That is so awesome man! I’m creeping up on being baptized orthodox at the end of Lent here soon, I grew up nondenominational and fell away from it in my teens, then found orthodoxy and i feel like a puzzle piece that was put right where it’s supposed to be. I needed that reverence, that seeing God as King and High Priest rather than like your homie who you play video games with, that desire to bow before the Lord of hosts at his high throne. Glad to see what God is doing for you man, keep praying from your nous!

Welcome back to Orthodoxy! It’s where it all started therefore closest to God. The church derivations that followed are more human made.
I’m also an addict in recovery that was baptized orthodox and got back to it after getting sober. Love your shares! You have a gift and I’m happy you’re using it to share Jesus!

Thank you for making this video my brother. I also follow you on IG and it’s honestly amazing how our walks are similar in so many ways. I’ve also been led to orthodoxy recently by the Lord. He 1st had me start with the Jesus prayer. And as I began studying more and more of orthodox teachings and the desert fathers, I realized how much of the teachings I had already put into practice, but being that I’m Protestant (grew up Catholic though) nobody really teaches some of the things orthodox does. I’m currently in that same position as you. Not quite orthodox, but also not quite charismatic. I do pray in tongues and have incorporated orthodox prayers in my prayer time. I don’t fit in anywhere, but yet I fit in everywhere. I feel like a ligament in the body. Can be frustrating but a blessing at the same time because people like us can find that common ground with everyone truly in Christ and not let doctrine separate us as the body of Christ. Blessings to you brother.

@@Joshua_kingdompriest thank you so much for replying bro. I definitely agree with you. I’m from Louisiana and there’s only one Orthodox Church in my area, and it’s still almost an hour away. Any other one, you’d be driving a couple hours. But what’s cool is that the closest one has Father Stephen de young as the priest. Not sure if you know who that is but if you don’t, you should definitely check out the Lord of Spirits podcast. He’s awesome. Theres been more and more people attending that church. The podcast is pretty popular among the orthodox world.
And after today, I have a good idea why the Lord is leading people more into orthodoxy, we need it in these times. Seen some strange things today, and all I can say is, the remedy is definitely the teachings of the church fathers.

The need to belong will lead to compromise.
Fear of rejection will lead to compromise.
In Jesus we belong, in Jesus there is no rejection, if you obey HIS commands.
So, stay in Him so that you don't look to man, and thus make an idol out of man, replacing what comes from God with what man can offer you.
I grew up Orthodox, very dedicated, and I left Orthodoxy because of the religiosity and hypocrisy of the people in the church, I ended up in sin, alcohol, drugs, fornication, parties, clubs, festivals for several good years. God convinced me that I must return to Him, because the demons were coming after me (I saw your testimony with the mushrooms) ... I saw gifts, speaking in tongues, healings, etc. but I COULDN'T integrate into any other cult or denomination, because they were too superficial ... but I couldn't remain Orthodox either ... it's been more than 10 years since God filled me with the Holy Spirit and it was revealed in a "Damascus road" experience and I "get by" without feeling the need to integrate myself into the charismatic/Pentecostal maladies nor into the Orthodox/Catholic idolatry that you are not yet fully aware of.
    I truly understand your frustration.
There are divinations spirits, because satan knows your name and his demons know your phone number, they are familiar spirits. Yes pentecostal/charismatic is sick in many ways ... After starting my youtube channel about 5 years ago people from all over (Romania) came to my and mostly where pentecostal or orthodox. I am aware of both problems that apare in both circles ... I hope you will find peace from God!
Jesus Bless you, and don't look to man to fill what only God can.

My church (as good as it is) is starting to rub me the wrong way and I’m seeking the truth. I feel as if orthodoxy could possibly be the truth and be the church I belong in. I will continue to pray on this and allow God to lead me but u always open my eyes with the stuff u post. Ur so relatable and God rlly speaks thru u directly to me sometimes I swear. Amen! That is one of the things I think we lack in the charismatic (and I don't really identify with that term, other than in we want to allow for the gifts of the Spirit) is the reverencing of God and not just knowing him as some dopey endorser in the sky of all things you want in your life. That lack of reverence has really led alot of people astray. Conversely, I think that some of the traditional forms have robbed alot of people of that personal aspect of God as "Daddy". I kind of see the traditional forms as the "truth" pedal on a bike and pentecostal/charismatic as the "Spirit" pedal and if you just push on one pedal or the other you'll fall over and not make progress. The way we move the bike forward is to pedal Spirit and Truth in syncronicity. Anyway, I've taken up way too much space here but just want to encourage you to continue pressing in and sharing your thoughts!

