The first video of Lucy's I saw was hallelujah. Id heard the song. My wife had a rendition, not sure who, it sounded ok, I grew up on rock n roll. Then I saw Lucy's and I was blown away. Since then I've become a huge fan. Maybe the best female vocalist I've heard certainly, in that conversation. Just love that voice.

Hi Jeff, now in my late sixties I grew up with both parents that were professional opera singer. When my mother was 17 years old, the Mellon family drove her in a limousine to Carnegie hall too sing as a soloist. The song was “love is where you find it” While she was singing they made a record recording and play that on the first commercial radio station United States. KDKA in Pittsburgh. My mother’s last employer was Rodgers and Hammerstein. Also worked with gene Kelly, Meet Ferrante & Teicher. My mom was in 52 Broadway shows such as the original, Oklahoma, Porgy and Bess, Annie Get your Gun etc. That said I know a good voice when I hear one and love all types of music if well done. When I came across Lucy I’ve never been so go blown away in every aspect in the gift of singing. At the end of the song her holding that sustained note with such breath control (which my mother was very adamant about being a professional singer) if that was enough notice how Lucy was not gasping for air at the end of that sustained note, unbelievable! She has perfect pitch. As you pointed out we here a little air/breath coming out before she sticks that note. Doing that creates a perfect nuance, creating the emotion, gives personal feelings to the song. Also what I love about no background gimmicks some butterfly flying etc. It’s just her and that beautiful face and killer eyes and outcomes as smooth as silk this global incredible unbelievable voice. Jeff, just think how young she is. She’s a vocal coach’s dream!!! I have never in my lifetime seen a singer where her beauty matches her voice and her voice matches her beauty! How could a man not fall in love with her. Wow glad I'm not her dad lol

I agree absolutely with your comments about Lucy's vibrato - in my opinion it is one of the best ever.
Lucy and Martha just did “What a Wonderful World” . Came out today. I have made this comment before. Listening to Lucy sing is is the greatest but to get the full effect you need to watch her sing. The way see looks at the camera makes it seem like she is singing directly to me. Also her facial expressions
makes it look like she is singing directly from her heart. The best female voice out there, but watching her is unbelievable.

I can't tell you how many times I've listened to her version of hallelujah I'm like literally obsessed with her cover I've heard the song by many other artists like Alexandra Burke but there's just something about Lucy's version that every time I hear it I want to hear it again she has a truly beautiful incredibly wonderful voice

Lucy is the most talented singer I have heard since Lara Fabian. I am extremelly frustrated that she is still only on youtube when she should be touring the world and doing all the major shows. She is so talented, it's one in a generation voice.
I don't think she needs to be anywhere else right now she's young and she's only 19 years old let her enjoy singing and performing and gracing our screens with her beautiful voice she doesn't need a fast-paced track to success besides I would hate to see this entertainment destroy such a lovely and graceful musician like Lucy

What I have understand is that Lucy sees singing and performing as her passion: that is want she wants to do. Martha loves singing as well, but more as a hobby. As another already wrote in a comment: on this very day they just have dropped a sister-duet. I love it!!

Could not agree more! In listening to over 50 videos of hers I have yet to hear any mistakes or deviations in intonation (including those quick "grace" notes between phrases). The quality of her tone is just about the best I have ever heard. Superb!
Lucy's voice is no doubt golden, she's just God gifted, after listening to her videos, it's hard to let go off her channel. My conclusion is she's re defining the music industry to be focused on the vocal capabilities of an individual than anything else. Much love and regards to you jeff.❤. The two kids did a duet for Christmas, and lucy has put a couple of more songs too.

Hi ya Jeff - thank you for a great reaction and analysis of this video. I may just be older than you and I remember Barbara singing this song as well. However, I have been listening and watching Lucy and Lucy & Martha for a couple years now - and I have to say that I have yet to see a better cover of ANY of the songs that Lucy has covered. Lucy just nails every song she has done and sings them better than the original. At least that is my opinion! Thanks again for reacting and supporting this incredible young lady - the best vocalist in the world today. Lucy & Martha just release another duet today - PLEASE check it out! Thanks Bruce. Ya, I remember when Barbara released this song, I was a wee lad but I remember it so well. She was known for having such a smooth and warm voice and to see Lucy nail this is no small feat!

Jeff, I'm reverting to a reaction that Lucy seems to pull from anyone who hears her sing. Just like almost all reactors you uttered "WOW" right after the first phrase she sang. I counted 5 wow's. Then after the long hold and vibrato on the last note you said "OMG". Lucy has that impact on most listeners. I value your opinion and all those exclamations tell me you like Lucy as much as I.

I keep coming back to this song ! Ok, I’ll admit it- I’m addicted to Lucy Thomas n her music , ESPECIALLY THIS SONG. I thought the song was just ok in the 70’s n yes I had heard it a few times by Streisand but it isn’t a song I gave any thought or much credit BUT NOW… Lucy has made the song gets. I’m sure Barbara Streisand would be proud of Lucy singing it the way she does . It’s not just about Lucy’s singing but halfway into the song, you have to love the way Lucy opens her arms, breathes in and Lucy uses those shoulders to really open wide her upper body to really reach for the top and oh my, she just bamboozles me with her effort . Lucy LIVES IN THE SONG TO OWN IT. Does that make sense . High or low , Lucy has so much power n it’s like she is a miracle of music , an angel in disguise, heck what else can I say ?

Jeff, additional comment about Lucy's vibrato. A fellow reactor said "Nobody does a vibrato like Lucy". And I wholeheartedly agree. It's right on key, perfectly undulating, and she can slip into and out of that vibrato so smoothly. As you said, "master class".

I've been a musician, vocalist, director, writer, etc. for over 50 year and Lucy has one of the finest voices and potentially best performers I've heard in all of my years. Her other videos are equally, if not more impressive than this. Her performances at even 14 years old were amazing and she's just getting better!

Just a layman here. I wouldn't know a vibrato from a falsetto ;-) But I recognize the voice of an angel when I hear one. Yet IMHO it's not enough to simply have a fine voice, Lucy Thomas sings from the heart and that makes all the difference.
Jeff, I've been waiting for you to get back to Lucy. This is a truly beautiful rendition. Those opening notes set the tone for the whole piece to be a tender love song. That "turn" you mentioned is part of the phrase "time won't change the meaning..." and that decresendo followed by the lilt in her voice really got to me (tears and chills). Also, from the first time I ever heard Lucy's vibrato, it never ceases to amaze me. Just like here, many times she puts it near the end and slips effortlessly into and out of that perfect vibrato.
