A good way of getting the bolts back in the right place regarding the water pump or most casings for that matter is put the bolts into where you think they may go. They will usually all stand out the same distance from fully screwed in.
Ford wanted to charge me £570 for a service on my 2020 Ford Focus 2L ecoblue! On checking what was involved, it amounted to an oil filter and oil change, an air filter change but not cabin filter! And the rest amounted to a lot “looking” at things! Suffice to say I did the job myself!

When i worked at my mates garage at 17 a full service was ... all the normal filters and fluid checks . Complete brake check and record any recomendation . Light check . Under car check ( any damp spots, exhaust leeks suspension look over ) all hinges and latches lithium greased . Plus few small bits and pieces ( screen wash fill . Wiperblade check and washer jets check ) and a small report with any recomendation or issues that need keeping an eye on or advised work for now or near future and that was it . That was the standard service. Now im mobile myself . I do battery load test and brake fluid moisture test . But if they asked for just oil and filters and no more i do what is asked .
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic yeh . I try and treat it like a pre sale inspection . Alot of the jobs dont take alot of time but adds alot of detail to the service . Most are rear discs now not not as much rear drum removal as it was 15 years ago lol .

Im a mobile mech in shropshire . Tractors cars 4x4s diggers quads . Im try to aim for £30 an hour . No call out fee no after hours rate and no travel time and by time you take out all the down time travelling and that exspenses , its a struggle . Any advise would be great ( good or bad)
Halfords told my son, he was over qualified. Because he had just lest College and university doing car mechanics. Wouldn’t trust one of the so-called mechanics to touch my car.
One of my neighbours he was in is 70’s , he used do 2-3k miles year in his Vectra ….have an oil change every 6 or 12 months ….i told him you are wasting money ….he wouldn’t have any of it
I looked at the service schedule for my L200, i reckon it got engine oil changes at best, the rest of the fluids, not a chance. It cost me £200ish in materials ,but everything got done.
I worked in a Mot station over 20 years ago and on a full service it got everything including checking and topping up gearbox oil, greasing door catches wheels off cleaning and adjusting brakes, now a full service means to most a oil and filter change it's a joke. I owned a Mercedes sprinter when it got to 2 years old it had 7950 miles on it and i sent it Mercedes for service. also it had a problem with side loading door, The van is fitted with a tracker and it went from there car park into garage at 12.35pm and at 1.20pm it was put back in car park done and finished, They rang me and said it was finished and ready for collection, i asked have you done the side door and the guy said yes we sprayed it with special stuff and cleaned the electrical terminals up too. i kid you now i even bought a new Mercedes E class £49k and at a year old 3500 miles it went for service and i'd say they spent more time making & sending me a video of the car on the ramp than they did servicing it, that car was in there garage for around 45 minutes and i'm not sure they even changed oil & filter on that and it was over £300

I hate diesels lol. I started of with a coolant loss so me being me replaced everything coolant related from radiator, tank, thermostat, then basically every gasket from headgasket, rocker cover gasket if i took it off and it had a gasket it got replaced. By time i had finished i was impressed with myself until i got to the part where smoke was coming from the dipstick and the oil filler cap then i went to go hang myself because i got told it is probably the piston rings and after spending nearly £1000 on the engine it just wiped me out completely.
Why anybody goes to halfrauds is a complete mystery needed some brake shims for a juke bank holiday Monday no where open except them went in a spotty 18 year old serving inquired about said shims only to try and be sold some pads for a push bike shook my head and walked out got em off eBay after a local parts supplier let me down
Doggy practice I've had this happen to me working in a well known garage they did the same thing to a lovely old lady who had memorie problems she had a full service done one month and the next month the same thing I went to the service manager and questioned him about what they were doing to the old lady ripping her off he wasn't happy ide questioned there doggy practices I was basically out the door within a month there was other poo going on like selling non OEM parts as genuine ect
Halfords are a expensive and there mechanics (so called) are young cheaply paid and haven't got a clue what they are doing wouldn't trust them doing anything

It is interesting you worked on British and European vehicles these keep you busy why aren't they any good apart from a couple of services and a belt replacement the rest are repairs that are common and these are newer cars from Europe and the UK l owned a 2005 Ford Fiesta and bought it brand new and it was the absolute biggest pile of crap l brought infact l bought a 1997 Toyota Hilux 5 years ago for aud $1500 and is so much better than the Ford Fiesta and that cost us aud $15000 ten times what l paid for my Hilux but was it ten times better than my Hilux no the Hilux is 100 times better than the Ford Fiesta
Sorry, my bad, the drive belt car, the inside of the O/S/F tyre looks like it has cords exposed, but on closer inspection, there's cv grease on the inside of the wheel which I thought was the inner side wall, and then the rim of the wheel is the bit I thought was the cords on show. I've had too much sun today I think 😂
You should address yer filming, brother. Some, you cut short, we don't even see how you remedied it. All we see is you sitting on yer wheel and declare that yer finished it already. Lots of skipping.