Yeah the charismatic churches are exactly what you described in my opinion. It’s just emotionalism. Personally, God has led me to a non-denominational specific (but closest to a Baptist) church, and it’s a “Bible-Church” and I’ve learned so much Bible in the past 6 months of attending. The Pastor is super solid and it’s a relatively small church where everyone knows everyone, which I love. I grew up in the false religion of mormonism, so I know firsthand how man-made religion and legalism can be. I totally believe Orthodoxy is great for many people. But I’m not one of those people that say “My church is the only real/true church”. I believe “the church” is the worldwide body of Christ/believers, and it’s a spiritual church not a physical institution. I’m happy to have a solid church and I’m so happy you have one too! It makes all the difference in our walk with God.

I'm very happy for you! I've also had a similar journey. You can also be orthodox and talk to God from your heart. Actually those morning prayers were part of some saint's personal conversation with God and aim to teach us how to ask Him for help, praise Him, thank Him, ask Him for forgiveness. But we should also strive to have a personal relationship with Him. Please ask Him to show you the truth about The Theotokos and just be open-minded to any answers. When you will understand the grace that God has given her to intercede for us, for her purity, for her one and only and most deep humility and that by her devotion to God she has brought Him on Earth to save us you will love her. Also she has such motherly love for every each and one who believes in her Son, that's it's a great shame to miss out on that.

Hey Congrats 🎉 I’m a new Catholic convert and have similar experiences, jumped around from Church to Church as a Protestant and It was hard for me to receive correction in those environments. I was dying for structure and became religious in that, like you said and I found everything was too chaotic and couldn’t develop the spiritual maturity I needed to. I Considered Orthodoxy myself but not a lot of options around me and I‘ve come to feel at home at the Catholic Church. I Was confirmed this Easter! I hear you about communion. Believing in the real body and blood of Jesus in the Eucharist changed my life and I’m still learning. The Orthodox Church is a truly beautiful historically rich church, the theology is deep too, so are the prayers. Congratulations 🎈

When I discovered the charismatic it opened up my Catholic faith so much, like a flower blooming. It also helped me break down the barriers to my Protestant brothers because I could learn from certain evangelical preachers. But we need a lot more Catholics to be exposed to the charismatic. I got saved in the Charismatic space. I thank God for it because it helped me operate in the spiritual gifts and created a better zeal for evangelism and actually believing God for miracles. Over time I did find many moments of frustration with the behavior that was unbiblical. I left Pentecostalism to find a different Charismatic church. It’s been good so far.
Another experience…I went to a prophetic service and the guy just basically gave everyone words of knowledge. I went because the girl said he was very prophetic, gifted, etc. I was stressed about some family things so I wondered if God could use it to encourage me in that season. I knew if he was truly prophetic God would use him. I walked away pretty disappointed. He just looked at me and said some random things that didn’t encourage or edify me. Maybe he’s gifted in words of knowledge but not the prophetic that’s for sure. Also he was oddly intimidated by me and I could tell. Which I thought was just as disappointing, if you’re speaking from the Lord you don’t have to know anything or come prepared to face skepticism or my chronic RBF 😂.
I’m still Protestant but I understand the frustration with irreverent behavior in Protestantism in general. Particularly forms of non-denominational Protestantism. But I’m currently in a nice orderly Protestant charismatic church. It’s everything I prayed for, except I do wish they did communion better. I think they are suffering from the effects that non-denominationalism can have on the seriousness of sacrament. There’s a lot of nice places without leaving Protestantism which was what I personally have been lead towards in my faith walk with Jesus. But I respect all my orthodox brothers and sisters. Glad you found a new space to grow in your relationship with Jesus.

