I never did not understand why nobody except musicians see this brilliant short solo of basist))) I am not musician but I saw how difficult it is
All the musicians of UTA are accomplished and Brittney Slayes slayed the vocals.
Brittney does a wicked Brindisi on opera /metal battles ( got a lot of classic/choral training obviously)
Also did an off the cuff qeeensryche kareoke post concert party in a local bar.
Both on the tube
Yes... saved me time of posting myself!
This is one of those bands/songs that pretty much all reactors get requested (like Nightwish and Jinjer) They're all superb musicians and charming geeks. A couple members are very active on Twitch. Great band, they have new music coming out soon. Great reaction too!
There's another group that combines male and female vocals. Their name is Lacuna Coil they are out of Italy but Nightwish will do it too. Their former bassist and the ladies of the band will sing together on a few songs.
They blew me away the first time I heard them too!
I discovered them via another channel reacting to this video and was blown away... saw in the comments that this is the opening track to a concept album called Apex about "The Immortal" and that the follow up album Abyss had just been released. I did the only sensible thing and immediately ordered both albums on vinyl and avoided any songs from those albums until I could sit down and listen to both albums back to back with a nice glass of rum in one hand and the lyrics sheets in the other... and it was glorious. 2 albums of straight bangers!
UTA are awesome. I'm a member of the Nightwish army and have seen NW 4 times here in Maryland.. They are one of the best I've ever heard and I'm a senior citizen and musician... Brittany and Floor are.amazing.singers. You might like Alter Bridge btw
Always great to see musicians enjoying some UTA. Usually, I recommend Tonight We Ride next to hear Brittney's even crazier vocal lines, yet for your focus on the musicianship, I'd jump to their latest album to hear how their music evolved a bit and still hear a banger with the song Soulbound.
Same song all the time and under each UTA reaction. Why not Test Your Metal? Or North West Passage? But no, it's always Tonight We Ride =)
I think they call that the Britney choir. It’s all her own vocals are various ranges and added to her own.
Yeah, she sings all the parts and then mixes them together. She is her own backup singer.
The entire band is absolutely unbelievable and just plain amazing people on top of that. If you ever do another reaction I might as well jump in here quick and suggest Tonight We Ride from their album Time Stands Still, or alternately, General of the Dark Army from the album Demons of the AstroWaste, which is another concept album they did! Anyway awesome reaction, love the response to Nikko 😂 sadly he's not in the band anymore but the (sorta) new bassist Nick Miller is just spectacular. Hope you do another! ✌🧡🤘
Northwest Passage I fell really showcases her talent. And love their cover of Teaze's "Heartless World" Saw them live many moons ago in De. Fantastic show.
They have a couple of songs where the other guitarist sings as well, and he has a really great voice too. The whole band is amazingly talented.
LOVED how you all nerded out about the instruments, the different technics used from all the band players but BUT, you said almost NOTHING about her, her voice, her range throughout the song!!!!!
People here have already mentioned the Karaoke thing: ruclips.net/video/280DRqoGyLw/видео.html which led to Arjen Lucassen of Ayreon and Star One watching the Karaoke video, which then lead to Arjen casting Brittney in his latest Star One project: ruclips.net/video/vn7P3oVMnys/видео.html and here's an interview where he describes just messing about on RUclips and running across the Karaoke video: ruclips.net/video/zwo2iydjDNY/видео.html
Ayreon and Star One are another deep rabbit hole to dive into ruclips.net/video/o51SW7gCUoY/видео.html "The Day the World Breaks Down". Teaser: this song has 11 singers and ends with someone you already know.
Oh I hope they do The Day the World Breaks Down! :-)
Their last two albums have been concept albums with a full story spanning both. They utilize each vocalist for different parts so in this song Brittany is the hero aka "The Immortal" and Grant's growls are the villain "The Matriarch" calling to him. The whole thing is insane but so, so good. Their other guitarist provides cleans for other characters. They're essentially 5 D&D nerds writing incredible power metal.
They are simply level 20 bards.
That right hand plucking technique is from Matthew Garrison (jazz bassist) but Nikko perfected it imho … uses thumb and three fingers to play faster more efficiently. Nikko has a RUclips channel and you can see the technique close up on his bass covers
Their concert was incredible.they are an amazing love band as well.and they're all so nice and humble
If you have not seen them, Beast In Black is worth a reaction, particularly "Blind & Frozen". They have been described as a "Greco-Finnish camp pop-dance power-metal band" which is to say that they are huge fun. The vocalist is capable of singing both parts of a duet... it's an eye opener. Also the video is nicely produced.

