- The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works carried out a cleanup operation of homeless encampments at the Venice Beach restrooms on Friday, May 19, 2023. Sanitation workers were donned in white hazardous materials suits as part of the safety protocol for the cleanup. LAHSA (Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority) was on site and provided homeless outreach during the cleanup operation.
In order to effectively coordinate the various departments involved in the cleanup operation of the homeless encampments, Los Angeles Councilwoman Traci Park's (11th District) Office has enlisted the assistance of a dedicated Homelessness and Housing Coordinator.
The operation was prompted by significant health and safety concerns for both the unhoused and the general public, as many of the unhoused individuals had been using the restrooms as living quarters.
To ensure the safety of all involved, Los Angeles Park Rangers were present at the site throughout the cleanup operation. This weekly cleanup activity takes place every Friday in Venice and is intended to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the area.
The City of Los Angeles has been actively addressing the issue of homelessness in the area, and the Venice Beach clean-up is just one part of their ongoing efforts. The clean-up not only helps to improve public health and safety but also helps to restore the restrooms to their intended use.
It is important to note that these clean-ups are not a solution to the larger issue of homelessness. The City of Los Angeles continues to work on implementing long-term solutions to address the root causes of homelessness and provide resources to those in need.
Overall, the clean-up of homeless encampments at Venice Beach is an important step in improving public health and safety, and providing much-needed resources and support to the unhoused individuals in the area. The City of Los Angeles remains committed to addressing the issue of homelessness in the area, and will continue to work towards long-term solutions.

Many have been offered housing, but they don’t like the rules that come with the housing.
They want to be able to do their drugs and steal.
Naaah, they pretend to offer housing so they can throw their stuff in the garbage truck.
So truth. I used to ask many of them if they wanted housing, and they all said no. Because they do not want "anyone telling them what to do..."
They should just be doing this everyday so that know they should go to the shelter since the beach does need to be open to the public not just the homeless. It’s just a bad habit that they have. They should enforce it period. You can’t allow them to get comfortable or their not gonna do their homework!
@@honestytoafaulttotally agree with you because, for experience, I know why they decline service. Can't get high or whatever at a shelter.
Make hospitals and rehabilitation mandatory ... this is inhuman and disgusting... and I'm just sick of it
U pay for it
@@mustlovedogs5569 bs.
Before Reagan signed the TREAT EM AND STREET EM into law.... people with mental health issues were placed in mental institutions as They were a threat to society. I'd rather pay for it than pay for illegals to live here for free.
@Must Love Dogs I already do it's called welfare 😒
And in the process they are the ones that are labeled as repeat offenders in breaking laws but are let go back into society. And those that are shoplifting is causing stores like Walmart and others to close their stores. So in the long run it more costly to continue this nonsense.
It’s bad city planning also I believe the board of medicine use to be apart of retrieving individuals that would be to harm the public.
. I personally like Scotland’s and the Netherlands approach to mental health . I wish we could implement some form of that system here.
The Nanny State Solution to Management in action. Personally, although I am baised, I like the old system of preventing people from making asses out of themselves in the first place by consistent and intelligent law enforcement combined with codes against using the beach park as your flop house. Most of those people are addicted to narcotics and are slowly rotting. Being kind to them and allowing them to rot in a public park is not a kindness. Tough Love. People will not stop being addicts when their co-dependant enabler is the local government.
The problem is not the homeless America is actually under attack by China and Mexico . China is producing the Toxic Fentanyl hoping more Americans consume it and die. It's like another form of warfare... The drug is cut in every single drug imaginable which is sold to the cartels and trafficked thru American borders thru street gangs and Cartels and it is highly powerful and dangerous most of these drug addicts don't even know the ingredients in their drug so once they consume it they are either dead or even more addicted and mentally deteriorating it's a never ending cycle that China knows and has figured out so they don't care how much Americans die they will continue to manufacture the Fentanyl Poison in hopes it entraps more Americans Addicts making our country weaker ... We need to attack the drug source and dealers with all we have and get the Poisinous product off the street and hold China Accountable and intercept their Fentanyl labs. Even non users are at risk of fentanyl exposure once micro salt can cause death or over dose.
