I'm in UK, local police started carrying LMT rifles in some of their vehicles a few years ago. They don't exactly get a lot of action fortunately but I'm sure they have fun at the range. I think some of our specialist units in the army use them too.
this is definitely a certified battle rattle. You may say yikes at the price but when the entire upper is a single piece and locked in tight with a set of clamps and using the piston block with the op rod makes it like a rock. You aint breaking it.
My guess is expense. These are not cheap. They had to be engineered and special parts produced which means that unlike so many other AR companies LMT can't just assemble someone else's parts. That drives up cost.
@@GBGuns My opinion is that the military loves the sound of a modular system untill it comes the time to buy those systems, train armorers and dable with so many variables that it's just easier to buy few complete weapon systems over one modular one.
Great review, very thorough! How much barrel sticks out beyond the handguard with the factory birdcage? I’d like to use my SOCOM RC2 and I’m wondering if there’s enough clearance?
E-BCG is only for heavily overgassed situations. Many people have bought them, and then started experiencing failures because they didn't meet the requirements on their firearm as far as gassing.

@@GBGuns It's such a wonderful system that I am just now discovering thanks to this video. I'm obsessed now. I was in OEF 01-02 and my service rifle was the M14, so to say that this is a step-up is an understatement. BTW, you are literally the only man on YT that is using this platform in a pistol configuration. Great minds think alike, I guess. Happy New Year! And thank you for being in the fight as well!
I believe they were sued for patent infringement and that was part of why Mega went out of business. Yes the name is back now after being bought by someone else, but the original company is dead.
I only review guns as they ship. Changing out parts and especially using a suppressor can alter results by changing accuracy and reliability. That's not fair to the manufacturer or the audience.
Great video and good guns. It’s very disappointing they don’t ship all their guns with the enhanced bolt carrier group though. For $2500 I want everything top of the line. A DD is $2000 and while not a monolithic, ambidextrous or quick swap barrel. Those features don’t command that price. If anything the monolithic upper is cheaper to produce as you don’t have another tolerance variable. $2200-$2300 and it’s competitively priced. The fact they don’t cold hammer forge their barrels as well is also very disappointing.
As far as I know the DD barrels aren't used by any militaries. The contract barrels for the US would be Colt or FN and the military only uses their rails and gas block that has to be built inhouse rather than shipped from the factory. But the LMT, as it is sold today to civilians, are sold to the military with their barrel and all and is in its factory configuration. Even when the MK18 project started, LMT gave the military a type of rifle that is better than the current MK18 but ultimately the only thing that survived would be their stock and rear chopped sights.
LMT does not cold hammer forge barrels, they do even better. Thet cryogenically treat their already great barrels, improving durability and life of the barrel, while maintaining accuracy. It lasts even longer than a CHF barrel. LMT knows what they are doing!!
I use a different regular wrench to remove the barrel retention bolts and just use the supplied torque wrench to tighten. I don't now if true but heard it can harm a torque wrench to loosen bolts and so I don't want to take any chances. Also because of the monolithic upper & rail I'm experimenting with a "Jeff Cooper" style 4X Leupold pistol scope mounted up front.
There are some things that 300blk can do that 7.62x39 can't. If all you wanna do is shoot unsuppressed supersonic ammo, get the AK. If you want a 30 cal that suppresses well with subsonic loads but still runs supersonic loads like a champ, 300blk is hard to beat. And, like Graham said, if you put the wrong caliber in your gun, you're gonna have a bad time. Keep your 300blk and 5.56 separate and you will have no problems.
