  • Canzona by Swedish composer Gottfrid Berg (1889-1970), played on the 1963 Hammarberg organ in Boda Church, Rättvik, Sweden. The organ has some pipe material from the previous 1874 Åkerman organ. Here I'm using:
    b. 1: GR: Rörflöjt 8', Flöjt 4', Sesquialtera II; CH: Gedackt 8', Regal 8'; PED: Subbas 16', Borduna 8'.
    b. 14: + GR: Principal 8', Oktava 4', GR/PED.
    b. 27: - Oktava 4', Sesquialtera.
    b. 28: - Principal 8'.
    b. 29: + Sesquialtera.
Gottfrid Berg (not a relative of the performer) was a Swedish organist and composer, born in Stockholm. From 1916 to 1955 he was the organist of Heliga Trefaldighets kyrka (Holy Trinity Church) in Gävle.

MID WEEK BONUS!🎁 A beautiful and somehow autumnal canzona by the dear Gottfrid Berg.🍁Canzona means song in Italian, and here two voices sing in dialogue, soaring high above the pedal part like two birds. And for some reason, the more vivid middle part makes me think of birds in flocks, on their way south for the approaching winter.🐦🐦🐦🍂 Maybe you see something else? Hope you like this little gem, and as always -don't forget to click the thumbs-up and subscribe!😃
