Tony Hadley - The 'Reborn in the USA' Performances.

This is a clip containing all of Tony's performance in the UK TV show 'Reborn in the USA. I recorded these from the TV at the time of the original broadcast onto super VHS tape and having long since digitised them, figured that somebody may want to see them on You Tube now. They don't seem to be around anywhere! The clips are a bit rough and ready - no fancy editing here! The footage does include the interview clips after each song and also one or two other bits featuring tony in and around America.
Tony was great in this show and deservedly won the series.

Cal_Irvine2012 I was going to put money on Peter Cox winning this, it's a shame that Peter fluffed his lines, if he hadn't of done that I still think he had a good chance of winning. On a footnote I've seen Pete and Tony many times in concert. They are incredible guys that have never forgotten thier working class beginnings. I'd buy them a beer anytime. Cheers

I remember sat in my Nana's Dining Room as a kid playing my various Spandau Ballet albums.
His voice is still as good now as it was 32 years ago and I'm 52.
Lovely guy and still very handsome!
Spandau Ballet can say what they want about why Tony left the band but at the end of the day, their loss.

Very accurate ratings you have for them. I believe George Michael has the same superior rating/vocal ability as Tony Hadley as well as Jami Jamison of the Survivor. A++. You gave the Duran guy a good, not great is appropriate. He did B on live shows. But when I went home with his Wild Boy 12" single I played it once I just took it back to the shop and exchanged for a Tracy Ullman 12" You Dont Know. He seems struggled to raise his vocal cord to the maximun and somehow could not able to achieve what he want. I couldnt take it no more. Japan had some better hits and productions in earlier days. No doubt Planet Earth was a pretty good start but nothing else I liked and stop it from there
I remember during his live aid rendition of " A View to a Kill" there was a part when he (Simon) failed to hit the right note. But overall I Iove these guys Spandau and DD has somehow shaped my teenage years in the 80s.
There's no way Tony Hadley wasn't going to win this, not even Peter Cox can touch him.

Hadley is great singer but it was gary kemp that pushed him. If you dont know who spandeu ballet are then look it up and you will realise that his performance is tepid
He didn't need to work that hard to win..he was always going to win, nobody else coup beat this voice or his ability to perform...
Are you serious? It was Tony Hadley's voice that made Spandau the global hit they were, it was Gary Kemp that destroyed it. This performance was one of the best of the competition and probably the best rendition of Mack the knife you'll hear. You don't know what you're talking about
