Chris, thank you for finding gold. I truly enjoy listening to Lucy and there are only a few artists who bring me to chills and tears like she does. In all of the videos of Lucy I've watched I am in awe of her breath control, her vibrato, and her rock-solid pitch (never heard a bad note or one that drifts up or down).

Awsome analysise Juliet, I am 60 and my wife is 63, we are both long time musicians, my wife is a rock power house vocalist, and in all our years never has my wife been intimidated by a female vocalist, the only 2 that gave her a challenge were Babs and Whitney,...well until this little 14 yr old blew us away with Hallelujah, but it wasn't until we heard her do a cover of Run that we just were like, ok this little girl is the best controlled vocalist we have ever heard... that said would you please anilize her performance of Run.. it is her soft head voice notes that impress us the most, how she utilises her almost yodel like break in the note to lead into a beautiful vowel note ( E,A.O,U,I ) and the control of her vibrato is second to none.. so if you could help us understand what this little talent is doing that is blowing everybodies minds..
How refreshing to find someone not familiar with Evergreen and therefore not biased by Barbra's version. I grew up during Barbra's prime and couldn't imagine anybody but Barbra singing Evergreen. I had to listen to Lucy several times to get Barbra's version out of my head. Sure enough, I can now replace Barbra's version with Lucy's version in my head. It's fun to hear somone young, fresh, and upcoming have the courage to take on this song. Excellent. Pefection all the way. And I love hearing you, Juliet validate what we think we know.

Also I have little use for live performances as the sound is alway poor and they are very noisy, hard to hear the singer clearly, I would rather listen to a recording without the noise and with a quality recording !!!

Barbra and Paul won an Academy Award for composing this song. Barbra was the first female to win this award..They also won Golden Globe awards for this song. You are completely right. Her low range is "warm" and her high range is clean , without any screaming.
I would like to had , the last note is very long , but in all the song , there are many very long notes , I think it is why you feel " gliding" or " surfing" during the video.

Lucy sings with such genuine soul, way beyond her years. Where does it come from? It's like she's returned back to Earth from a former life. She's totally believable in every way. it's as though she's singing to each and every one of us separately, and for me, that's 90 percent the art of singing.

Two class acts - no doubt about it, Lucy has the best voice and you are the best reactor/analyiser. So that I can see you tear up again, next reaction should be to "You raise me up" duet of the 2 sisters.
We are all going crazy over Lucy. How can she continue to improve so much. Every song she sings she takes us on a journey. I love the softness in her song n she’s able to take us up n down very easily but oh so do gently without losing any strength or power in her voice. You said” forget about surfing, I’m on a yacht”. Well I like to think the control of her voice is like she can control the size of the gentle waves rolling into shore and can control their size the way she uses her voice ( up n down) and at some stage we can expect a Tsunami! 😱😊😂 when she takes in those breaths ready to rise to the top. Such a special young lady who is so mature in her control yet she can hold the high n low pitches like a seasoned singer

Juliet, I can't resist watching this piece. But it tears me up emotionally. Right from the beginning, with those soft and very pure and light notes, along with her beautiful vibrato, it sets the tone for the whole song; very light, endearing, and inviting us into the moment. All the way through it is very emotional; a perfect love song. As you previously mentioned, Lucy really pulls some notes/words. It comes through in a lost of her renditions. Back on your review of "Smile" is where I first heard you mention it. Even without 'pulling' she carries her notes to completion. some singers have shorter pronunciation when more 'dead air' between words. Not Lucy, she's absolutely fantastic. I'm out of superlatives. 😀
Juliet, I'm right there with you -- Lucy really soars in this rendition. Plus, in the second 'ever' at the end I saw what you called a Lucyism, the head bounce. Additionally, at the end of that long, unwavering last note, she slipped into the vibrato and also terminated it smooth and nice before the exhale. This video was just as you said; smooth sailing, peaceful, serene, and, to me, very emotional. MORE: It was the first 'ever' that had the head bounce. You mentioned the 2 ever's being tied to same breath; Lucy does that a lot. In several of her renditions she blows right past where one would normally take a breath, then takes a breath for more excellent voice to follow. Exquisite !

