on death watch for an hr, 🤣🤣🤣 I just about pissed myself i was laughing so hard, good lord that is some funny shit, Monk, leave the headlight, it Ooozzoes old skool chop, im not quite sold on the bars yet but the rest screams classic 70's chopper. The red is high beam.A toggle switch points through the switch to the wire it is connecting and activated, so when you flip the top of the switch toward the blue wire the bottom inside the switch is pointing and making contact to the red wire🤫
I'd get one of those rubber covers for the switch so it lasts longer...dust and water etc. Not crazy about the bars but I'm loving the rest. It's classic old skool chop.
Loving the look of the chop so far. I've built a few in my time. Old and arthritis now so have to suffer pain each time I touch the tools nowadays and even after riding. Enjoy each day bud...seeing the project come together n then first start up n ride is a great feeling as you know. I miss those days..All night beers n no sleep putting it all together ..then back it out n start it up n off down the road...pride and happiness every mile.
Nice job on the one wire set up Monk! I've done similar jobs on off road lighting and it works out great. Especially for a cleaner look...

My old man always carried a (one specific) pencil for stirring his coffee. He always had it with him. He swore it made the coffee taste better. Thanks for bringing up a a good memory.
As a trucker I’ve used ink pens for years to stir my coffee. Not so much now that we are on E-logs, maybe that’s why my coffee seems to taste different these days. 😂😂 bike is looking very sharp!

I personally didn't think I would like the bars Im a ol school guy with upsweep fishtail pips and ape hangers for bars but yours is getting a great look and I like the headlight.

And I really like what you did with the switch. The “polar” opposite of the complex luxury of a modern FLH. I really enjoy my FLH but I get the old school chopper thing. A simpler time when our entertainment threshold was a lot lower.

McMaster-Carr toggle switch boots. Seals the switch from the weather. You can order different colors also.
Personally I like the headlight you have on it that looks old school chopper
Head lite looks perfect just needs to be a lot brighter.
If you run one of the other headlights you could mount the switch behind the ignition switch.

Bike is looking awesome. I think that if the headlight housing was brass it would balance out the other brass parts.

Keep the round light you can put a LED 4H bulb in it. I have a spare if you need it (came in a 2 pack). From when I switch the bulb in my V-Star to LED. The triangle and rectangle lights are so overdone on chops these days.

that style of light are know to crack at the mount were its riveted to the bucket .
It’s not riveted. Nuts and bolts…
My wife’s Tri-Glide as well as my Ultra have the 2 aux lights grounded to the buckets

@@ProfessionalMonkey To be honest I'm just bustin balls with you I love the videos but i've been thinking lately that i pay full price for all the parts I buy for my bikes and so do most of the other guys that watch videos and these companies handing out parts like water to all the youtubers we are the guys paying for them when we purchase them just give it some thought.

The blue light turned on because you pushed the switch towards the blue wire but the contact made connection between the red wire and your positive
Go go juice is always good with metal shavings, especially before you might shock yourself. Just say, I really wouldn’t know lol.

Would it be too much work to somehow wire your light switches through your handbars, to the end of your left handgrip? Similar to a heated hand grip switch but with the low, off and highbeam? Sneakily hidden but still functional.
You could, but it’s not really my style. Neat idea though!
Take the high beam down to your highway Peg and do and old school high beam foot switch.

How many wires do you want? Wires cost money! Take the wire use it as a positive and put another on for ground!

Answer this question "what path is the current taking to ground"?
The answer is stem bearings, and possibly clutch cable and throttle cable ,
not things you want electrical current connected with just sayin.
But if there is no short, why would that be a problem?

Bike sure is coming along. Just 2 question. Are you keeping the flat trailer fender? You had mentioned ordering a fender with a curved tip. Wouldn't you need to have the other fender mocked up for the seat pan/ cover? MLLR
I decided to just reshape the trailer fender. The new one isn't quite wide enough for the sissy bar strap...

On a chopper you want to be able to turn the light off. In the. Old days the headlight can be turned off.
