This made me cry. It's so beautiful. It's wonderful to me that he sounds exactly like he did on the original recording and that they made this arrangement lean in more to the upbeats, samba-like. What a breath-taking performance.
Gorgeous man, gorgeous voice. I could listen to this over and over and over again. He once winked at me from backstage when he was on The Ed Sullivan Show and I was in the audience. That was over 55 years ago
Robert Goulet's gifts are not what they once were, BUT they are still magically amazing and Mr. Goulet uses them to their best advantage and the excitement of the emotional musicality makes this person want to cheer, clap, stamp his feet in wonderous admiration of the heartfelt emotional feelings that are felt from his performance. That is Theatre! The kids today should watch these youtube videos and take mental notes on what Theatre is and is not!
He always nailed his signature song. Tell me who isn't in love with Julie Andrews? They always had a wonderful friendship over the years and were supportive to each other. Great to see.
My in-laws would go to all the musicals on Broadway in the 60's. Then my father-in- law would sing all the hits at home. This one is one of them, "If Ever I Would Leave You".... I wish I had witnessed it.
Billie Littlenecks What in the world happened to these wonderful types of music? Rap, heavy metal ? You can bearly dance to one and the only thing you get from the other is ringing eats for a few days....sad...
Huh? While I like Julie A. and Robert G. and lots of older stars, saying there is no talent today seems a bit crazy. Every generation has plenty of talent, but tastes and expectations are always changing.
Heard this song by this singer when I was 15 years old..... oh several decades ago and I never get tired hearing it over and over by the best baritone singer.
I had the pleasure of meeting RG in Memphis, TN, New York City, Las Vegas. Spoke to him. Even kissed his cheek. Will always recall those "blue eyes". Was sad to learn of his passing.
Lancelot Still loves Guinevere!! Gave me goose pimples. I wasn't born yet to see the original Camelot but I did see Richard Burton in the Broadway revival in the late '70s. I feel blessed!
Wow. He had to have been 70 here and still delivering a signature performance of this song. No wonder he was popular. Yep the 90s was also good to me in the sense that my generation got to know him albeit somewhat also. For he guest starred on Boy Meets World singing the national anthem and the animated series Recess providing the singing voice for Mikey.
Julie Andrew’s always my favorite Broadway star and this is such a great love song! We saw Robert Goulet when he toured as Arthur in Camelot! Bravo! This is musical talent compared to the crap produced by many now!
What a pair of stars. Julie Andrews and Robert Goulet are an almost matchless pair. Goulets only weakness was that he was a smoker and that aged him beyond his years. Still his voice was fabulous and his style was impeccable. If all that were not enough was there ever a better looking guy? I've always thought Philip Quast is the greatest musical singer ever, but his classic renditions particularly in his younger years have made me rethink that. A truly incredible star.
Caryl, here. When I was married to my second husband in the 70's, we took piano lessons from the same teacher as Robert Goulet's son. I'm sure Mr. Goulet's son did a whole lot better than us! We had fun though. We were really into John Denver so the teacher transposed John's music into the key of "C" and that's how we learned to play the piano.
I'm a woman and I've got a range of a second soprano(? Choir instructor thinks that, I'm definitely not sure) to around 2nd tenor and I love this song so much but my deepest note is about half octave to an octave lower than what seems to be his more comfortable note range (the notes in "How could it be in spring time?"). I want to sing this so bad but lord the talent needed to perform this is insanity.
I interviewed him for local TV for a show he was doing and he couldn't have been nicer! He died so young! (November 26, 1933 - October 30, 2007) Wikipedia: On September 30, 2007, Goulet was hospitalized in Las Vegas, where he was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a rare but rapidly progressive and potentially fatal condition. On October 13, 2007, he was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after it was determined he would not survive without an emergency lung transplant. While awaiting a lung transplant, Goulet died from pulmonary fibrosis on the evening of October 30, 2007, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at the age of 73. Theater marquees in New York and in cities across North America were dimmed in his memory on October 31, 2007. On November 9, 2007, the day of his funeral, Las Vegas honored Goulet by closing the Las Vegas Strip for his funeral procession. Several venues also posted his name on their marquees as a final tribute.
...just look at Julie; she has such adoration for this man; she remembers their performances from the past; if there wasn't a Blake Edwards, would there have been a Robert Goulet in her life? I would certainly think so.

