Yeah, really they were the oldest rock band that was still around after 13 years, consistently huge - 5 years after the Beatles breakup. 30 was the cutoff point at which rockstardom might be seen as embarrassing! (A la Elvis) They did continue to make great work and do great shows after Some Girls. Maybe not as many seamless albums but except maybe Steel Wheels (which does have Slipping Away) they all have some Great songs and performances, and show real evolution!

Yeah 75 , I saw them at Earl’s Court in 1975. With the lotus flower stage opening up and jagger descending onto the stage from the roof . Fucking great. At the end of the concert when the crowds poured out of the venue the traffic was stationary and the tube station was on the other side of the road ! Solid traffic divided us ! At this moment the stones let go with an enormous fireworks display off the roof of Earl’s Court stadium and the crowd outside just started climbing onto the cars and we went across all the roofs of the cars to get to the station which they were just about to close. Pandemonium ensued ! A great memory ! Long live the stones !
