  • $20,000 for a Paint Job can sound pretty ridiculous to the ones who don't know much about what it takes to complete a project that involves a Paint Job….. there's a big difference between a paint job on a project!! I learned that one form a Boss out here in Oklahoma City! Big shout out to Kermit..
Yes, I'm aware that some shops will sit on your vehicle for no reason but then there are some that wanna do it right! $20,000 for a paint job can sound a bit excessive but there's definitely paint jobs that cost that much especially if you're leaning into low riders and tribal designs with a crazy amount of coats Etc… but here we are disassembling, repairing, and re assembling with a great finish! Don't forget to hit that subscribe button for me!

So I am looking at trying to get my 2018 Ram 1500 quad cab 6.4” bed repainted or rather a color change and I want door jams and under the hood painted with some body work needed on the left rear rocker of the cab, the tailgate, and the hood and right front fender and wanting the trim pieces on the bed painted also along with the grill, basically showroom quality type of paint job that will last 10+ years. I have gotten many quotes one at $7k out the door and he was saying he could have quoted me $9k but was hooking me up and was going to use PPG paint. And a few other shops quoted me $20-25k so my question is:
Is the $7k a great paint job or am I losing quality? Is $20k where I should be at for what I am wanting or is that overkill?

Man, I must say it’s a bit of a gamble at the end of the day, I would try to look at their previous work in person. Some people have spent $10,000 on a paint job at one place and spent 6500 at another place and the cheaper one still came out with a better quality than the more expensive one. But $20,000 on a paint job I would have to assume you’re getting top quality all the way around.. but…. Like I said that’s the gamble so I would highly recommend doing your due diligence on each Shop.

Damn, dude. I was about to upload a video when this video popped up. I'm 9 minutes into your video before I remember I need to upload mine. I put $10,000 into a 2004 Golf. It has not been painted yet. It's gold now. I would love to get it painted Audi green.

@@warrenlewis3977 I have had people to stop me saying they have been looking for a 2004 Golf. I've had the car for 3 years and I have yet to find one at Pull a Part here in Atlanta. It has the weak 115 hp 2.0. I tried to pay a shop to install a 1.8 turbo. I guess they thought I was broke. I offered to pay up front and they didn't want to do it.

Ive restored 6 cars since 2014. The only way to have rust free sheet metal is to have the car chemically dipped for a few days then dipped again in a rust prevention coating. At least 2-3 coats of epoxy then 3-4 coats of HS 2K primer. After the car returns from dipping you can see exactly what ur dealing with in terms of sheet metal condition. You also avoid the "open tab" statement. If they dont want to pay for dipping then dont warrenty the job, if they go elsewhere thats kool, you just avoided having to do the work over again for free under warranty. You also have to have $$$ in the bank so you dont have to be thirsty and take every job. I live in St. Petersburg Florida, these shops come and go mainly from not having capital and weak employees.

I bought a '69 Dart Swinger that came out of the original owner's hands. It came out of Central, West Texas. Part of the interior was gone (removed), the rubber floor mat trapped water against the floor board (so the forward footwells were trash), and it had the 340 replaced with a '68 Roadrunner 383 powertrain. I gave my buddy a deposit on it, went to Texas, looked it over and paid the money- here is the good. Factory AC gear still intact (but not on the motor, no biggie), never been smashed, not 5 previous owners, the guy somehow found the factory BB install pieces back in '78-'79 when he did the swap, body, the numbers will never match which is perfect for a restomod, & all solid; beside the footwell, of course.
We cut & replaced the entire floor, put in the manual trans hump, US Car Tool "Level 2" chassis kit (subframe, torque boxes, inner fender braces, 26" radiator reinforced core support), have the full interior kit (with Corbeau buckets & matching rear seat w/headrests set in the package tray)...when the car is finished, it'll be safer, more efficient, usable, comfortable. People don't understand that if you want to do it right, make it durable and maximum enjoyability..."Time & money"
