    It is amazing how Yuja Wang manages to stay calm and so beautiful through the huge physical demands of this piece. Although I admit that Sokolov's demented histrionics are interesting to watch as well

      David Lee for me, no recorded version on RUclips or anywhere else even comes close to the perfection of Vadym Kholodenko's version. everything about it leaves me awestruck. if you haven't seen/heard it, definitely check it out. (i also love his goofy faces, but that's irrelevant.)

      She plays the piano likes it's a typewriter. Blech. Her version of this piece is half volume and horrible. Comparing it to this is a joke.

    Presumably Muzisaful is American. No other nationality would express itself so coarsely or crassly. I suggest Muzisaful learns some manners. Vulgarity says more about the writer than the contents of his comments.

      And I humbly suggest that you Chinese should stay away from European music, since obviously you listen to it only if a fellow Chinese is playing, oblivious of the immense difference between a great artist like Sokolov and a media inflated but ultimately ordinary (though competent) player, like Wang. In music there is no place for nationalistic feelings. And Chinese too, apparently.

    Pollini sure is nothing compared to the legendary Sokolov. :|

      Non sono d'accordo. L'interpretazione di Pollini è altrettanto stupefacente e incredibile. Basta sentire la sua esecuzione alla Scala del 1980 per capire quanto fosse sovrumano.

    Yuja Wang plays this piece every bit as well if not better. And she is also beautiful to look at. Sokolov may give it a bang but I prefer miss Yuja Wang

    • @loboris1995

      It is indeed great , but boring as hell . There is more color and nuance on Sokolov's version .

    • @lockjiang
      @lockjiang 9 лет назад +3

      David Lee maybe I can put it in this way: Sokolov has the music at his command, as for Miss Wang, the music has her at its command.

      David Lee with such a demanding piece at hand, be the pianist Miss Universe, no one would look pretty. Look at those muscles and blood veins on the wrists, while playing the most difficult passages, unless you are into prize winners of Arnold Schwarzenneger Award, you wouldn't want to focus on the "looks" of any performers of this piece.

      Only those who don't know much about music will care body movement.It means you don't have the ability to analyze pianists' technique and interpretation.

      David Lee Add Yeol Eum Son to the list of great Petrouchka interpreters. She's the most elegant performer.
