A Keyed Ferrari wouldn’t impact performance either but for your hard earned money you want perfection. With that said tho this rifle would pass as good enough for me tho
LMT is kind of known for their flashing marks in the trigger well and around the front facing of the magwell. That's how you know the lower is made by LMT. Every major lower manufacturer has quite distinguishable characteristics if you know what to look for and marking like those are dead giveaways as to who OEM'd them. As for the pitting on the lower, it's actually quite common for many LMT-made lowers, but it still doesn't make it excusable for what they charge. LMT could also be selling blem products to the civilian market like KAC does, and keep the best for their mil contracts, but that's just speculation (I bet they are, though). Regardless, if you pay that much for a rifle, you want it to be flawless, but then again, LMT is known for their ruggedness and reliability and functionality over cosmetics. I'd still take an LMT or KAC over a comparably-priced Radian (which would have zero imperfections), though, so I'd still say you made a great choice.
Dude the MRP is a forging heavily dependant on machining. I own several, they all have tooling marks some place or another. People don't normally buy an MRP because it looks pretty.
Every LMT I have has small imperfections. It’s a known thing that has been beaten to death on forums. It’s a rifle first that works then a collectable( which if you think about no cosmetic issues might mean it’s fake in the collectable world)
@tacticalfun I've now seen a couple people online post about LMT uppers, in the course of over 3 years; I've seen people post that their uppers had the gas blocks touching the inside of the rail, so therefore, not actually having a free floated barrel. I find it hard to believe that there aren't hundreds, maybe thousands of LMT's out there, where the owners haven't thought about looking to see if their gas block is touching the inside of the rail. The fact that these uppers are from completely different batches since they are years apart, this says a lot. I'm not trashing LMT, I really like their stuff, but this is a serious quality control issue. You can probably file down the inside of the rail so that the gas block isn't touching, but why would you have to do that given the price of these things! The problem is the machining or the CNC formula, the inside of the rail needs to be wider.
@@tacticalfun aero has a clear cut track record of making cheap forgings. Their coatings are weak af and no where near milspec coatings easily proven by the fact they're a shiny black lol but hey maybe they changed since the 5 lowers I fucked with
@No Luck, Pure Skill I think Aero is more than enough for most people out there, an LMT lower isn't going to be *stronger* than an Aero lower by any means. In terms of quality control, yeah there are many companies better than Aero, but unless you are a Navy Seal, you won't need an LMT.

My MWS is pretty gnarly looking and plenty of machine marks but I love it and as I drag it all around and get it beat to all hell, I begin to forget where all the factory blemishes were. I haven’t noticed any mechanical flaws except it appears that the gas block is about 1 degree or less canted counterclockwise but it shoots .75” groups so there is no way I’m risking sending it back and getting a barrel that doesn’t shoot as well. The design is good, the accuracy is great, it’s reliable. Just might not be the prettiest out of the box but let the performance do the talking :)
I totally get it, you drop 3k on a rifle and expect perfection. However if that is what you want, HK is the place to go. I own both and a DD, LWRCI, Honey Badger and KAC. I would love for them all to come like my HK and LWRCI did and let me scratch it, but realistically, I shoot my guns and they are guaranteed to get messed up so, oh well.
