Seriously. I went to my jeweler last week; and two men asked be buzzed in, asked silly stupid questions, created distractions, etc. I didn't feel afraid, but felt something was off and I felt they were bullcrapping. After they left, the jeweler realized they stolen a tennis necklace when he wasn't looking. Just freaking awful! It was a busy day, people were out at shops next door. I couldn't believe they were so bold.

I used to go there to buy nice clothes, accessories and makeup or perfume. I found the staff weren't nice. Not just ignoring me, they were very rude. It wasn't a one off experience, I noticed it several times so I stopped shopping there. If they don't want me as a customer, the message is clearly received.
Go where you’re wanted. Go where you’re appreciated.

I work at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills, CA.. we are SO DEAD! I have never seen luxury retail so quiet..
It’s almost like, what’s the point of buying luxury brand name if we are on the quiet luxury trend where we don’t flash names. 😩 i can’t justify spending thousands when I’m buying the name that can’t even be seen and then the quality issues are something else
Outside Philly, the King of Prussia Neiman has a lot less clothing on the floor to sell. Yes, mostly empty.
I’m in OC but I have to go to BH for Botox and I just dread it. The whole place reeks of weed and the vibe is just off. It really bums me out, I used to love going there years ago.
I'm going to Northpark tomorrow so will be interesting to see what the traffic is like there...

Please... It comes across as vapid and unrelatable and quite frankly very sad. Her life may consist of more than shopping but thats literally all she shows or discusses and in the way that she does, it does make her lifestyle seem quite sad and as if she's filling a void. Its odd. Even asking the question 'wow you guys, why is it so empty in Harrods...' is so out of touch and weird.
People are tired of being extorted by greed .
I think people are losing interest in luxury fashion because we are understanding that it’s no longer worth the time spent making the money to buy said products. People are more aware of the unsustainable ways luxury goods are made, and that the quality isn’t that much better than a fast fashion item. The economic crisis and sociopolitical state of this country has meant people are prioritising the necessities and booking holidays as a form of escapism. Luxury goods do not spark the same level of happiness as it once did. Ultra wealthy are the only ones buying luxury regularly now.
in england, apparently people are returning their PETS.... I don't know how they can do that.... but it's like Great Depression level bad for many people.
I agree. What a thoughtful comment! I've worn mostly vintage since I was a teenager with a few key items that are non-vintage and I'm so glad to see the "pre-loved" market being the focus of a new and sustained spotlight when it comes to consumer trends and aspirations. What's comical is all these worthy little socialist SJWs talk out of both sides of their mouths; one side is all virtue theatre about ethics, the environment and production concerns and the other is all about seeing how they can get away with jacking up the prices to such a degree that all red-blooded, vampiric, reptilian capitalists bow down to them. I have to laugh at this repulsive, clownish lack of self-awareness I so often see in the most sanctimonious people.
People don’t have money, they outpriced themselves and people are over luxury. It’s several things
I have noticed here in the USA. Restaurants are charging more and putting less on the plates. With prices the way they are I guess they need to make a profit at our expense.

On the designer floor the emptiness is because orders are being placed for fall/winter and it's easy to do this over the phone. I'm sure it will get busier once the orders start to come in. This is my favorite time to visit because I have the entire floor to myself, and I can talk to the SAs about the collection.

A lot of international luxury clients are also cutting back on shopping in the UK because of the VAT. Pre-brexit you could get a refund at the airport in the UK. Everyone I’ve encountered who’s not a uk/eu resident prefers to shop in the EU because it’s noticeably better value due to the availability of the VAT refund.
I don't know what it is but gucci just looks so cheap to me now. I went in store to shop and felt that all of the materials and fabrics didn't match up to the price.
Since when do we ecxuse us for wearing glases? Please dont do that. You Look good with or without them. And you need them to see clearly, so thats it.

I had colour analysis done 35 years ago. The firm was called “Colour Me Beautiful”. It was really useful & you got a folder with swatches to keep in your bag. I’m glad it has come back into fashion & I would like to be re-done (now that I’ve faded 😂).