I still take great issue with praying to saint and what not. And I’m not a fan of the Mary stuff either. (It’s not orthodox, but a scene of Catholics wheeling out a massive Mary statue and having festivitiesand prayer around it is still engraved in my brain from childhood, it bothered me then and it bothers me now.) I would be more in agreement with orthodox if certain things didn’t seem to be a requirement for their church lol 😂. So I pass on all that. I’m fine with icons, I love the saints I believe they are alive and witnessing our lives. But I really don’t wanna start talking to them asking for their prayers for anything. I’m barely encouraged to pray to angels. Im still trying to make sure my fellowship with God is good, I don’t wanna add people into that sacred time. I’m solid on Jesus being the only intermediary between God and man. My intercessor being Christ alone and his prayers being sufficient.

I agree with you on charismatic churches. I'm actually kind of going to one now. They say that they are not, but they are similar to one. I was brought up in the Catholic church, but I didn't think of going to one because like you said, I heard that some of what they do is demonic, like praying to saints and stuff. But you're right, the older churches respect and revere God more. They have structure. I feel like I need that. I mean, we prayed on our knees in the Catholic church. They don't do that in charismatic churches. When I did kneel, I think the pastor noticed because he was like "everybody up, everybody stand as we pray!" I was like, okay, I guess I'm gonna have to stand. I was raised to pray on my knees. I don't always now, but I do sometimes. I don't know if it matters though. But I like what I hear about Orthodox. I might check that out. Thank you so much for such an awesome video. Please keep putting stuff out if you can 😊. I need help lol and you're the guy I want to learn from (besides God of course).

I'm starting to appreciate different traditions and I'm sure the pendulum is swinging back to the more traditional renditions, but there are problems in each system, especially where you have fallable people involved. While the orthodox and Catholic traditions have a rich history and God has used them, there was always a third stream or remant of believers that didn't submit to some of the heresies (particuarly in the catholic stream) and were of course persecuted as heretics. So long as they don't succumb to the temptation of the enemy to use their power to suppress the truth, God still uses those streams and God will receive the glory. I think we need to be wise in whatever tradition we end up in and be very discerning and check whatever is spoken with the Word of God. There is alot to be learned from the traditions, but even Jesus warned about those traditions becoming traditions of man and subtly over time supplanting the truth and then God will have to judge his house again to purge out the unclean elements or wolves that put on the ceremonial sheep's garb. Love your story brother and i love to see how you dig into the truth! Keep seeking and you'll keep finding!

It's not hard, just look at each of the groups that were designated as "heretics" by the mainstreams and you'll track a path of those who didn't fit the traditional mold probably because they had become so moldy in their traditions, people are always breaking free from the traditions of man when the mainstream becomes so entrenched in dogma and doctrine and devoid of spiritual growth that there is always a remnant who God uses to provoke the mainstreams out of their traditions of man and the "form" of religious expression supplants the substance of spiritual growth. It's not a formal 3rd stream, just those who always tend to fall outside certain traditions but within orthodoxy , not cults. I don't have enough time or in a place where I can answer more thoroughly but the anabaptists might be considered part of that 3rd stream and many others all the way up to Luther who made a more permanent 3rd stream called protestantism and all of it's tributaries

    • @sdm101869
      @sdm101869 5 месяцев назад

@CettoTheCesco never said there aren't good traditions , I think they all start out that way, but just like israel, God gave them good traditions to help them recognize messiah but when they saw him they wanted to kill him. That's my only warning to my brothers in the mainstream traditions to not Let that not happen

    • @sdm101869
      @sdm101869 5 месяцев назад

Hmmm, I thought I had posted a reply but it didn't pop up. You won't find a formal 3rd stream like eastern and western but an amalgamation of many streams that were often condemned as heretics by the mainstreams because they didn't toe the line on the traditions of the church that all too often became traditions of man and God is always tweaking his church either by raising up prophets or those with dissenting voices as a means of correction. He did it all the time with Israel, why wouldn't he with the catholic and orthodox traditions ? He loves them too much to leave them uncorrected or unchallenged. It helps the church remain humble and therefore healthy. While I don't have the time required to break down 2000 years of church history, look for the third stream in those the catholic church often condemned at the time. Some justifiably were and should have been rejected but many others were just trying to be obedient first to Christ and his word before even church tradition. The anabaptists could be considered a part of that 3rd stream and many others like them that challenged the prevailing status quo while remaining faithful to his Word. Maybe others like the moravians and all the way up to Luther who made a third stream more concrete doctrinally speaking?

