All my structures have steel roofs, and 40 years later guess what ! .....the roofs are as good as they were 40 years ago. All my neighbors have all redone theirs three times in that same period. This video shows great design, great work and let's all come back in 40 years and see how it held up, roof and all.
What a rude comment! Certainly, it was the client that chose the roofing, and not the builder. Perhaps that roofing matches the house, or other nearby design elements. Perhaps the clients loves metal roofing. I think that the whole project looks great.
I think it looks good, and the roof will provide plenty of ventilation to keep the wood dry for many decades. (Provided it's appropriately specified metal)
I just realized I haven't watched any of your videos in the past year. I'm happy I get to catch up now! It always amazes me the sheer quantity of industrial tools and machines you guys have.
😀glad you are back! We always try to add more to our collection. We are currently negotiating for a high precision cnc so we can get our guitar projects to a next level..
as an artist myself, I am always aware of how difficult the task is in front of me. I am always saying in my head, "if I had this tool...." you literally have the tools, and to see what you make with them is very rewarding. how is he going to plane that giant glue up?, oohhhhhh he has a huge robot, wowowowow. it is so nice to see artists with enough capital to actual have these amazing tools, to make these amazing ideas a reality safely, quickly, and accurately. im very impressed. I think working at your shop must be very rewarding for everyone involved.
Craftsmen, technicians, and artists. Not only are your projects always amazing works of art, but the videos of the projects are works of art, themselves. You guys are so impressive. That was another beautiful job. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Metal roofs are fantastic. They last forever and personally I enjoy their aesthetic. Also, I think the 'simple' roof allows more focus on the craftsmanship of the structure (which is incredibly beautiful). I think an elaborate roof would take away from that. Unbelievable job, lignum! I hope the clients enjoy your creation for years to come.
You know, I think I said this before, but, "when I grow up..." Your talents are awesome and the fact you share the products of your skill are simply wonderful. THANK YOU.
As always, we should expect nothing less than fantastic work from the Lignum team! Art and functionality all meet to create the perfect shapes. The fact that you all have been able to create a team that not only can create HUGE structures like this and then in your free time beautiful works of art such as guitars and furniture is truly astounding, a really amazing pool of talent and drive you have all put together!
Absolutely fantastic! Always wondered - do you have a structural engineer working with you or do you even need one where you are? Here in the UK something like that would need a stack of paperwork higher than the tin roof!
Kao jedna od rijetkih Hr pratitelja, moram reci da je moj ovogodisnji 40 rodjendan prosao neobiljezeno radi korone, ali moram dati upute muzu gdje kupiti poklon za slijedeci rodjendan. Divne stvari, savrsene ideje, vrhunska realizacija. Bravo!
I'd really love to see the process of how they define the work area for the robot on weird shaped pieces like that. How do they tell it where there is wood and where there isn't?
You first create a model in CAD. Then the model gets exported into a software that creates something called G-Code. G Code tells the machine what to do. When creating the G-Code you have to define an origin on the CAD Model. That origin is X=0 Y=0 Z=O. You then tell the machine where you want the origin to be in real space and then the machine executes all movements based on where you put this point in real space. Here are two good videos on the topic: ruclips.net/video/YBGqknN3gGs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/J4bMAIEFCYU/видео.html
@@obi-wankenobi9871 That are some great videos on the topic! One thing to consider is that these robots only understand Kuka Robot Language and not G-code. So there needs to be a translation step somewhere :)
@@Music4ever326 basically every high end CNC machine/arm comes with the needed translation from g-code, or comes with an exporter for most cad packages. It really isn't the hard part after setup.
@@Cynyr Alright! But i heard that getting the right software setup is not that trivial when buying a used robot arm. What do you consider the hard part? :)
The robot knows where the wood is at all times. It knows this because it knows where the wood isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the robot from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't.
I'm more interested in the total cost to the client for all this hard work, specialized equipment, metalwork, cement and install. (I have a sneaking suspicion the money that exchanged hands couldn't have been worth it for all those involved... because I have a good idea what I'd charge for a job that ended up looking like that)
Absolutely love it. Never seen anything like it. Im a Carpenter currently renovating my whole house. This Carport will be standing in my driveway next yr. Im curious tho. Was that guttering custom made? How was it fixed to the trimdeck? I hope not screwed!!? Beautiful work mate💯👌👌👌
That was amazing. Great choice of music. Stupidly overbuilt. Very nice. What is the acceptable end to end vertical y-axis tolerance for your giant robot machine. 1-2 mm? less than 1/8"? ( A long time ago I helped build a trailer park recreation hall that had a 10x24x40 foot glulam beam. That was a stick of wood. I realized if you messed up and cut it wrong, than might as well just go the top of the scaffolding and throw yourself off. The boss was sure to. ( I was way above my paygrade. I just helped shove the thing into place. There is something about a group of men lifting heavy objects like standing walls or placing beams that is satisfying once its done.)
I know what you mean, 2 years ago we assembled a structure with largest beams spanning 25m with variable cross section with max of 20x250 cm.. there is a video on this channel, I'd be glad if you checked it out.😁 robots have repeatability of+- 0.2mm . Thank you for watching man!
In my experience, it doesn't take much time. This looks like multiple copies of few different shapes. I'd say you can do it in a few hours. Cnc runtime, on the other hand, is a different story.
Thank you very much!😃 This is quite simple shape and very similar to the standard model we often make so all together a couple of hours. Latest guitar project however, it took more than 50 hours for making models and programming.. so it depends and time varies a lot..

Another incredible project. Thanks for taking us along on the journey
wondering why you would build such a great frame work and then top it of with this cheap looking roofing.
other than that great video as usual!
Well as in every project, there is allways budget.. glad you like the structure!😀

I just love this video. Out of the 600k views, many are me re-watching. Thank you so much for these great videos!!
You could make a scaled down version too, so they could have a matching coffee table :)
This is a great idea, I will most certainly use it! Thank you😁
I got a smile out of the use of a common hand saw to finish off the work of that "zillion" dollar robotic router. Proud work, gentlemen!

They aren't just a wood workshop. They also build huge wooden roof structures for arenas and stuff

Probably a laser.
You can do it with a clear hose with water in it and a tape measure. Thats how it was done before we had laser levels.