They tried that approach in the 1800's after the Civil War and it was a problem with poor houses and such, so the federal government had mental institutions that we're heavily funded, that was all taken away with Ronald Reagan in the 80s. the goddamn solution to tough love is universal healthcare like every other industrial country on the Earth.. but that won't happen
These are Public facilities paid for by the Tax Payer for the public and families with children to use, no Mother would feel safe taking a child to use the toilet there. Children need to feel safe.
If your that angry you could start a class action against the county. I’m from DC and we had this issue hard ! Sue your government!
It’s great that they’re cleaning up the bathrooms but they need to put those people in mental institutions because they either come right back to the restrooms OR they go shuffle out into society ANGRY that they had to move and take it out on the people in the community. PUT THEM IN HOSPITALS WHERE THEY BELONG and can be tended to by professionals who are educated in these matters and know what d to do with them.
That’s what happened I truly believe. I saw someone say something about mental asylums the other day, & how they’ve all but closed down. It’s so true. Out of so many RUclips channels I’ve watched that go exploring inside of them (mostly closed in the late 90’s..I’m not sure)🤔 always talk about each area, & what it was used for etc. Some have gyms, art rooms, big cafeterias, therapeutic rooms, etc. I know there was negative things done that the public viewed as perhaps sinister when it came to some ⚡️ shock & other methods. But those reasons alone didn’t have to shut all places down. So many of these people are not on meds they need to be on. Whilst others are on meds, but doing other things to make it worse. Like drinking alcohol and or taking/doing uppers which makes their mind feel even more insane. It’s endless the issues. Take care.
We MUST reopen Mental Institutions ASAP.......This insanity has gone waaaaay to long.
You should start to get that organized.
@@beckystarrski ppl
These people need to be institutionalized. They are so far gone. It is so sad to listen to them. They don’t even know what they’re saying to each other other than responding randomly to every eighth word the other one says.
What's the point, all they do is move their trash from one place to another few feet away. That doesn't solve the problem. They should not be allowed to use shopping carts from the stores..
They aren’t allowed lol they STEAL them . Most stores have those anti theft locks on the wheels now bless your soul if you parked slightly out of the reach of the signal 😂 had to carry a cases of water like a jackass
Ask the Lady Mayor to take her children for a day out on that beach ????..
Once was a nice place..... Needles on the beach, bathrooms are gross!!!!! it smells
Why do they let them stay in the bathrooms?
Hello Santa Monica City Council???
They pay someone to routinely check the bathrooms. How much do you think this is costing them? Put Cameras and the right kind of
doors
They the city and park services can even seal up the doors for a time
There definitely on another planet
Do these people need jobs and homes?
Or, do they require medicine, therapy/rehab, and very heavily managed integration back into proper society? I think all the above, but it has to be the correct order.
Proper society means learning to coexist, and respectfully live amongst others and abide by laws, even if you supposedly think you're above laws. Other people have rights to utilize society, as well, without being encroached upon.
I'm sure children, handicapped, elderly, and even other homeless needed to use restrooms, and had to face this selfish abominable situation. 🤬
Who’s 🤢 gonna use them after this. At this point. I wouldn’t let a Sane individual use these anymore. They were restrooms. Now they’re gates to hell.
@@Katsnacks I was visiting downtown Seattle, WA last week. I believe they power wash and after power spray nice smelling sanitizing foam. I hope LA does the same. That would be gross if they didn't🤢
I couldn't agree more. Some ppl are so quick to say they are lazy. Yes, that might be true too. However, they need mental help first and foremost. They could get a job tomorrow and could loose their mind over something so small and endanger innocent ppl/co-workers. Then, ppl would be asking why did they let him work if he was so unstable?
Public Restrooms
-OR-are they
‘Homeless Encampments’?
Too many homeless encampments not only in Cali., but everywhere. It will be here forever so get ready and continue cleaning after them. I know some of them don't want to be responsible in having a job, paying taxes, paying rent, mortgage, utilities, car insurance, going to work everyday. etc. I feel they love the "Life of Riley" and just lounge around.