and I believe he sobered up after he met vera goulet. I believe there were insurmountable problems with carol Lawrence that contributed to his drinking so much...I know he drank a lot...I just didn't want to say it on a site run by vera goulet, who he loved so much and who was so perfect for him and his piece of mind.
I read Carol Lawrence's book. She chronociled the problems with alcohol and didn't know whether or not Vera was able to straighten him out. But truly hoped that she was able too. I still remember when he went on the Tonight Show dead drunk and couldn't remember the words to the song he was to supposed to perform. The next night, when he sobered up he came back and sang the way he was supposed to. He was still one of the greatest singer/entertainers that ever lived.
IM VERY SHY BUT I SUNG THIS SONG FOR A SMALL GROUP OF PEOPLE THEY SAID HOW DO YOU DO THAT SO GOOD I SAID HES MY IDOL IVE BEEN LISTENING TO HIM FOR 50 YEARS BUT HE MAKES IT LOOK EASY
He still had it....A way to make you melt.
My favorite song that Robert sings…and to his dear friendJulie makes it so incredibly lovely❣️I still miss this man and his music. ❤12/2023
This was my childhood in the 60:'s! Mom had the Broadway soundtrack from Camelot & My Fair Lady & Dame Julie was my hero!❤
Mine too!! Such incredible memories...❤
Wow!!! Mine too😂❤
You can feel the palpable love from her to him and from the audience. Magic, pure and simple! No special effects, just raw emotion and talent.
That voice, wonderful. This is a difficult song to sing but he owns it.
This made me cry. It's so beautiful. It's wonderful to me that he sounds exactly like he did on the original recording and that they made this arrangement lean in more to the upbeats, samba-like. What a breath-taking performance.
His voice never changed
Gorgeous man, gorgeous voice. I could listen to this over and over and over again. He once winked at me from backstage when he was on The Ed Sullivan Show and I was in the audience. That was over 55 years ago
The two of them in Camelot in the prime of their youth. That had to be something to see live in person back then.
Julie’s face was sheer adoration watching and listening to Robert Goulet! Class!
One of, if not, the most beautiful song ever written.
This is an example of what true CLASS looks like, don't see much of it today. Both great super-talented stars.
you are so right.
There will never be another voice in my life time like his.
I love this romantic old ballad, and he sings it better than anyone.
So special. She played Gweniviere and he played Lancelot. Sure wish I saw that play. Richard Burton played King Arthur. Must of been incredible.

God, i wish they wrote music like this still

I loved his voice. Loved the movie Camelot 😊
He's amazing, but this is also one of the greatest pieces of Broadway music and lyrics ever composed.
yes..its true these entertainers are missed...and yes they were far better than what is around these days
He owned this song. No future Sir Lancelot's that I've heard could come close to Goulet's rendition.
I love this. JA is beautiful and he's great
i bought the album camelot in the 60's and played it over and over i can still sing everysong

So loved this fondest memory is …. My father singing this in the 1960,s before Sunday dinner
He had a BIG voice!
what a lovely song sung by a lovely man
Robert Goulet clearly adored Julie! Can't blame him tho!
There is no longer talent or class like the one found in Mr. Goulet's and Ms. Andrew's generation.
amen. find me the one today who could sing like this live...
crickets...

Robert Goulet was amazing
Pure magic watching them together. My Mom loved watching him. We saw Camelot three times! He left us much too early.
What a wonderful performance..
My husband recited these lyrics to me shortly after our wedding. The have always bee romantic but the were especially so, then

Amazing song we need more songs like this
Love all music this singer and the song is GREAT!!!!!
Just breathtaking
he had that magic 'til the very end.
I yearn for those days. And I was born in 1968. 😢
This is nothing but a class act in love
Oy, this Vegas orchestration! Horrors!
Nick Mayor Yeah, you're right. It was a little overdone, wasn't it.

When we were young we thought this great music would last forever. Then the great composers went away.
I love how Julie looks at him.
some one should sing this on the Voice. It'd be epic!
Great suggestion!
The vocalist would need a strong baritone voice like Robert's to pull it off. I agree it's a great song choice.

Wonderful. The only actor/performer Andrews starred with that could actually sing.
So classic ‘

MARAVILLOSA COMO SIEMPRE EL UN ROMANTICO
Still had it!
Doesn’t have the same oomph as when he was younger, but who of us do? Song still belongs to him.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏽
A perfect ending to use should they make a bio pic about Robert Goulet.
a very nice man, drank a little, but always respectful to people in general....
+rveeing Correction - he drank a lot. He was an alcoholic. His drinking is what destroyed his marriage to Carol Lawrence.

Some men want muscles some a sharp wit....
I'd KILL for a voice like that!
What class. What talent. What a voice! Not the trash we hear today like Crappy B and her ilk.
I like this version more than that of the film.
