  • The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works carried out a cleanup operation of homeless encampments at the Venice Beach restrooms on Friday, May 19, 2023. Sanitation workers were donned in white hazardous materials suits as part of the safety protocol for the cleanup. LAHSA (Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority) was on site and provided homeless outreach during the cleanup operation.
In order to effectively coordinate the various departments involved in the cleanup operation of the homeless encampments, Los Angeles Councilwoman Traci Park's (11th District) Office has enlisted the assistance of a dedicated Homelessness and Housing Coordinator.
The operation was prompted by significant health and safety concerns for both the unhoused and the general public, as many of the unhoused individuals had been using the restrooms as living quarters.
To ensure the safety of all involved, Los Angeles Park Rangers were present at the site throughout the cleanup operation. This weekly cleanup activity takes place every Friday in Venice and is intended to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the area.
The City of Los Angeles has been actively addressing the issue of homelessness in the area, and the Venice Beach clean-up is just one part of their ongoing efforts. The clean-up not only helps to improve public health and safety but also helps to restore the restrooms to their intended use.
It is important to note that these clean-ups are not a solution to the larger issue of homelessness. The City of Los Angeles continues to work on implementing long-term solutions to address the root causes of homelessness and provide resources to those in need.
Overall, the clean-up of homeless encampments at Venice Beach is an important step in improving public health and safety, and providing much-needed resources and support to the unhoused individuals in the area. The City of Los Angeles remains committed to addressing the issue of homelessness in the area, and will continue to work towards long-term solutions.

They should just be doing this everyday so that know they should go to the shelter since the beach does need to be open to the public not just the homeless. It’s just a bad habit that they have. They should enforce it period. You can’t allow them to get comfortable or their not gonna do their homework!

The Nanny State Solution to Management in action. Personally, although I am baised, I like the old system of preventing people from making asses out of themselves in the first place by consistent and intelligent law enforcement combined with codes against using the beach park as your flop house. Most of those people are addicted to narcotics and are slowly rotting. Being kind to them and allowing them to rot in a public park is not a kindness. Tough Love. People will not stop being addicts when their co-dependant enabler is the local government.

The problem is not the homeless America is actually under attack by China and Mexico . China is producing the Toxic Fentanyl hoping more Americans consume it and die. It's like another form of warfare... The drug is cut in every single drug imaginable which is sold to the cartels and trafficked thru American borders thru street gangs and Cartels and it is highly powerful and dangerous most of these drug addicts don't even know the ingredients in their drug so once they consume it they are either dead or even more addicted and mentally deteriorating it's a never ending cycle that China knows and has figured out so they don't care how much Americans die they will continue to manufacture the Fentanyl Poison in hopes it entraps more Americans Addicts making our country weaker ... We need to attack the drug source and dealers with all we have and get the Poisinous product off the street and hold China Accountable and intercept their Fentanyl labs. Even non users are at risk of fentanyl exposure once micro salt can cause death or over dose.

They tried that approach in the 1800's after the Civil War and it was a problem with poor houses and such, so the federal government had mental institutions that we're heavily funded, that was all taken away with Ronald Reagan in the 80s. the goddamn solution to tough love is universal healthcare like every other industrial country on the Earth.. but that won't happen

That’s what happened I truly believe. I saw someone say something about mental asylums the other day, & how they’ve all but closed down. It’s so true. Out of so many RUclips channels I’ve watched that go exploring inside of them (mostly closed in the late 90’s..I’m not sure)🤔 always talk about each area, & what it was used for etc. Some have gyms, art rooms, big cafeterias, therapeutic rooms, etc. I know there was negative things done that the public viewed as perhaps sinister when it came to some ⚡️ shock & other methods. But those reasons alone didn’t have to shut all places down. So many of these people are not on meds they need to be on. Whilst others are on meds, but doing other things to make it worse. Like drinking alcohol and or taking/doing uppers which makes their mind feel even more insane. It’s endless the issues. Take care.

Do these people need jobs and homes?
Or, do they require medicine, therapy/rehab, and very heavily managed integration back into proper society? I think all the above, but it has to be the correct order.
Proper society means learning to coexist, and respectfully live amongst others and abide by laws, even if you supposedly think you're above laws. Other people have rights to utilize society, as well, without being encroached upon.
I'm sure children, handicapped, elderly, and even other homeless needed to use restrooms, and had to face this selfish abominable situation. 🤬