I have not heard that "Life of Riley" in a loooooong time!😊
Those metal toilet doors need to be made 2 feet shorter, (not set against the ground like a private bedroom door) and no locks on the outside (an inside latch only when in use) as they are for 'public' use not private units! (They should be hosed down every night at 11 o'clock like clockwork, by city staff, as a deterrent to anyone moving in to that space.)
Automatic plumbed-in washdown disinfectant nozzles activated at a designated time, like, oh, say, around 4AM, kinda like the "showers" in Germany.
Where does all this collected filth go? Is it burned or what?
Soylent Green.
I wonder if eventually the bathrooms could be demolished? No one else but the homeless are using them, and not even for their intended purpose. Or perhaps a remodel with smaller doors, and other un-inhabitable designs?
Awesome job cleaning up the beaches. The homeless have destroyed the beaches by camping and with trash and garbage everywhere. This makes it so disgusting that No one wants to go to the beach to enjoy. How can a family go to the beach and enjoy. Seeing homeless people camping all over the beaches.
This is my favorite show
It would be interesting to have someone document the movement of each of the evictees of these efficiency apartments for a week or so (or until they return here). Where and how far do they go?
Tell that to L.A. Mayor Karen Bass. We haven't heard from her since her election. Except for photo ops with Kamela Harris.
NOT TRUE
These guys make homelessness look cool
So aftwr they clean how long does the places stay clean before they have to clean the same place again and giw longdo they stay to accumulate so much stuff
I think good job all can use bathroom safety clean
Same video over and over and over. Doing the same thing over and over.
The definition of insanity.......doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results. 😮😮😮 Does anyone in charge have a real solution???
Hey now....each week we get new faces of the Venice park rangers! That's something different. Hahahahahahah
They gotta spend that tax money 🤑
@@gdc3084 Exactly. It's almost like "see, we're doing something" but it's the same thing over and over so obviously it isn't working!
For all you newbies...they get to stay for about a week in hotel potty or outside. Till the trucks come.. then they move their junk to the other side of the street and wait while their "rooms" are cleaned. Then they move right back in. Its a cycle
Exactly. In one video they were doing a street cleaning and all of them just moved around the corner and started setting up there.
I saw video where they tried to move their Stuff to a parking lot, across the street, and the police made them move from there as well , and I haven't seen videos where the same people are being moved,it's always a different group, that's what makes it a revolving door, they make people leave and then somebody else takes their place😢
And the stuff they don't take with them, gets thrown away!
The city workers should be ashamed of themselves the guy washes his hands but looks around no paper towels nowhere isn't that part of their job
That lady is a trip.
How was this video taken in 2024?
WE NEED MARTIAL LAW IN LA with FRONTIER JUSTICE. NOW.
We needed it yesterday
What does this beach looks like in the summer 😮
More importantly, what does it SMELL like in the summer.
I got the answer on how to fix this problem, but just like the movie famous line, you can’t handle the truth. Unfortunately we live in a lawsuit happy society. Where nothing can be done about it, just remember during the aid epidemic , Cuba didn’t have this problem with aids.
You should make those bathrooms so small they can’t camp out in there. Put water sprinklers to go off every so often.
👋 new to your channel, I was wondering if they have ever found a person that has past away
It has been year since they are stubbornly pursuing no enforcement policy and homeless issue is still here. The progressive law makers would never learn and never amend their absurd folly. I am pretty sure situation would be exactly the same next year.
That whole beach needs to be sifted, the restrooms need to torn down and replaced with less restrooms and shorter doors within an enclosed fence and an actual attendant 24/7.
The guy at 14:20 riding that thing is funny
SMCU Always Finds the Eccentric & Peculiar Wacky Oddballs on Venice Beach 😂😂 Good Job Fab....
I have been watching these videos for 2 years and nothing has changed, it's the same old problem.
Sunglass lady is Daisy-lite
Put these people in an old Victorian Mental Hospital for two weeks and they would soon smarten up.
“This guys kings tuts uncle “
I thought they threw out the trash last year?
