I am 68 years old, and this is not a teen drama, this show is for everyone.
The only person here who understood this show. I’m a psychologist and I was blown away by the writers of this show and their understanding of how human psyche works. Absolutely ingenious writing.

I liked this a lot - I LOVED The Originals. It explored themes of family, home, loyalty, and trust

I don’t think I have ever seen Blake so talkative and enjoying a show so much 🤣 This is definitely a teen DRAMA, the first 4 seasons are probably the best before it gets ehhh but I’ve watched the whole thing through atleast 5 times and am excited to do it again with you guys so please continue this! 😭
I completely agree. I liked this show fine but got bored around the 3/4th season. Thankfully they made TO, which I still count among my favorite shows.

I’m seeing a lot people just starting to react to The Vampire Diaries like it just came out lol 😂. Everyone is starting to realize this cash cow and its massive audience but guess what, I’m all here for it! Hope you guys put out the content fast though
A couple non spoiler information for you guys, that you asked in the end there. First, the vampires here still have their human eye colors, Damon's eyes are just insanely bright like that naturally LOL. The fog and crow were just pilot things, when you shoot a pilot to greenlight a show, you add things you think will work, but sometimes they greenlight it and ask to take away a few things. It was supposed to be significant, but it isn't, doesn't exist anymore after the pilot. And the rest you will figure out with time, but Damon did say that Elena is a copy of Katherine. In the picture you can see they look exactly alike (i mean it is the same actress for the picture of Katherine). So you will understand the significance later lol
Keep watching guys!!! There’s a reason it went for 8 seasons. The characters get so much greater and later seasons bring even more great character additions!

With 171 episodes of TVD, 92 episodes of TO, and and 68 episodes of "Legacies, hopefully we'll have years and years of Mystic Falls content to enjoy from our guys.

@@kidneyless_dog its def. a bit more "teen drama" than the other two but i personally liked it more than the originals. i found it fun. IMO it was more like supernatural vibes with the monster of the week but also a bit lighter and comedic.

Did not expect this at all but I'm so here for it!!! This is an awesome show. I can't wait for you guys to see more of Damon, he's a menace but he's honestly the goat and he grows on you later on in the seasons. And yeah, vampires have to be invited into the house. There's gonna be a lot of interesting lore regarding them that comes up in the next few episodes. I'm glad to see Blake enjoying it 😆

Fun facts:
The show is based on a book series by L. J. Smith. It premiered in 2009 and ended in 2017 after 8 seasons. It has had two spin-off shows: The Originals and Legacies (haven't watched Legacies but The Originals is SO good).
Creators Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec were also writers/producers for the most of the Scream movies.
Ashlee Simpson was the CW network's first choice for Elena, while Zach Roerig (Matt), Michael Trevino (Tyler) and Paul Wesley (Stefan) originally auditioned for Damon.
Nina Dobrev (Elena) and Paul Wesley have both admitted that they didn't like each other for the first few months of filming. They later became good friends (and still are).
The pilot was filmed in Vancouver but the rest of the series was filmed in Covington, Georgia.
Also, you don't seem to have noticed Katherine looks IDENTICAL to Elena (it's the same actress), hence Damon's "dead ringer for Katherine" comment.
Nina Dobrev is Bulgarian/Canadian and her full name is Nina Kamenova Dobreva. She was in Degrassi: The Next Generation and has been in movies such as Too Young To Marry, The Poet, Fugitive Pieces, The American Mall, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Let's Be Cops, The Final Girls, Flatliners, XXX: Return of Xander Cage, Dog Days and Love Hard. She and Ian Somerhalder (Damon) were in a relationship for a few years during the show. She is now in a relationship with snowboarder/skateboarder and Olympic Gold medallist Shaun White and co-owns a wine brand with her friend, dancer/actress Julianne Hough.
Paul Welsey is of Polish descent and his full name is Paweł Tomasz Wasilewski. His first role was on the soap opera Guiding Light where he starred alongside Brittany Snow (from Pitch Perfect, John Tucker Must Die, Prom Night). He's had recurring/guest roles in 24, Smallville, The O.C., Everwood, American Dreams, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Law & Order: SVU, Cold Case and Army Wives. He starred in the miniseries The Fallen as well as the shows Tell Me a Story & Flowers in the Attic: The Origin and movies such as Killer Movie (a comedy horror/slasher movie where he met and starred with his ex-wife Torrey DeVitto), Elsewhere, Before I Dissappear, The Late Bloomer and Mothers & Daughters. He currently stars in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Ian Somerhalder had guest starred in TV shows like CSI and Law & Order when he got his first regular role on LOST. He is married to Nikki Reed who played Rosalie Cullen in Twilight. Since 2020, he and Paul have owned the whiskey brand Brother's Bond Bourbon.
Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy) also starred in Everwood and later, Chicago Fire. He is the grandson and namesake of legendary actor Steve McQueen who was popular in the 1950s to 70s. He is also cousin to Enrique Iglesias and Julio Iglesias Jr. Interestingly he is one year older than Nina who plays his older sister.
Kat Graham (Bonnie) is a singer as well as an actress and has appeared in several music videos. She also had minor roles in The Parent Trap and 17 Again, along with playing Jada Pinkett Smith in a Tupac biopic called All Eyez on Me.
Candice Accola (Caroline) is also a singer and toured as a backing vocalist for Miley Cyrus in 2007/2008 and appeared in her 3D concert movie. From 2014-2022 she was married to musician Joe King from the band The Fray who sing the song at the end!
Zach Roerig (Matt) had a few recurring roles on soaps like As The World Turns and One Life to Live. He and Candice also dated for a year during the show.
Kayla Ewell (Vicki) has starred in movies such as Just My Luck with Lindsay Lohan and Material Girls with Hilary & Haylie Duff. She has appeared in various TV shows such as Freaks and Geeks, The O.C., Roswell, New Mexico and The Bold and the Beautiful. Her husband, Tanner Novlan, is currently starring in the last one.
Michael Trevino (Tyler) has also starred in Roswell, New Mexico along with Summerland, 90210, The Riches and Cane.
Sara Canning (Aunt Jenna) is only one and two years older than Nina and Steven who play her niece and nephew.

