How To Cut A Mane

- Hi everyone! So Ethan's mane is out of control. It is super thick, and all over the place. And since I want to show him this summer, I wanted to get a handle on his mane, and decided to cut it.
Cutting a horse's mane has to be done carefully, or it will look really bad. So I put my hairstylist skills to use, and trimmed his mane! I used a thinning razor for the majority of the work, and also scissors. But they weren't regular scissors, they were scissors made for cutting hair. You get a lot better cut that way, and it doesn't look like I just cut a line in his mane.
Getting the hair really wet helps a lot, especially when using the razor. It is definitely more humane than pulling, and it doesn't look too bad. :)

Yeah! Great tips, and no pulling!!
Thanks this will help my mom.
Ethan is such a gentle horse... Certainly unlike mine!
Can you please do a unboxing video for the March heart to horse box? I'm thinking about getting buying one if I like it.
Hi Prancing Ponyz :)
Yes, The March Heart to Horse Box is supposed to be here today, so once it is, I will be uploading my unboxing of it :)
The Budget Equestrian ok yay
I'm sooooo late to this party!!!!! But lately I've been getting the guts to trim my horses mane. So naturally I go to youtube and start searching. All I could find was over bubbly young girls trimming their horses hair. Who tend to know everything and their way is the only way. Not that they dont know what their doing " in their world". But I needed someone a little less bubble gum, giggling, high fiving little girls. And I've got to say thank GAWD I found your video. Thank you for keeping this video up! Its obviously still helping people. I'm heading to your channel to see if you have a video on trimming the tail. Btw...what is "pulling the mane"? First I've ever heard of this?
Pulling a mane is taking that large tooth metal comb she showed and wrapping hair around it and yanking chunks of mane out
Only issue I see is when you are actually going to braid his mane it might still be too thick at the top... but if it works for you then great! :D I'm used to pulling manes after a ride or trimming with scissors or sensitive horses or horses that have an already thin mane.
that was a really helpfull video, thanks!
Love the razor instead of pulling!!
I saw someone do the razor thing with some weak sissors and it looked okay but ugh >_< I wish I had one of those razors but I don't want to damage my horses hair because I want to trim it since it's kinda nasty and dead feeling!!! So I don't know about that method with the scissors and straight up cutting it like you demonstrated looks kinda weird... it looks great, thanks for the video!
Oh my gosh. Thank you! When I pulled my mares mane it didn't pull it out from the roots and she had little stragglers at the top and it looked kinda bad at the top of the braids
Hansom boy 👍🏻🐴🐴
I usually just use scissors, the hair razor is a great idea! :))
