Thank you. I am salty on that one cause that is a big no-no for me. No matter how mad at my childhood friend I was, I would never allow myself to consort with their lifelong bully. Eloise better wake up fast on that one because that is character death if I ever saw one.

Colin thought that love was something that suddenly hits you when you meet that person, something that happened to him with Marina for example, that's why he never thought romantically about Pen because he met her when he was young and gradually had a friendship with her. Let's remember that Colin is still maturing and thanks to the experience of his brothers and the advice of his mother he will realize that there are many types of love. His love for Penelope was not a Lightning Bolt of love that fell on him suddenly, but a slow flame that grew over the years, and this season is when the flame finally consumes him completely.

....I don't care. I hate the trope of someone wanting and liking someone for a long time and then once they're ready to move on they then show interest. It's just gross and annoying. I don't find it romantic. It may seem romantic to some on screen but if you really thinks about it would be confusing and emotional. Like they were ready to move on and stayed friends but then you throw your feelings at them and ruin their resolve. It's almost always because of possessiveness. You knew this person was always going to be there so you take advantage of that but at the first sight of them going on without you and being okay without you, you feel possessive. That's not romantic to me.
Especially when they hold it out because then you're hurting two people if they decide to give you another chance. Them and the person that they were going to move on with. That's just icky behavior to me personally. I've seen it happen in real life and it's not pretty. All my friends were annoyed and told our friend to just leave them alone because they were messing with the other friends mental health and getting on all of our nerves. Like they literally crying in my arms and couldn't focus on their responsibilities. Nonetheless I will watch Pink podcast react to the third season. Will it likely my least favorite season because of the trope. Yes. Will I role my eyes? Yes. Will I dislike Colin by then end of the season. Most likely. I shall still watch them watch. Perseverance.
@@Des17S That is most romantic tropes tho, lol. You like them on screen but logistically, they are atrocious. Enemies to lovers is the perfect example of this. In real life, you wouldn’t get with someone who hates your existence, because that’s just gross, why do you detest my existence. Someone who’s annoying to me is someone who is annoying to me point blank period. And if you like me but you’re covering up with detest, that’s just petulant (which, although I did like Kanthony, I still agree with some people’s sentiments that it was kinda giving petulant behaviour). Be a proper grown adult and own up to your feelings, don’t pretend to detest me. But in the show, Kanthony manage to find their way to each other, and we think it’s cute and romantic🤷🏾♀️ Hate to say but that’s just how romance is on screen
@@notevenfunny_ I don't like either tropes on screen or in real life. Enemies to lovers can be okay (very few) but when it's a bully vs the bullied person....it's a no. That's not romantic on any level. Neither is anyone where it involves them having have killed someone each other knows. That's just not romantic to me. Others are usually them hating each other for no reason which is just boring. In this case with Bridgerton, I have always hated this trope. Since j was young enough to even understand romance.
This trope often appeared on kids shows and I hated it every single time. It felt evil to me like sabotage. The character has been liking that person since forever. They're constantly getting friend zoned and then they decide to finally give up and date someone else they like. Now that person finds out "you were in front of me this whole time". Like no. That's gross to me. I like it when people know without anyone else being in the picture that they like that person. Cause who's to say that the person isn't romantically interested necessarily but more so upset that their toy is getting taken away. Then 80 percent of the time it ends in cheating. Which is the ultimate disgust. Cheating ain't ever cute. I hate it. With a passion. I have to take a break any time it comes up in a show because it's like I know it's going to happen because they set them up as love interest but I just wish for once that the person discovered the others feelings before someone else gets involved. I start to hate them and then just pay attention to other characters to get through the show or movie. Like I can't. That's not romance. It's manipulation. End of rant.

I've seen some of the press tour clips and the Penelope and Collin actors have CRAZY good chemistry. They are completely charming and seem so nice which you don't always get from the romantic leads irl. It bodes well for their on screen chemistry.
I am a massive fan of Nicola Coughlan and she is so lovely to everyone in interviews. Doesn't stop me dreaming of real life Nicola/Luke romance though! Their chemistry is ❤❤❤!

It's nice that the actors have had two seasons of side-character work under their belts to build a rapport working together so there's ease and trust there, rather than compared to a "meet during a screen-test then hello they've been cast you'll be disrobing together for scenes possibly in a matter of weeks."

In the past seasons she had a different actress, and in the first she was away with family to practice her pianoforte or something. We saw her here and there in the background and she was also mentioned a few times, but amongst everything else in the show lots of people missed her.