Oh, heart them as a support of Nightwish and they were a nice surprise :-)
IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME!
AWAKENING
To look up into the night's sky, to see the stars they are changed
To know a thousand years or more have passed, and I am the same
This mountain hollow that keeps me in a suffocating embrace
A prison and a safe haven, it's always been this way
Lo, a new master calls me to awakening, I know this one brings the end
Far out beyond the darkness I've been living in it's true, a whole new world awaits
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die
My path begins with the new dawn; a voice is calling my name
It always starts as whispering then manifests to a scream
I'm drawn to the creature that wakes me, bound to them by the curse
My soul exists only to serve, a covenant of birth
Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never die
Come to me, awakening
Follow my voice, come to me
Fear not the task ahead there's no escaping it, there's no good nor evil here
Stellar constellations rise, lighting my way in the night
Once again revitalized, to roam; to never
Lighting my way in the night
To roam; to never die
now, for more metal bands to check out: Epics, Jinjer, Within Temptation, Kamelot, Amaranthe, Lacuna Coil, Arch Enemy, Orion's Reign, Sabaton, Wintersun, Ayeron, Suite Clarity, Lords of the Trident, Powerwolf, Ramenstein, Shield of Wings,......then, of course, the 5 piece sibling band "Liliac"; along with more Nightwish.....this could keep you going for awhile
Nice to see a band enjoying their discovery journey.
The camera loves guitars :)
Scotts footwork!
Are you gonna flip with the bass "twiddley bits"? YEAH!
Britney really "Slayes"!
the bass player is using a banjo technic called claw and hammer.
I’m still getting to know UTA, but I like everything I’ve heard. “Faster Than Light” is a great song with a dark, hilarious video.
My favorite UTA song!
It's not a music video, but The Wind That Shapes the Land off their newest album is probably their best stuff. Hands down my favorite song, just period. EDIT: but something to note, ALL of their stuff is awesome, there isn't a single song of theirs that makes me want to change it.
Her voice is just awesome.
First time I've seen your channel, but this was a very cool reaction. Nice job, guys!
Roooooaraaaaaargh, Unleash the Archers, roooooooooaaargh
TONIGHT WE RIDE is got to be the next song by ula. You won’t be disappointed
The layering of background vocal tracks is what Brittney calls the "Brittney Choir", all her. She said if she wasn't doing this she probably would have been an opera singer and there's a video out there of her singing opera and killing it. There's another of her doing karaoke in a bar in Edenburgh, Scotland after having just done a full show singing Queensryche's "Queen of the Reich". I doubt anyone was wanting to step up to the mic after she was done LOL.
UTA: The Very Best from Canada.
And now you need Wintersun studiosessiosta, drummer Hahto is now in Nightwish
UTA is finishing up a new album and have shot at least two new videos for it. No release date as of yet.
Brittany and Scott have a new baby as well. So touring should be a blast.
From the beginning of this song to the end of their next album is a single story. Check out their entire album in order.
They don't have one bad song. Enough said.
Brittany Slays is to Power Metal as Floor Jansen is to Symphonic Metal.
new subscriber, really enjoying the reactions! Chris reminds me so much of Yannis from Beast In Black...would love to see some Avatar reactions, anything live from Pol'and Rock or Wacken you would love!
If you haven't done them yet, please do Ne Obliviscaris. And plague flowers the kaleidoscope live in colorado is a good choice.
You Guys, realy need to react to Majestica - Above the sky. Its one of the gitarplayer from Sabaton own band
Yay! Such a banger!
Perhaps, Tonight We Ride next so you can see a bit more of Brittneys vocal abilities.
This is the track that got me into the band. I also like Apex, Abyss, Faster Than Light, Legacy :-) Especially, Faster Than Light music video is great :-)
Or maybe try Fate of Man by Star One (sung by Unleash the Archers singer).
Was awesome to get a more technical breakdown of what they were doing, loved the reaction to the bass at the end of the solo! If you could please check out their rendition of Northwest Passage, originally by Stan Rogers, that would be awesome! I would also say to start with Tonight We Ride, Faster Than Light, or Soulbound. Either way, new sub and I’m gonna check out more of your channel. Looking forward to seeing more stuff from y’all!
