This is excellent advice, Joe! Especially to newcomers. I'd much rather have turrets that track correctly and decent glass, than all the other bells and whistles that don't mean squat. Without accurate turrets or good glass, you've just got a very ugly paper weight. 😂
I agree. Those high end scopes are out of sense with prices!

Agreed, only caveat I have to this is if you're going to get a scope with exposed elevation turrets, for the love of God make sure it has a zero stop.

I'm not sure if allowed but a quick technical question for someone with way more experience than me 😁. It's something regarding scope height that i don't find an answer to. How do you calculate the scope height with adjustable mounts? As you scope body is no longer inline with the barrel you can't use the simple calculation method i think. Is there a point on the scope that needs to be used? Does it have a pivot point? any insight is welcome.

The more knobs and buttons there are the more you need to remember to have set correctly. Forget to change your elevation or paralax at distance and you are going to have a bad day.

You sold me on the Leica Amplus 6. I actually sold my Swarovski X5i because the Leica was better and about 1/3 the price. Big time sleeper of an optic. I’m running 2 of them now and recommend to everybody at the range I work at in southeastern WI.
That glass is INCREDIBLE
@@CyclopsJoeVideosit really is. The best hunting scope I’ve ever looked through. Including Swarovski, Zeiss, Leupold VX6, SB and any of the Vortex including the Razors. Custom turrets are also an option for the Leica as well.

Joe, do you have a video on budget FFP scopes? I tried a discoveryopt and while it's accurate on a 17hmr/wsm the eye relief is absolutely piss poor.

Honestly, I've never used illuminated reticle once on any of my scopes. 😮🤔
Only time I did was for black bear or precision shooting on some of the darker targets. Black bear was pretty helpful. I wouldn’t say absolutely necessary, but was a big help.
