I've been digging for a good tutorial for a while. You have skills and you know how to teach it man. Thanks a lot. Please continue. You're the best out there so far...
I like your version of the joe cooley scratch da best but how come theres so many variations from dj to dj?????how long did it take you to get decent at combining diff patterns of scratches???
correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that when you demo it there's several times when you do an extra baby scratch after the tear and before the chirps. And, sometimes it seems like you just do two fast babies and then three chirps. Am I wrong?
@0marbrav030 at about 4:49 she is saying "oh yea" not " i am" which is at the beginning of a live recording from RUN DMC named "live at the funhouse" it starts by DMC saying "oh yea, check this out". if you want "i am" , a few seconds in he says "i am". He says "i am dmc, funky fresh for '83". that question is 2 years old but hey, its the answer.me and my friends made a game of identifying scratches.
ITS PRETTY AMAZING THAT I'M LEARNING THIS FROM A FEMALE...(DONT GET OFFENDED)...I'VE BEEN AROUND THE VIRAL UNIVERSE LOOKING FOR GOOD TUTORIALS AND QBERT, DJANGELO AND YOU I VIEWED OVER 3000 TIMES LEARNING HOW TO SCRATCH, AND NOT IN DAT ORDER...1ANG,2SHORTe, THEN QBERT JUS CUZ OF TEACHING STYLES YOU ALL ARE DIFFERENT...WOW AMAZINGLY PRECISE
How do you create combinations of scratching, and also, do you make up random scratch sequences on the spot?? P.S. Loving the tutorials. Very understandable.
Hey DJ Short-e! As always, thanks for the great tutorials! Just wondering if you pull the record back 3 or more times on the tear when you go fast? Sounds a lot slicker than a simple fast tear! Thanks!
i just have one question to ask, do you need two turn tables or one turn table? does it matter, i would prefer two, but i just want to know the difference. -Martez, The Student-
how many man hr r should i say women hrs did it take you to get relativly comfortable scratching...da basics..down???? I feel i am able to do the scratch b;ut cant get the precision or speed dat you have and I"m unable to put patters together with out having such long pauses between the diff scratches???? but I'm a keep pushing and practicing..???
are your cross fadrer settings set oppositely? i see you're closing it when you slide to the left, and when you open it, you're going away/opposite direction or side that your turntable is....
YEAH YOU GOT KEEP DA FUN IN IT..DAT HAS ME GOIN AND GOIN..I APPRECAITE YOUR RESPONSES..AND I"M A TRY NOT TO BUG U TOO MUCH...ITS VERY ENCOURAGING TO PICK YOUR BRAIN..THANKS YO
OK I think i got this: you're doing: -stab -swirrel -Chip,Chirp,chirp -baby -stab- swirrel -chirp,chirp,chirp -let go(end) All this in 8 beats, crispy clear. Right????
We were doing these scratches back in the 80's before they had names given to them. But i'm pretty sure Howie Tee put this on wax first with the song.. Howie's Teed Off

What technique do you use to perform the rhythm change (triplets?) at 5:20? Sounds great. Need to get that into my Joe Cooley to vary it up. Thanks
The best Joe Cooley tutorial on RUclips. Now I know the part I struggle with - it's the tear/skribble.
Back to the drawing board!
Thanks much, Emma!

correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that when you demo it there's several times when you do an extra baby scratch after the tear and before the chirps. And, sometimes it seems like you just do two fast babies and then three chirps. Am I wrong?

Hello, greetings, I really like your videos. One question, where can I get the disc you use for the scratch? I'm from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico
It's called "Super Seal" by Qbert - possibly on his website, although I am not sure about shipping!
I thank you very much I will try to find out
@@studioscratches It asks which disk is which volume? because there are several
@@studioscratches consegui el super seal bizzarro 12 pero no trae todos los efectos conocidos

I hope you can help me with the disk model you have, thank you

Love this, thanks :) my decks are all packed up coz we're moving but can't wait to get back to it.
Hey DJ Short-e! As always, thanks for the great tutorials! Just wondering if you pull the record back 3 or more times on the tear when you go fast? Sounds a lot slicker than a simple fast tear! Thanks!
i think if you do it fast, the back movement is not a tear, its just a scribble. i think acutally this combo is a scribble with 3 chirps.
i just have one question to ask, do you need two turn tables or one turn table? does it matter, i would prefer two, but i just want to know the difference.

Love this scratch! Just downloaded the beats for scratch practice and nailed it! Your tutorials are awesome, even though you scratch hamster style lol
Adam Sparkes Thanks for watching Adam!
Much respect! ! What is the name of the record? Anyone.
Love the way you speed up your chirps!
Shit sounds dope like the scratching and the beat
Tru, In Amsterdam this scratch was famous as the Howie Tee scratch.About the year 1986/87.
Why did you put the cross fader button in reverse so it's in the opposite direction?
Do you kind of scribble those really quick tears in between the chirps? I can't seem to get that sound down.
yes and I have a better tutorial in my online school now: schoolofscratch.com/joe-cooley/
Thank you so much, was alot of help ... YOU ARE A VERY GOOD TEACHER
Thanks for watching! Glad it helps!
where did u get that vinyl ? on the internet maybe ? :D
is there a QA to this beat r a free beat friday?..so I can practice da cooley

how many man hr r should i say women hrs did it take you to get relativly comfortable scratching...da basics..down???? I feel i am able to do the scratch b;ut cant get the precision or speed dat you have and I"m unable to put patters together with out having such long pauses between the diff scratches???? but I'm a keep pushing and practicing..???
i cant count cuz i'm only seeing 2 chirps after the tear???am i wrong
I found this a little bit awkward always fitting the full flair in as the chirp sounds best when starting the scratch just before the sample starts
keep practicing!
are your cross fadrer settings set oppositely? i see you're closing it when you slide to the left, and when you open it, you're going away/opposite direction or side that your turntable is....
Yes it is set to hamster / reverse - www.studioscratches.com/hamster-reverse-vs-regular-scratching/
Anyone Know where I can find the "I am " Scratch sample?
YEAH YOU GOT KEEP DA FUN IN IT..DAT HAS ME GOIN AND GOIN..I APPRECAITE YOUR RESPONSES..AND I"M A TRY NOT TO BUG U TOO MUCH...ITS VERY ENCOURAGING TO PICK YOUR BRAIN..THANKS YO

My needlz always skip to another track, please help me
I know you know your stuff but from watching others do the joe cooley this dont look da same????
How is it possible to do a tear that quickly? I’m amazed.
lots of practice!
Very nice. What is this music name? ?
Thanks!
Beat used:
studioscratches.bandcamp.com/track/glide-to-the-slide-100-bpm
Can't I use the volume control instead of the fader?
if you wish! A crossfader might have a tighter cut in point thought and be easier.
sounds like the theme song from MR ED when your counting by 9 . a horSe is AMhose of course of course
do u mean aahh yeah ?
Gotta get my chirps cleaner before trying this. Great vid! :D

3:31 Is the crossfader reversed?
Yes! www.studioscratches.com/hamster-reverse-vs-regular-scratching/ for more info on why.
We were doing these scratches back in the 80's before they had names given to them. But i'm pretty sure Howie Tee put this on wax first with the song.. Howie's Teed Off
SHORT-e your videos are awesome and very helpful
Howie's Teed Off, 1986
No disrespect but Howie Tee was the first to do this. Joe Cooley later in the game