Yeah, some people were especially sad about it because I think Daphne has a heart-to-heart with Colin in the book that some people are really going to miss in this season but I'm sure that that conversation will just get switched to a different female character, probably. Or maybe one of the older boys or something. But yeah, I'll miss Daphne.

The only time I had beef with Bridgerton's costume accuracy was back in S1 but since then I realized that this show is a fantasy/alternate universe of Regency era and I adore the costumes now.

If you watch one episode a week from part 1 instead of binging it, it perfectly leads up to the fifth episode being released for part 2. That's my plan so I don't have to wait four weeks between the parts.

I want them to reunite but Whitsledown should really only be Penelope’s. Eloise has a tendency to takeover things, and that was one of the reasons Pen kept it a secret for so long. Eloise could also write, but something she cares more about like politics!

Exactly! No one owes anyone their romantic interest. Sometimes love just remains unrequited, and that needs to be respected. So I don't agree with people being angry & saying that Collin doesn't deserve her or w/e cuz he didn't return her feelings for so long. BUT he crossed the line in making her a public punchline just for a laugh from the noblemen. That is not how you treat a friend, or anyone, indeed.
I think Eloise will trying to get in the way it seems like she likes to hold a grudge against Pen. I think she will tell on her to Colin but she will notice that Colin is in love with Pen and it is finally not just one sided love. Maybe Eloise forgiving Pen and giving her blessing will escalate things in part 2.

I'm all for the longing gazes between Pen and Colin 😭 I'm more excited about this season than all the others because I love an underdog arc and friends to lovers moment which is heavily needed for Pen. May cannot come quick enough 😩❤

I'm not an expert but I've studied about costumes and I'm IN LOVE with the costumes this season sm they all look SO GREAT it would be such a dream to be able to incorporate symbolism and meaning into any elements like that! The costume itself tells a story and they nailed it!!

I actually really like that Colin has never been interested in Penelope up until this point. We've seen instant attraction with Kanthony and Saphne. And as someone who identies as demisexual and demiromantic (needs an emotional connections in order to feel a physical or emotional connection), I struggle to relate to that. But Colin's slower approach to love feels really validating. It's not that Colin doesn't notice Pen or appreciate her. He stood up to Cressida for her. He tried to save her family from her grifter cousin. He writes letters to her in his free time. But Penelope has so many secrets and so many walls up, she needs to take it upon herself to show him who she really is and then he'll have that lightbulb (lamplight?) moment.

Hyacinth is the eighth child. She has 1 older sister, Francesca. This is Francesca's debut in society. I've no doubt we'll get Hyacinth's debut eventually, once we've found someone for Benedict and probably Eloise as well.

I'm SO INTRIGUED. It's SO different than the book already. It sticks to that friends to lovers trope. And Penelope does have a sort of feud with Cressida in her book so I'm intrigued to see how Eloise now ties into that. But of all the things in the book, even more than the mirror scene, I REALLY hope they keep the proposal scene in. Because she literally falls like flat on her face out of a carriage when he asks her. It cracks me up every time and I know these actors could do it justice.
I feel like this season is really setting the stage for the other ones with a penelope/colin storyline to fall back on to keep things going.

There are theories that we may get 2 proposals (in this scenario Peneope may reject the first proposal and that ep might be the end of part 1)

The comment that you guys made at the end about how we’ve already seen the “you’re great, but it’s just not you” trope in Bridgerton is so true! I never even thought about that. I’m not super creative, so I’m very glad I’m watching the story and not writing it. I am so appreciative of Julia Quinn for writing the original series and for all the writers who adapted these books for TV.
It’s one of my more preferred methods, as it’s realistic, but for a serialized show they may need to do more
As someone who lost their access to Netflix (used my parents account) after Queen Charlotte premiered, I watch your reactions to relive the show since I can’t watch it now. I WILL get the monthly netflix access just to watch it through once. Then it’s all you boys! Excited to see your reactions.

