    What makes me broken even more is in the end, the grandma and the fox don't even get to be together anymore. And even the fox and the hound can't be good friends like before. Why though, it's too sad like it's true that the goodbye's forever. Damn it!

    I went to the theater and saw this when I was in first grade. My grandmother was visiting and took me to see it the night before she was driving back. The next day at school I began crying so hard thinking about the sad scenes, especially the one you showed, that my teachers became concerned. I was inconsolable so they asked me what was wrong. I knew my parents wouldn’t be happy that I became so emotional and disrupted my school work over a movie so I told a half truth (a lie) and said that I was sad my grandmother was leaving and I would not get to say good bye. When my memaw heard about this she came by my school on her way back to Little Rock and hugged me and told me how much she loved me. That seemed to do the trick because I quit crying and made it through the day. One of the few vivid memories I have from early childhood. Sorry so long but I had to share my Fox and The Hound story. No one but but my wife and whoever reads this Knows this story lol!!

    Yep, can't watch this scene without weeping, either. I don't know anything about the production of this film. What exactly made the production of this film so rough for all involved? Was it mostly because of the decline in Disney's animated films during the '60s and '70s?

    • @sashizakura9124
      @sashizakura9124 3 года назад +3

      @@DHM91 I know this is an ancient comment, but if you haven't already, check out the documentary Waking Sleeping Beauty. That'll give you an idea of that kinds of turmoil big creative studios can go through. Disney was on a rough road during those years. A lot of changes had to be made before the renaissance could be sparked. The livelihoods of many artists, writers, musicians and all the technical behind the scenes creative people were on the line, and things didn't work out well for a fair few of them. Even the above mentioned Richard Rich moved on, and was fortunately able to form his own animation studio.

    Foxes have the personality of the energizer bunny when they grow up. They knock things over for fun and chew everything in sight. If you leave them alone for a few minutes, your house will look like a tornado came through. No matter how sweet and affectionate they are when raised with people, no matter how many tricks you teach them, a fox is still a fox. So regardless of the cranky neighbor, Mrs. Tweed did the right thing.

    • @ToABrighterFuture
      @ToABrighterFuture 4 года назад +4

      Because, let's be blunt, this is one of the most emotionally manipulative animated sequences ever put to celluloid.
      That's not meant as a complaint, by the way: it's just a recognition of what's involved here.
      You have themes of abandonment in nature, abandonment by a mother figure, loss of a pet, and, subtextually, of imminent death; and that's just for starters.
      Now add in the overly sad music (including that harmonica), and lyrics that talk about "goodbye" and "forever" (which make the theme of death a little more explicit), and you've got a sequence that pushes every emotional big red button on the board.
      That it induces tears, isn't the hard part, believe it or not. The ticklish part of putting together an extremely sad sequence like this, is keeping it from going so far over the top with the sappiness, that it ends up as full-fledged Narm (look that up on TV Tropes, if you don't know what that is.)
      Really, this sequence is so well constructed, that it could be used by mental health types to aid in clinical diagnosis. It's just that efficient with its emotional manipulation.

    Every time I watched this scene I cried. It's just like the way of Disney to tug at your heart strings and just hope this kind of stuff "doesn't happen" but it does. But you know eventually there will be a happy ending.

    I’m here after saying goodbye to my buddy about 2 months ago. I’ve been thinking about this scene a lot, and it makes me tear up every time. My sister has a dog that isn’t doing so well. She made me a very nice memorial plaque after my buddy died, it’s a photo of him with the paw prints on my heart poem next to it. After her buddy goes I think I’m going to make her one with the ending quote of this scene “goodbye may seem forever, farewell is like the end, but in my heart’s a memory and there you’ll always be.”
    Update: Her little buddy will be going to the rainbow bridge tonight. He’s had a long happy life but is in the final stages of kidney failure and has been declining rapidly the last few days, she wants to spare him any further pain. I’m working on the memorial photo for her and it’s hard not to tear up when I see the ending of the song on a print I made for her.

    When this part came i knew what was coming and fought back the tears as hard as possible but they came and we were both crying and she was like damn that's the saddest thing ever passing me a tissue after taking one herself lmao!!!

This is the one scene in the world that makes everybody and anybody cry on cue no matter what!

This is one of my favorite Disney movies and every time my little brother wanted to watch it, i would dred this scene so much. So heartbreaking 💔. This is definitely the saddest Disney scene for me.

    This scene always makes me cry as it makes me think of this cat I had, I watched him grow from 6 weeks to only a year old before he disappeared one day... I did learn what happened to him, he didn't get killed or anything, thankfully. He got lost one day and a woman found him on the side of the road and felt sorry for him and picked him up. He's currently in a very loving home now but I'll get never him back now nor will I see him again...

    This scene is so powerful and so good. This movie is underrated as hell. This is in my opinion a better version of bambi due to the emotional depth of its characters. I felt this is better bambi mum death even that was still sad. Disney films used to appeal to adults and kids but now it's all kiddie rubbish.

    I never cried to a movie before. But after seeing this scene again after about 7 later 2009-2016 (not 2020) i saw it in 2016 again and holy f*ck did it mess me up. Idk why i just started bursting in tears. Probably because i had a traumatic fear of my grandma feeling sad which made me sad (dont laugh) and the old lady reminded me of it. But the pans and the way the fox just stares when she leaves. Idk it just triggered me really intensely.
