This is like 5 years later but I live less than two minutes away from ellicot city, my mom and step dad almost got swept away in it because when they were driving thru it was just coming up on the roads. I was so lucky to be in a town north with my biological dad that day. The like one person found dead was found right near my school.

Damn! This town can't get a break! After July 2016, I would think they take some precautions to avoid this again.

Dude, this town in prone to flooding and has been since the 1800s. If they're stupid enough to keep building there they should come to expect this.

Yeah there's no easy fix. This street is basically just a funnel for Howard County's catchment area. It would cost more than the town is worth to bore a tunnel through the hills to the Patapsco River.

I was looking at Weather Underground's WunderMap. You can see the amount of rain that fell in the area on their map. Just west of Ellicott City got 7.48 inches of rain. Just East of Ellicott City got 13.38 inches of rain. Just south of Ellicott city got 14.6 inches of rain. That's historic rainfall totals in just a short period of time. There has to be lots of flooding in the Catonsville area too. Very sad.

You know, there has been some of the worst flooding in history along the eastern part of the country. I the Mpls sunday paper, there are TWO articles about the lack of water in the west. They want to syphon water from the great lakes to the south west. Now the states that border those states say NO,NO,NO, but we must understand that we get a high % of our food and other crops from that area. But some thing must be done. The drought looks like it will last many more years. Now the east has all this water just flowing into the ocean. How can we harness all this water and send it to the south west? Now that would be a big deal.
