This is like 5 years later but I live less than two minutes away from ellicot city, my mom and step dad almost got swept away in it because when they were driving thru it was just coming up on the roads. I was so lucky to be in a town north with my biological dad that day. The like one person found dead was found right near my school.
Damn! This town can't get a break! After July 2016, I would think they take some precautions to avoid this again.

Dude, this town in prone to flooding and has been since the 1800s. If they're stupid enough to keep building there they should come to expect this.
Its cursed, a train derailed there as well, killing 2 girls sitting on the train bridge burying them in coal
precautions like move house for instance
Yeah there's no easy fix. This street is basically just a funnel for Howard County's catchment area. It would cost more than the town is worth to bore a tunnel through the hills to the Patapsco River.
@@shaunodonnell9054 Sure, Jan.
2016 , 2018 , 2020 ? That street is really geographically a river !
didnt happen this year, thankfully
It might with Tropical Storm Isaias

Prayers for all that live there! 🙏🙏🙏❤️
I never forget this flood and i live not too far from ellicott city, seeing this happen put me in big shock, cant believe something like that should happen in a place like that
I moved into Ellicott City recently and I’ve only been into the old city a few times. It’s a shame that this has happened
Oh my God, Old Ellicott City is one of the most beautiful places in Maryland. So sad.
Simply wow..
why are fire alarms going off over the whole city?
Because it's flooding
Never live in a river bed.. Can't believe they still Insure homes built in them.
I lived in the hills around here back at '97. I used to come here all the time on my bike and I loved the place. 😢
home sweet home we must start from scratch again 🙏
Holy guacomolee!! If these happen to me I cry like baby
I was looking at Weather Underground's WunderMap. You can see the amount of rain that fell in the area on their map. Just west of Ellicott City got 7.48 inches of rain. Just East of Ellicott City got 13.38 inches of rain. Just south of Ellicott city got 14.6 inches of rain. That's historic rainfall totals in just a short period of time. There has to be lots of flooding in the Catonsville area too. Very sad.
Im in NW DC and knew that last years PA flooding was going to come closer and farther south.. Im moving to Amsterdam!
Dobby125 there is, I live on Catonsville and my basement is gone
Flooding in Arbutus as well
Howard County needs to build another Dam beside the Liberty Dam. The Patapsco River is always flooding. I’m surprised that Baltimore City’s Inner Harbor doesn’t overflow too.
This used to happen in my town until they rerouted the water drainage.
This helps one appreciate the fact that we all face the same dangers in life.
LOVE MOTHER
God have mercy please! !!
Wow
That's very sad.
I'm terrified just looking at it!
Said a prayer for you today.
This is horrible. That cute little street.
This seems to be happening a lot in old elicott city.
My God......
IF there is a river nearby this will happen over and over again. We have a river that run thru our downtown but years ago the city government built high banks on either side of the river and the flooding stopped.
Has the removal of the Bloede, Simkins and Union Dams since 2010 effected the flow of the Patapsco River?
Yes it has.
The Patapsco is downstream from this flood. How would that play any role?
Poor things!
OMG
He what is this omg
Electricity and water together! Wow
That's a lot of water. Must have rained a lot there.
Damn that’s a lot of water.
Can't they build or dig some drainage ditches and a dam to protect the area?
Ocean man take me by the hand lead me to the land that you understand ocean the crust is illusive when the goes by
I live in Maryland but i dont live in ellicot i live in Baltimore
Good luck
Why aren’t they taking better precautions
the day this was happning i was going to new your the the week i live in catons ville:3
All I’m focusing on is the stupid fire drills
I remember the. Hurricane in 1972 it was horrible in Ellicott. City then..
Patrica Dyson I can remember that. We lived just above Baltimore at the time. I was 7 years old.
Damn! I hope everyone there is alright
Ik this comment was 3 years ago but I’m a local in ellicot city and to my knowledge only one person died. The city has been built back up now and nothing has happened since!

NaiMe ...No That Would Be Here In Detroit..We Need Sewers..
Scary
The faster you live the sooner you reach the end.
😨😱😰
Seems like a pretty unwise place to have built a town. This is an old floodplane predating this town by thousands of years. Nothing Biblical here. Just people not understanding how and where to build towns.
Hope there were no fatalities due to this flooding.
Obama would be risking his life to save people, but here goes trump.... loving and living his perfect life. 🙄
This is G-D’s punishment for MD voting for Biden as president!

gangsta disciples?
More rain is coming I hope city is getting prepared just in case 😔😔 the Mother Nature is so powerful 😔 🌪🔥⛈🌨🌦🌈☄️
What if this was Beryl?
You know, there has been some of the worst flooding in history along the eastern part of the country. I the Mpls sunday paper, there are TWO articles about the lack of water in the west. They want to syphon water from the great lakes to the south west. Now the states that border those states say NO,NO,NO, but we must understand that we get a high % of our food and other crops from that area. But some thing must be done. The drought looks like it will last many more years. Now the east has all this water just flowing into the ocean. How can we harness all this water and send it to the south west? Now that would be a big deal.
he’s sitting inside a building with all that happening?
Is he supposed to jump into the water???
SIGN OF THE TIMES!!!
Hans *slight wind* Sign of the times!
Rains everyday in the world
I lived in Ellicott City for 6 years and that street floods on a regular basis every couple years because the city was built on sea level next to a river. The city has been there since the 1700s. It has flooded lot's of times and always recovers. No end times here. Move on.
No sign time start for
154angel154 can you please stop ....

Lmao!
When the Lord Jesus brings judgment upon your land, remember to repent, and repent according to (KJV Job 33:27-28) because the Lord says in (KJV 2 Peter 3:9) that he is not willing that any should perish, but all to come to repentance . Jesus our Lord be with you all, Amen.
Just an isolated natural disaster. God didn't bring judgment on Elicott City. smh......

Its ok its Maryland who cares
Coming from someone who has lived in Maryland their whole life and been to Ellicott city many times, I can tell you this is a very tragic event and your comment is extremely insensitive to the people who are losing their entire livelihood due to this occurrence..
Id like to have some water front property and fish off my back porch