It's so great hearing you describe Lucy's voice in such technical and glowing terms. I fell in love with Lucy when I heard her sing Hallelujah a little over a year ago. And that love has only gotten stronger and stronger with each new song she sings, and it appears that that's happening to you too! Which is why your reactions to her have become my favorite. No one gets as excited or emotional over Lucy's singing as you do! I have no one in my life to share my feelings for Lucy with and that gets so frustrating because I want everybody to see and hear how great she is! That's a billionaire's super yacht, her voice is so rich. Her low register so resonant and warm and the highs clean and pure, stunning, shame it was so short., that last note the length is not a problem for a musician like Lucy it is the perfection with the controlled crescendo and the perfect vibrato. Great reaction Juliet I always look forward to your reaction to Lucy. I think she sung this beautifully and as usual made it her own. She is amazing when you don´t think she can get any better she does. How does she do that. I think she is the best female vocalist out there today. That last note I counted it to 17 sec. and she still ended in a perfect Vibrato. that has to be amazing in itself. Thanks for keeping up with our Fantastic Lucy I will inform you of anything new that comes out. I have thought that maybe you should If you have not already done so go back and listen to some of her older music when she was younger. She has recorded some fantastic songs.

Hi Juliet, I have a Lucy Thomas recommendation. She did "Wind Beneath My Wings" about a year ago. It shows a lot of things about Lucy. No wild vocal gymnastics, just beautiful serenity. She shows her rich, warm lows, excellent vibrato, etc. Consider checking it out.

Lucy is the best!
The last note was around 14 seconds, but several phrase in the song where sung on one breath. The two before the last were 10 seconds each and they included runs and volume changes..

Would love to hear your reaction to "All By Myself". Lost my wife of 52 years several months ago. Found Lucy on RUclips and her version of this song has really ministered to me.
Every generation or two a phenomenal super talented female vocalist suddenly just shows up out of nowhere like nobodys business. Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion are the two best examples. Ladies and gentlemen we have another great one among us and she is only19 years old. Lucy Thomas is just that person.

Hi ya Juliet - Gosh I always look forward to your reactions and comments when you watch Lucy's videos. In my opinion, you could react to more of Lucy - just sayin. I wasn't up at 300a this morning like so many of the preceding commenters - so I am a little late. As usual, your comments are spot on and very informative. Being a professional vocalist yourself and a vocal coach, your comments are especially insightful. This performance from Lucy was her signature style. Very smooth with rich low register notes and building to the crescendo of crystal-clear high notes - and that last note held for 17 seconds was just icing on the cake. WOW she is great. As far as a fan base name - Robbie Dunbar has the 'Robbie Dunbar - Lucy Thomas Official Fan Club' channel but no name like the others you rattled off. Maybe we need to work on that - what do you say Wilbur, George, AnthonyL, Colin, Juliet, and the rest of the Lucy super fans? Juliet, a little more on Lucy's voice. You mentioned her holding that last note without wavering, then adding vibrato. I've listened to a lot of Lucy's videos and she does hold notes without wavering; no floating higher or going sour dropping down. She just holds it perfectly. I've even seen her hold a note, slip into her perfect vibrato, then end the vibrato to finish a word or phrase still perfectly on key. Also, the more l listen to others I can see how Lucy's "Pulling notes" really makes her voice and the rendition standout.
Juliet Lucy and Martha just released a new duet this am 9/5/23, WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD and Man has Martha grown and her voice developed, You will get a twofer on that one, and it is a different setting beautifully done and sung give it a look you will be impressed !!! Thanks !!!