Daily viewer
"Might be a computer in there" - zombie asks about the bathroom. Yeah, there's a white one with just one key. Makes a flushing sound.
That'd be a Commode-or 64...
Bro daisy is cool af, hope she gets clean or some help.
How expensive. Many of these people should not be out in public but institutionalized.
Can someone please explain to me why the homeless always have so much trash and junk that they'll never use😂😂😂😂😂
All of those abled men shpuld be drafted and fight in our wars.
If you are from Minnesota what the heck you doing in LA .
Move? Where can they go? Move? It's futile.
I would love that dude to yell at me . I would put him to sleep
Ehhhhsure..keyboard warrior
Why don’t they have door jam poles to keep the doors open when inspecting and cleaning.. such primitive methods they have. Why aren’t these facilities gated and locked and inspected at night??
F up bathrooms i feel bad for the person who has to clean them
Must be the new rookies
L.A. Mayor Karen Bass gets big wages to allow this to happen.
Her black female CEO she hired in January gets paid $430,000/year base salary. This is the result of the work we pay her to do.
Title should be Efforts to Clean Up Venice Beach Restrooms Focus on Clean Up Venice Beach Restrooms that the Homeless reside in.
Looks like they want them I'm there or they would put in saloon doors
There's definitely improvement, 10-15 years ago Venice was much worse.
7:53 dangerous unhappy man right there.
They better sweep the beach for syringes beneath the surface of the sand.
Omg this is the slowest process even at 2x speed. Those park rangers seem a little frightened.
They are constraigned by a broken nanny state system that won't allow them to actually enforce the laws to prevent the need for these cleanups in the first place. And they are right to be afraid because althogh most of these folks are harmless, some of them are not, and most of them are addicts, who can be unpredictable and act out.
That is where our 42 Billion dollars of our taxes goes.
That one lady always seems to be just walking around chewing gum or talking on phone doesn’t look like she’s working. And it’s the same people every video that are getting kicked out of bathrooms.
They should lock those doors at night. Go install some auto lock and it'll save you all the man power to remove them.
Why do they drag around so much stuff ? Is drug’s creating some of the mental issues or exacerbating ones that already existed ?
The city should harass them everyday loke they used to. They'd stop if someone was always interrupting their drug time.
They need to be forcibly medicated. And forced to work. If that old man can skate..he can work.
Take your meds, Karen...
Imagine what tourists think? They'd be thinking lets not visit the USA. What a disgusting mess.
They'd be thinking rationally.
Is living inside the restroom considered trespassing??? cops can take them into jail for a few days, let them have a hot shower and 3 free meals a day.....lol.
In the 60's, there were strict laws for this, but now it's called "woke".
this is not the America I grew up in.
Maybe you could just monitor the bathrooms better and find a solution instead of going in circles all the time.
No actual cleaning happens please stop calling it a cleanup.
How they manage the dragon all that junk. You must not run them off every day.
Alcoholic or drug addicts. No mercy. Put them in jail a few days. The go thru withdrawals and wont come back to get arrested.
Humans with zero purpose. Sad
these are real life gta npc's
How did you let the lady parrot take over your filming.
Same group of people who clearly can't care for themselves, dosnt USA have codes to lockup people like this? Same as public intoxication?
We see the drug dealers right here in front on camera… do something
thank you democrat lawmakers.
FEMA camps forced rehab forced labor
All these non profit are a scam CEO makes $ 800.000.a Year
Homeless think they rule the world.. 🤦🏽♂️ no respect.
Check out those NPCs lol
Why don't they designate a peice of land for the homeless and put them in atleast tents for temporary homes and put some organization in place?
Slab City.
It requires BALLS, something women leaders lack, and current male officials lost at birth.
this is worse then dead
If i would be the governour of California or the major of L.A i would order to tear those restrooms down to the ground. Makes no sence. Costs only money. Cat and mouse game. Stupidity without an end.
People need to use the bathrooms though!!!
bums...
wow they even have gay lifeguard huts
All those years and no help for homeless but all of the sudden they have money for illegal immigrants in fancy hotels ... 🤡🌎