I also am from your area, part of year...
Entire ABYSS album is great, but a bit different than APEX, whicg AWAKENING is from.
Someday, I hope you react to one of UTA's variant tracks, one of my goto listens, called LEGACY...BUT others will surely suggest SOULBOUND, APEX, ABYSS (which I suggest you couple with the preceeding first track, waking dreams (good segway into Abyss), TONIGHT WE RIDE, CLEANSE THE BLOODLINES, or other.
Being a Symphonic Metal fan, ala WITHIN TEMPTATION, DELAIN, and others, I had shyed away from power metal, but Brittney Hayes (her birth name) made it approachable for me. Love UTA now, and also have found FROZEN CROWN, from Milan Italy, also female power fronted and great dual guitar play, with a young.female guitarist, and very young excellent power drummer, who is also a jazz fan. AND, THEIR NEWEST album, from March 2023, is ALL so very good, and also varies in texturt and light to dark sonics. Suggest FIRE IN THE SKY, for bright, or BLACK HEART, for dark.
My Metal Sibling!!!🤘
Great reaction - next from UTA "Tonight we ride" - you'll get a Mad Max feeling with that video
UTA are a Canadian band. I cannot understand why they are not popular with their southern neighbors. In Europe they are popular
Their genre is way more popular in Europe, and other regions, than the US
If they really blow up, I can see them becoming huge in South America as well
"In Europe they are popular"... Nope; Absolutely not. Check out your "info"...😲
@@alejandromoya7 They are signed with Nuclear Blast Records. You don't sign with them just by being good. They are very well known in Northern Europe from what I've seen. In UK they are well known as well. But not to the people that listen to pop music
@@asicdathens Im Europe the "popular metal-bands" are Rammstein; Nightwish; Arch Enemy; Slipknot; Metallica; etc. Is not UTA; they are underground, no doubt...
@@alejandromoya7 popular is not mainstream. Lol
You are bringing up the "largest" bands in the metal scene today. Turn off your radio bro. We're not talking about radio popularity, we're discussing popularity within the metal genre
Their song "Test your metal" is cool AF!
UTA are awesome. Check out Tonight We Ride! So good
I love UTA! Great reaction boys. Please do some more of these guys. I'd suggest doing tonight we ride Northwest Passage if you want a little something different.
Watch tonight we ride
I love every band who reacts to this song losing it at the end-solo bass fill
You're going to get a lot of comments asking you to react to Tonight We Ride, but you should really check out their song General of the Dark Army from early in their career which features a lot more heavy vocals.
This is a great track. The whole album (Apex) is very good too.
I am new here but if you like this stuff check out the River Nihil! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!
UTA - Tonight we ride! Please!
"Ripping Through Time" is off their first album and remains one of my favourite songs of theirs. Would be interested to see your thoughts on their early work. \m/
Eat what you kill!
Unleash the Archers - Cleanse the Bloodlines
Another great Canadian is Devin Townsend
You have to listen to cleanse the bloodlines next
May I suggest a band that will blow your minds?
Dirty Loops
Check out their song "Work Sh#t Out" or "Follow The Light".
try visions of atlantis pirates will return live and drummer is napalm records ceo
Wintersun, songs of The winter and…
That drummer is unfuckingreal.
great reaction!! Use "J" or "L" to fast forward 10 seconds or go back 10 seconds. It's much more efficient and easier when reacting to videos and not have to use the mouse.
That drummer tho
So weird listening to Sam speak - sound's a lot like Axl Rose😄.
Nikko Whitworth's (bass player) presense and overall performance on the album is stellar. It's really too bad he left the band shortly after this album came out. His replacement is very good but he plays bass in the typical power metal style with not a lot of flair or uniqueness.
I know a lot of people will suggest 'Tonight We Ride' from UtA, but I think 'General of the Dark Army', is both a better song and video.
i think that's a Traynor amp....
If you love great musicians -> Lorna Shore and archspire 🙌
Love your reactions but isnt the point or reacting, to discover all kins of new things that arent usually in your realm? Finding different things lol Keep up the great work! And yes theres 2 guitar players, who were harmonizing a lot. But some of the split screens were showing what the guitar players was doing both at the top and the picking. and some of the split screens were showing the 2 guitarists harmonizing.
Intro is rip-off of Morgoth's Selected Killing :D
