Bro solid review. This was an amazing run. I love how Priest re-defined the character. I would say warn people before you show and tell some major spoilers. Some people may haven’t read this stuff yet.
I agree Christopher Priest is a genius of a writer. Dude I beg you to please read his DEATHSTROKE run. That’s another character defining run.
Just finished Priest’s Deathstroke. Cannot wait to jump into this bad boy.
In Jungle Action : Panther's Rage Monica was an American Reporter whom T'Challa brings to Wakanda as his lover. She's a fish out of water as no one accepts her because she's not Wakandan. They also killed off Killmonger in Panther's Rage.
Yeah for him to be so popular he didn’t last long. But he made a big impact. He’s been resurrected something like twice and keeps dying lol.

This also reminded me that X-Men: The Animated Series has 2 amazing Japanese anime openings. I wish the whole show was like that.

This was a goat of a run and the first major victory of Marvel Knights. Essential reading for a tour of the Marvel Universe.
Tex art looks great i live him on punisher & wolverine, i really got to get back to reading.

I remember when this came out and I was a big fan. People look to this time with rose tinted glasses because the sales were not great. We are celebrating Christopher Priest's Black Panther today but It wasn't a big seller at the time.
This book is definitely a banger, one of the best Marvel was putting out during that time. This was a fun review to watch, especially as someone who read this run as it was coming out, to see somebody looking at this with fresh and current eyes. You do some great and thorough Omni reviews, man. I'm interested to see your review of volume 2...there's some good stuff there but it goes off the rails with the Kasper Kole stuff imo

Christopher Priest is a great writer. Wish he would still get to write for Marvel but man politics... His US Agent mini a couple of years ago was so much fun and shows he still got it.
I have the complete collections but already updated to Omni vol 1 and can't wait to get vol 2 and reread the run!
What do you mean by that line “but man politics”?
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- it's clear that Marvel doesn't hire people with certain political views or writers that would tackle certain subjects in their stories. You can watch some Priest interviews where he mentions that there's certain things he would not be allowed to do if writing for Marvel

He doesn’t seem right wing based on his social views… at least in this book. But it is like 25 years old now.
Texeira's artwork is really powerfull , the same energy than in Ghost rider
I’ve only read Priests Vampirella & Justice League runs I think, I absolutely loved his Vampirella, excellently written.
I think I’m gonna check out his Deathstroke next

I have the variant cover but I have to admit of all the issues they could’ve chose for the cover they were random as hell with that selection! lol.

@@GemMintCollectibles yup, I realized when you got to that issue in the review. So I guess it does make sense. And that art isn’t bad at all, I just think there were better choices to be a cover.

There’s nothing worse than a radically shift in art styles mid story. If an artist can’t finish a run then the editors should find an artist with a similar style that’s not jarring.
And this went from one extreme to the other