I agree with that. But then Barbra Streisand has that awful nasal sound that comes in strongly from time to time in her singing. To me it's like fingernails down a blackboard. I could never understand why she was so staggeringly popular.
Same thing with Adele. Lucy is a much better singer than Adele and yet Adele gets all the attention and money. It's a strange world.

Juliet, today I ran across Barbara Streisand's version of Evergreen. Maybe I'm overly biased but I prefer Lucy's version. Lucy has more body and depth to her voice. Plus, she does that 'pulling' of notes that you have mentioned and that makes her renditions more beautiful and endearing. Just the opinion of a seasoned music listener who still has a decent musical ear. I know excellence when I hear it in Lucy's technique and voice.
Juliet, another reactor said about Lucy: When she hits a note, she hits a note; no sliding etc. You can see that in the 'Ever, ever' at the end. Those jumps just landed on the note. Perfect. Sorry for the plethora of comments but Lucy's voice does things to me just as she does to you. 😂

If that's her preference, then that's the answer! I don't think I've seen all the ideas, but I love "I Love Lucies" and "Lucyholics" personally!
The end note, not sure about beats , but 13-14 secs ,so effort less and vibrato telling you I can go longer! Don't think this could be sung any BETTER! And her ability here at 19 years of age is better than most pro's ever get!💜Visually beautiful but her facial expressions tell me she's in love with ME, 70 year old Tenor and musician. I really enjoy your "Reactions for Lucy Thomas" very thorough, very esthetic, and technical, that even amateur singers can appreciate falsetto, high sinus notes, mid range throat , and lastly diaphragm bass notes, you sharing these really helps most of us trully appreciate how good a singer is!😉
I believe Lucy's voice is not only due to voice training but also a gift from GOD. Just the voice you would expect from an angle. :)
Juliet, a few other vocal coaches have reacted to Lucy, but you are the only one that repeatedly reacts to her. In a way, I think it is sad, that more music professionals do not follow Lucy as you do. Your analysis of Lucy's talent just reinforces my opinion of Lucy's excellence as a female vocalist. Thank you so much for your honest and insightful critiques of Lucy's amazing vocal abilities. I would like to request that you react to my favorite male vocalist whose name is Geoff Castellucci. Starlight is amazing considering Lucy was only 15 when it was recorded, and To make you feel my love is fantastic also, you may have to go take a cold shower afterwards !!! ALSo Lucy's first commercial recorded song ONE DAY when she was 13 and see what Chris Broom of Cavendish records saw in lucy. To find it search You Tube for Lucy's Gentle Breeze and at the end ONE DAY is a suggested song, you tube has hidden it and it is a video of Lucy at the mic head phones and also several videos of lucy in her house and out doors , GENTLE BREEZE is a beautiful song also another of her dress rehearsal songs for ROSIE as is Starlight and Suddenly. How about the "I Love Lucies" for the fans. I know it might be a little dated and there are probably many who don't know what the reference is, but it is just a suggestion. Great reaction, Juliet. 'Evergreen' is a soothing song, but I could be lounging on a yacht only if it wasn't moving! Lucy did a great job covering the song, just as she always does!

Juliet Lucy’s supporters club have had some discussion about a suitable collective name but nothing is decided yet the closest we came so far was “Starlight runners” after, obviously her early songs ‘ Starlight’ recorded at age 14 and ‘Run’ recorded at age 10 then again at age 15

Juliet, you've got me on the bandwagon with you about Lucy. In many of her renditions she 'pulls' notes; it's one thing that really makes her singing stand out. I've also noticed about her, that compared to other singers on RUclips, that because of her pulling as-well-as her vibrato she finishes notes and phrases. Some don't seem to have the sustaining breath that Lucy does and they cut their voice and there's a lot more space of just background before the next phrase. Not quite staccato but not near a smooth as Lucy. Also, in this piece, in the first verse you uttered "ooh!" right when my mind also thought it. Sorry for the long comment but just as you, Lucy does things to me that get my fingers moving on the keyboard. Just personal to you, I really enjoy your critiques.