Penelope and Eloise (and Marina!) are such interesting characters who’s interpersonal situations are truly grey and I think that who’s “side” fans tend to lean toward really depends on whether or not they ascribe to the individual or the greater good.
For me, I obviously lean more towards Penelope’s perspective. This is because, as much as understand and sympathize with Eloise’s feelings of hurt and betrayal, I also see so many of her comments and actions as ignorant and willfully naive. She does things without fully thinking through the consequences, putting both herself and her family at risk.
❌‼️BOOK SPOILER START‼️❌In her story, this is literally the cause of her marrying - she decides to run off ALONE to a man’s home whom she’s never actually met without telling her family, leaving herself stuck in the situation where she has to marry him not only to protect her own reputation but also that of her entire family. ❌❗️❗️BOOK SPOILER END❗️❗️❌
Marina was very much the same in season 1. I sympathize with her perspective, and while I don’t think her actions were as naive as Eloise, I think that she was so focused on trying to grasp the best option for herself that she refused to acknowledge that by doing so she would absolutely ruin BOTH the Featherington’s and Bridgerton’s with a scandal much less recoverable for either family than the one penned by Whistledown.
Meanwhile, the reason that I agree more with Penelope over the others is precisely the reason anti-Penelope fans dislike her. She is fully knowledgeable about the potential consequences of her actions. She considers all of the angles and tries to find alternatives, and even her most controversial decisions are made with such tangible regret that we see her sobbing on screen multiple times, but they are decisions that she makes the way she does because they limit the damage to all parties involved as much as possible. Now, could she have done things differently if she thought bringing in someone to her secret was an option? Absolutely! But she didn’t think it was - something that, given what we see of her home environment and how her friendships are largely reliant on her supporting the other individual, makes sense for her character.
Anyway, all that is to say that I think people who tend to view these scenarios from the perspective of the individual also tend to agree with Eloise/Marina, where as those who tend to view from the perspective of the greater good also tend to agree with Penelope.
Philosophically speaking, neither perspective is “wrong”, but I don’t know that everyone contributing to the conversation fully understands that, which is where we get the black and white hot takes that blatantly attack these characters as awful people.

I’m excited. Also I love how they styled her. The hair alone is a 10/10. I loved how they had a peekaboo bang. It’s something out of a 40s noir which lends to the more mature Penelope, not to mention beefy Colin! Damn! Cannot wait!

I think the only people who are complaining about costume designs are hardcore Bridgerton books and/or regency fans. Honestly, any other their expectations should have gone right out the window during the first season, lol. The show takes SO MANY liberties, and it looks like season 3 will be no exception. There are A LOT of noticeable changes from the book, and I am 100% fine with that.
Hey, maybe they'll even make Colin likable😂😅.
(Seriously, there was only 1 moment in that book when I thought, "Okay, he's alright.")
honestly they should expect that by now lol. As someone who usually HATES TV show costumes for looking cheap, I love the vibrancy of the Bridgerton world... I just wish that trailer wasn't so dull and grey looking lol

Yeah, people have been complaining about the costumes literally since the first season... So it wasn't necessarily a huge surprise that people are STILL complaining about the costumes... But also it is a little bit surprising because like what were people expecting?!?!? The costumes are not going to randomly get historically accurate.
All of the costumes that we've seen have fit with things that we've seen those characters wear in previous seasons... I've seen some people really freak out about the faux fur sleeve dress that Cressida is wearing but in season 2 she ALSO had some pretty outlandish clothing and so it wasn't really out of character to see her in the big puffy fur sleeves tbh.
Another complaint I've seen is a lot of the featherington clothing is dresses that we've seen before that have just been altered slightly. But this has a in-story explanation because the featheringtons are kind of broke right now... So the recycling / reusing of the dresses in regards to the featheringtons is absolutely intentional.
Yeah, I've heard that book Colin has quite a temper (more so than the other male leads which do also ALL have a temper snapping moment in the books, from what book readers have told me. Which is yikes, tbh). And it makes him a kind of unlikable character at times.... You definitely aren't alone in not loving the characterization of Colin in the books. I've watched a couple of people review the book series and they have echoed your opinion, for sure

So I watched a few videos on the styling because this is my favorite styling so far, and one interesting thing to note is the scene where she is wearing the green dress, because she is dressed in darker shades, it’s her accepting her spinsterhood. Think about how Kate dressed in the beginning of season 2 but unlike Kate, pen’s hair is down which is a subtle sign that yes I am a spinster but I am dtf.
Also she’s in a lot of green which featheringtons have yellow representation and bridgertons are blue representation. So the green is a sign of their union. They did that with Daphne season 1. Simon was represented by red and when she married him she was in purple. So very interesting.
Also it’s so funny and sad that the top comment on the trailer is that Portia is finally proud of Penelope

it looks good and I am so excited! Each of the seasons the main couple seem to be a nod to a famous couple from literature- Antony and Kate were Elizabeth and Darcy from pride and prejudice, Colin and Penelope from the previous two seasons have been the set up for them to be a nod to Emma and knightly from Emma ( I'm not sure what couple from literature Daphne and Simon were supposed to be a nod too). and while Kate and Antony were clearly a nod to Elizabeth and Darcy, both season 1 and season two had references to pride and prejudice.
