@@user-rk1ch4ij7u I don't really think its something I can explain in a video. It comes with experience as you learn more songs and recognize similar riff patterns. I also think I have a decent ear for determining relative pitch but that also just comes with playing and listening to music.
Kinda late to the party here by like 7 years but your bass sound is dead on. I remember way back when, everyone was buying 3 tone sunburst jazz basses because of K-on. I know, I did exactly the same. Later on, listening to a bunch of the instrumental tracks and isolated bass stems, I was convinced that most of them had been recorded with a Precision, a pick, super hard attack, and probably an Ampeg or something. The sound of the P bass was unmistakeable. I felt so cheated!
I looked into the guy that did a lot of the bass parts for the k-on music. For the live concerts, he used a Walter Woods head running through an ampeg 8x10 cab. Nowadays, you can achieve similar results with a good overdrive pedal like a darkglass. Im sure most DAW's have a plugin as well. You still have to slam the hell out of the strings though.
@@no_peaches_8085 iirc his name is Toshino Tanabe - 田辺トシノ He's done a lot of work in anime music and was the live bass player for both live K-On concerts.
@@vectron12 thanks man! One more question though, would you be able to tell me if that slap section on gogo maniac was done on a p bass or a j bass, I'm pretty sure it's still a p but I'm not too sure, thanks again!
Im playing my guitar with your bass and it sounded awsome together ( yo thanks for letting me use this when i asked i cant believe this was a year ago im more better than before and i have a electric guitar, accoustic, ukelele and a piano I really want to buy a trumpet.
I love P bass! I wanna get one so bad. I preferable want the Ibanez roadstar ii or the Austin P bass. I have an Ibanez SR 300 XL rn I love it but it can't match the punch of the P bass.
superb! furthermore to creating music to the internet, have you play as well in bars by any chance? b.t.w.; I routinely can record drums and play on video cooperations with bandhub, we have to double up in band-hub?
It's called a sunburst finish... it's a pretty common paint scheme. You can get most fenders in such a finish. Even though gibson is the inventor of it.
which strings are you using ? I'm wondering because i have a 1987 fender jazz bass special with d'addario 170EXL strings, and i'm curious if it would be possible to get the same tone from my bass if i switched my strings. I know that Mio uses d'addario 160exl strings on elizabeth ("elizabesu") (her bass)in the anime.
iirc I was using a set of D'Addario EXL170BT. I still use them on this bass. For a lot of the K-On music (including this song), a P-bass was used to despite Mio playing a 1962 reissue Jazz Bass in the anime. You can get a similar tone with your bass by just using the neck pickup, a pick, some distortion, and attacking the hell out of your strings. The strings you have are fine since they're pretty much the same as mine. Any set of round wound strings would suffice.
For anyone wondering I don't use tabs I learned this song entirely by ear
you're amazing
You're Awesome
You still are awesome!
please make a video on how you learn songs by ear

Guess I'm saving up for a bass now
A sound investment
Me too
Did you do it?

just saying, you won't regret it (yes, I understand that this was a year ago but still)
the bass makes that tune what it is. Sugoi

@@no_peaches_8085 I don't think there is a slap section in gogo maniac. Theres one in cagayake girls which would be a jazz bass.

What kind of Bass do you have,,, All I can see is that it's a Fender
its a classic 70's fender precision bass
Do you use any preamp o effect?
Sorry if I'm asking: what amp are you using?
Paolo D'Alì im plugged into my pc using guitar rig
i wouldn't really recommend it on bass its kind of a pain in the ass
how much that fender
+Zack Fair £200-300 ($400)
WUT that was cheap
+Zack Fair it was around $600 CDN
but still i thought fender was around 1000$
american made ones generally are
mexican and japanese made fender products are generally cheaper. Mine is Japanese made
How's life man?
Oof i guess Basses sounds good like this! (Actually i haven't heard of the Bass guitar sound cause' i barely hear it in K-on songs ;^;)
SIR OR MISTER, I WANNA FEEL YOUR FINGER! CAN I!?
What's the tune of your bass? Does it work with the standard tune?
Sounds like regular tuning.
