Geez even in 1975 they are already questioning about age and that at age 30 it would be tiring to tour. Since then 2018, the journalists are dead and the stones stilll prancing
They were following the well furrowed path of their blues heroes and forebears, many of whom continued to perform and tour into their eighties. A fantastic symbiosis of creative genius. The '60s and '70s to this day remain musically unmatched.
sabiniano maia : You can't argue that fact, The Beatles were for a brief moment in time "good" there later music before the break up , to me the best, The White Album/Abbey Road music, the early stuff I never really liked because it was too bubblegum for me, Now that's out of the way, let's talk about Mick & The Boys, you can't survive over 50 years of what they have accomplished without being totally dedicated to your MUSIC the FANS and loving what you do, even when times got tough, I mean look what they have been through over the years, Brian Jones, here's a guy that had so much talent ( and really was a huge part of the band starting) gets kicked out of the Bad Boys of Rock n Roll at the height of the 60's drug culture, for using too much & not being able to function as a musician, that's pretty sad, then his death, which 90% of bands , (even in todays world ) break up, The Altamont incident, Keith's early on Bogus drug busts for media negativity ( not that he was 100% Innocent) Exiled from your own country basically because your management ripped you off & didn't do their jobs properly, Having Mick Taylor quit 😢, Then Keith's real drug problems, and blah blah fucking blah, But did they "Beatle Out & Split up" , Nope, they endured it all by creating some of the best Rock n Roll songs ever !!!!!! Letting those life lessons become songs , We could go on & on with there ups & downs, But the fact is this, when they walked out on that Philadelphia Stage in June of 2013 to celebrate there "50 years" of music & playing together, There was no doubt in my mind, I was watching the GREATEST ROCK & ROLL BAND EVER 👅!!!!!!!!
Yeah, until this tour, they're doing a little bit if it again, nice to see, although the main reason that they stopped was because keith's voice has gotten so ragged
The first tour without Mick Taylor - nobody seemed to even ask what happened to him or remembered him ....until they released Emotional Rescue - then suddenly everyone realised what the Stones had lost
Ah, but they gained so much more! And there's no speculation on why he left, he has spoken publicly many times on the subject. Bottom line, his heart just wasn't into it anymore, but he does regret it. He pretty much has to play small gigs now as often as possible just to pay his bills and ronnie has hired him on a number of occasions to play in some of his side bands
Funny thing, i am not going to go into detail here and be a snitch, but keith had safe? high-quality heroin supplied to him on this 1975 tour by a very major corporation that was financially underwriting the tour along with some high level u.s. govt protection to make sure that keith did not o.d. on bad drugs or get busted and blow the company's investment. TRUE STORY!
Not to drag Ron Wood - cause I have always loved him - but when he replaced the great Mick Taylor in '74 - '75 - there was good reason to question if the Stones were still 'the greatest' R&R band. Yes, they were still great - but when you lose a lead guitarist like Mick Taylor - you've lost a lot.
Weird thing" even though Taylor is clearly the "technically" best guitar player that they ever had and he played on all my favorite stones albums, the stones are WAY better live with ronnie than with taylor, ronnie's playing blends in way better with keith and both his image and his energy fit's the stones way better. Also over the last decade, taylor has sat in numerous times with the stones and has done a ton of shows with ronnie and he just pales in comparison. He still puts out some great solo records in terms of his playing though even today
I am a latecomer to the Stones compared to many fans, 80s forward but like all of the material. When I hear Mick play on videos I hear a technical, conventional lead guitarist that often didn't blend well with the groove or played over Jagger's vocals. Ronnie is underrated imo how he makes the music sound great live, but very different guitarists. Maybe I'll find the video that showcases Mick's importance to the Stones but the guitar solos don't do it for me so far.
john a. No, I just remember him from WABC NY7 & then I even liked his talk show & watched him every night on CNBC during OJ. But after her did Celeb Apprentice, ugh 🤢

_From Drag Queen to Macho Mystery Man_ sounds like a good title for a Mick Jagger biography ngl
I would never describe Jagger as being “macho”. Have you seen him jump around and shake his skinny ass on stage?!
Stones, the marking-time years (though I was born the night they played D.C. on this tour).
Well happy birthday then. Whenever that is. All these years later you are old just as I am! Damn it!

Luckily they kept going even though RUclips pundits wanna tell us how it is in a rock and roll band that spans nigh unto 60 years
