Author Richard Ford on writing about important and mysterious things

Richard Ford, award-winning author of the Frank Bascombe novels, talks to Minnesota Public Radio's Kerri Miller about writing about the most important things he knows Monday, Dec. 1, 2014 at the Fitzgerald Theater in downtown St. Paul, Minn. Richard Ford has the most amazing ability to take very serious risks -- both with his plots and his characters -- and still make the whole package credible. I always find myself saying, "If this happened at all, it had to happen in exactly this way."