I would never have expected you guys to react to Vampire Diaries. I mean, its cool - I was def a fan of this show back in the day - but would never have expected it to even be on one of your polls. You must have a big female audience! It is a good show - especially the first few seasons... super solid! Gets a little off later on but worth it if you're a completionist.

I'm stoked for this! Season 2 is really when it starts to get good, for me. If you make it deep into this show, you'll have to watch the spin-off show too, called The Originals. The backdoor pilot is towards the end of season 4 of TVD, so after that would be a good time to start The Originals. It's absolutely awesome too.
Vampires are portrayed with slightly different powers depending on the show/movie but generally vampires have super speed, strength, smell, hearing and sight and will die or burn in sunlight and have to be invited in to any home if it is occupied by a living person, they can go in vacant houses, etc and the older the vampire the stronger the powers
Heres hoping this goes well and theyll love TVD so much that when its the right times theyll react to both of its spin-off's.

Blake, Corey, and Igli please continue to bring the Vampire ( supernatural ) content to the channel by reacting to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" ( 1997 - 2003 ), it's spin-off "Angel" ( 1999 - 2004 ), "Interview With the Vampire" the film ( 1994 ) & the series ( 2022 - 2024 ), the entire "Twilight" Saga ( 5 films - 2008 - 2015 ), and of course the two TVD spin-off's when it is time.
All the shows you just listed are terrible except for the spinoffs

ALSO while we're in the vampire hype train i'd highly recommend yall start watching "interview with the vampire" (the tv show)! 🧛♂🧛♂ season 1 came out in 2022 and season 2 is currently airing weekly, it's genuinely one of the BEST shows out there right now! so so good
I watch a few of these reaction vids…This series is so awesome. It has so many literary and cultural references throughout…it’s so well written. Damon especially has some the greatest lines. Music is perfect throughout too. They showed you the photo of Katherine already.

I absolutely loved this show - all 8 seasons - some better than others but all great. Like all pilots, this was basically character set up and it takes a few eps to really ramp up but well worth the wait. Damon was always my favourite character. Everyone is well cast and does a great job with their own characters.
I never knew I needed this until I saw it from YOU GUYS!
This is a must watch and definitely more then once a week if possible 🙏

This show is amazing, I hope you'll fall madly in love with it. It has its issues, of course, and it's definitely a product of its era, but unlike a lot of long running shows, it never gets boring and the spin offs are phenomenal as well ❤