God is judging elements in the charismatic church right now, but he loves all who are called by his name. Your dead on about the prophetic and so little accountability. But praise God, he will bring the accountability. Best to remain humble in all things, yet don't throw the baby out with the bathwater like some of the cessationists tend to do.

Born and raised orthodox until 21 when I got born again
Searched God in ortodoxy for half a year after I heard His voice telling me "Return to me" and my response was "ok God but where are you so I can go to you?"
So my first thaught was well I am born and raised orthodox so probably that's what He meant because He didn't specify an religion
After seeking Him, reading the bible, praying prayers from a book of orthodoxy prayers, asking for signs to believe He is real, questions etc. along with practicing very serious the orthodox religion He revelead himself to me trough the person of Jesus
Mean time I was praying and asking who are you God because there are so many religions, just because I was born in a country and family who practice orthodoxy doesn't mean anything, what if I was born and raised as an muslim or budhist in another country?
And after that ofc He opened my eyes, gave me a new heart and trough the Holy Spirit He revelead to me that is not about any religion because all of them are man made but about relationship with Him
So now I don't practice any religion and don't really attend any church but I have fellowship with others who had encounters and had been changed by our Father trough Jesus sacrifice
Side node: and even if I was baptised in water as a baby, not because any man told me or any other religion pushed me to it, but reading the bible alone with understanding from the Holy Spirit I decided to follow Jesus exemple and I got baptised in water after almost an year after being born again of the spirit and being baptised with the Holy Spirit with tongues without anyman teaching me something, just me alone in my intimacy with God

Holy Mother Mary, the Mother of our God Jesus Christ was given to us as our Mother by Jesus on the Cross in John 19:26-27. John wrote his Gospel and wrote as the Beloved Disciple so that we, beloved Disciples of God, can envision ourselves there in the text. Jesus meant for us to see ourselves at the Foot of the Cross with His Mother as He gives us His Mother as our own. Jesus is our Brother and we are in the Family of God with the Communion of the Saints.
Jesus listened to His Mother when she asked Him to do His first miracle at the Wedding at Cana.
Do not be afraid, once I started believing that Jesus wanted me to love and revere His Mother as He loves and reveres her, I felt like I could be alone too. I thought I would be rejected but I eventually found my home in the Catholic Church.
God is leading you, so He won’t let you be alone without community. 🙏

I was surprised by how much I didn’t disagree with this ⤴️😆
It made me think of two things- the Scripture that says: “If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, he is known by God.” I Corinthians 8:2-3.
And also a story from Corrie ten Boom, when she was in a Nazi concentration camp and they had a New Testament in one of the barracks and would have evening worship sessions with Christians of every different denomination “They were services like no others, these times in Barracks 28. A single meeting night might include a recital of the Magnificat in Latin by a group of Roman Catholics, a whispered hymn by some Lutherans, and a sotto-voce chant by Eastern Orthodox women. …At last either Betsie or I would open the Bible. …And then we would hear the life-giving words passed back along the aisles in French, Polish, Russian, Czech, back into Dutch. They were little previews of heaven, these evenings beneath the light bulb. I would think of Haarlem, each substantial church set behind its wrought-iron fence and it’s barrier of doctrine. And I would know again that in darkness God’s truth shines most clear.”

‘God wants our heart and He’ll
Move on that’ AMEN. Labels and practices are just that, God looks deeper. Seasons are good and the lessons learned will equip you even more. but what Jesus died for is far beyond any religion. Please check out the few short videos I made.. the third one titled ‘the solution’ does a decent job if you can only click one. Blessings bro 👊

God revealed himself. At least I’m 100 percent it was divine. Not from this logical world. I want to believe in Jesus with all I have. I know god exists. I just need help. I’m going to aa. The conscious contact aa talks about happened to me. I just need advice. I pray god reveals truth to me. I will pray and ask his will to be done. And humbly rely upon him.

I wonder if you’re there to learn to reverence the Lord? Just like you said. Can’t find that fear and reverence anywhere else so God sent you to orthodox to learn it? That’s interesting. I’d be interested to know what happened after your Marian prayers. I’m also very leery of the Mary worship. I don’t think I could do it.