The staff are horrible. We have enough bags & excess items already. My bills are more important, I’m enjoying my house.
For the first time in my life ive bought a superfake and there was 1 key reason i did this .... the first being that id always had this belief (or hope) that luxury was the one area where all sourcing and production was ethical and free of criminslity. If i spent a few thousand i at least hoped the artisan got a decent wage out of it. Since its been revealed thats not the case and these luxe brands are using sweat shops just like fast fashion brands... well no thankyou then, i wont be the monkey in the middle to pay thousands of dollars for it. If swestshops are unavoidable then ill just go there directly. Its also a bit of an f you to these brands too. They deseve it.
I don’t think I’ll get a super fake though I absolutely don’t blame anyone who does now, considering the abc lady Dior I purchased in 2018 is a fraction of the cost to make and like you mentioned, it’s not even a fair living wage for an artisan….
Well I mean they only wanted the Uber wealthy to shop there so….the other 90%+ are just priced out, they got what they wanted!
I buy when i can but the way even the basic necessities are expensive now its hindering my luxury buying. Id rather have my bills paid before I consider luxury buying.

I am going to age my self but I had my colour's draped in the 80's & I am a cool winter, jewel tones. It helped me pick my outfits. I do like gold so will sometimes ware mixed, silver & gold together.
I wish I was one of those women that just likes everything but I feel like we are living in the fashion Dark Ages. I used to love shopping. I find it incredibly depressing now. Prices are absurd, quality is a joke, very few things are actually designed to flatter the female form. Polyester is everywhere. In America, anyway. Maybe Europe is better.

UK clients shop tax free in Europe now. Tourist clients also shop tax free in Europe. Aspirational clients can’t afford to splurge any more. UK luxury market is suffering terribly. The big brands are struggling. I can see the UK luxury retail infrastructure shrinking considerably in the next year or two unless business turns around. Harrods and Selfridges are way down against last year.

I am into vintage luxury bags. The new stuff doesn’t appeal to me at all. The designs are awful, terrible quality and prices are insane.
My husband just got me a vintage Gucci Diana bag, I can’t wait to get it! I would rather carry bags that have heritage and a rich history.

Hi Sophie! I had my colors done years ago, my then boss at my job had a little party and everyone got their colors done. It actually really helped me because I had been wearing colors that didn't suit me at all! I'm a Summer with a flex toward Winter but only the lighter colors. Like you, I cannot wear black near my face. Enjoyed your London vlog but it did look cold!
Colour analysis is great for shopping! Helps you declutter things you don’t wear because they’re not in your palette, and buy things that are!

So like, emerald and ruby, taupe, light grey, soft cool pinks, blues, yellows and lilacs, white is another good one. I hope this helps!!xx🥰

I’ve been watching you for years and I’ve never thought you were a warm based season: spring or summer. You can rock the following colours very well: black, greys, blues & pinks very well in extremes as well ie light & dark (hallmark of winter)- there’s no black in summer season so 1 season left - winter!. You’re exactly what I thought you were.

Agreed. To be frank, I used to watch Sophie all the time but these days I find it a bit grating with the level of seriousness and importance she puts on shopping. It comes across and vapid and strange. I've never had the concept of buying for investment and simply buying because you like something. I'm over the whole 'luxury influencer' thing period. I don't need and have never needed anyone to convince me that an Hermes Kelly is desirable or that Dior makes good stuff...I know that. Its just weird at this point.
Thanks to social media, people are beginning to understand that luxury products are not worth their inflated prices.

Why to apologize for the glasses? You look good with them and they help you have your best vision. As an eyeglass wearer, I am not sorry for that 😊 I wore a few times contact lenses and it wasn't the nicest memory I have, unfortunately
a lot of transactions at stores like this are done privately so it's not always a sign of things not going well.

Those tiny bags and makeup? so adorable! if you had a Barbie doll, they would be perfect for her, hahaha. Finding your color palette is so important. Reds don't do much for me :( blues and grays, and i think some greens too, can make my face stand out. I recently noticed that i can wear dark pink lipstick, and dark green eyeshadow. I don't wear white because i am a messy person, and i don't always feel like washing/bleaching white stuff.
When I first saw that truffle, I thought it looked like a potato LOL! I love the Fendi boots. The color info is very interesting! Love the mini bags, I've seen those here but haven't bought one yet.

IM a northsider so team selfridges. I love the coffeeshop on the top floor. Their pistachio latte is worth the flight. The ambiance is also lighter and trendier. I feel like Harrods has an old vibe and is a bit sleepy. I also love liberty. I would have gotten the truffle Mac. Otherwise should have gone to pizza express lol

I shop at Fortnum & Mason. The staff have been much more helpful there than Harrods for me.

Yeah I noticed at terminal 5 Heathrow a few weeks ago - even though it was very busy… all the designer shops were EMPTY….

I did one of these tests where they analyzed by face and neck, I got soft autumn. I'm also neutral undertone so I wear both gold and silver.
