  • We are at the intersection of Newport Avenue and Beach 116th Street in Rockaway Park, where we see a number of vintage buses, as they depart for Jacob Riis Park. The trip was a charter trip for the Transit Museum, which got to Rockaway Park via a special vintage subway train. Here, we see, in order, 1956 Mack bus 6259, followed by 1966 GM New Look "Fishbowl" 1059, followed by 1973 Flxible 7340, and finally 1958 GM Old Look 9098. Enjoy the noise of all of the Detroit Diesel engines. We will see even more buses in Part 2. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on August 20th, 2011.

In the time of The Mack Bus as well as the GM Fishbowl and the GM Old Look, in 1948 to 1953 the fare was 10 cents. From 1953 to 1966 the fare was 15 cents and drivers made change.

@NTCT Enthusiast: #3535: The Q35 Rockaway/Flatbush Ave bus was in regular revenue service at the end of its line at B116th St and Newport Ave in Rockaway. The other busses were running the fan trips for the day, (not on a line run/revenue service) and were mixed in at B116th St for the completion of the fan trip.
