Thursday and Kissland doesn´t get the appreciation both should have. The Birds Part 2 and Tears in the Rain are the true definition of what pain means, even if you haven´t gone through or experienced something like that before. Abel introduced himself as some sort of villain during his early years, only caring about himself and scrapping every single girl he encountered but in these tracks he realizes that not only he´s getting older but lonely and with no one who he can trust, not even himself
The birds part 2 isn’t even just about pain. It’s about the weeknds inability to love and Valarie’s final moments where she pleads and begs him to be with her but the weeknd already told her that she’s only allowed to see him on Thursday, so he continues to sleep with the other girl despite Valarie spilling her guts out saying “let me fall out of love before you fuck her” but The Weeknd is so emotionally out of touch and feels nothing… he’s warned Valarie of what he’ll do to her, that he is just a bird.. unable to love someone eternally, meant to be free. Valarie is dead and gone by the end of the birds part 1 and 2 (gunshot at the beginning that cuts off her crying, the weekend repeating that she’s on the floor) and The Weeknd feels nothing (or at least he continues to hide his pain with women and drugs) The song definitely is true pain, but not pain The Weeknd is feeling, but the pain he spreads and the tragedy of what happened to someone who truly loved him… it’s one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I’ve ever had the pleasure of hearing! Thursdays is easily my fav in the trilogy
I love the whole trilogy but Thursdays was just… a movie. So cinematic in the way it sets it’s moods and tells the story. I can’t say I’ve ever heard an album where a CHARACTER dies (cuz literally what albums have characters and character development 😭)and it hit so hard that I CRIED… it felt like I was watching an amazing movie and one of the main characters that I’ve come to love died…. Just masterful

After Hours and Dawn FM are better than anything he has made so far. Now obviously I’m not saying the other projects are bad, but lyrically, sonically, and aesthetically these two are easily the best.
Dawn FM is so overrated conceptually, the surface level tackling of the Purgatory narrative makes it way weaker conceptually than the concepts of manipulation and loneliness that were executed on Trilogy

Objectively Echoes of Silence isn't that good. Is his most underrated project, but is a little inconsistent, and it doesn't have an actual direction or concept
Imo the trilogy and kiss land era felt truly inspired and more original. thats why i appreciate them more. The lyricism, the atmosphere just the general vibe was dark and edgy. But when bbtm hit it became more experimental sounded more ig "modern" and that speaks for his newer stuff as well. They sound more commercial and pop oriented therefore IMO less original but there's nothing wrong with that, i like starboy mdm, dawn fm after hours, bbtm they're still great but i prefer the older records because the inspiration, The Weeknd character was truly shining. If that makes sense.

Bbtm is good but it’s way more commercial than his other projects. I think it’s MUCH better than Starboy and My Dear Melancholy but I think his other work surpasses ut
BBTM is one of my favourites, it has so many iconic songs. As an album, After Hours has no skips for me, but based on individual songs, for me, BBTM has The Weeknd's best and most iconic songs.

1) Kiss Land
2) Echoes of Silence
3) After Hours
4) House of Balloons
5) Dawn FM
6) Beauty Behind the Madness
7) Starboy
8) My Dear Melancholy
9) Thursday
6-8 are pretty interchangeable imo
kissland title track is gotta be one of my favourite weeknd songs ever. the vibe is unreal
Starboy is much better than Dawn FM. Starboy has a couple week tracks but Dawn FM has at least 5. That's way too many.
@@countyfactswailuigi Dawn FM feels more cohesive, like one big cinematic experience. Starboy is bloated. Tracks like Attention, Ordinary Life, Love to Lay, False Alarm add nothing to the album for me.
Dawn FM is a Far better experience than Starboy. like even the weaker tracks are far stronger than songs like Nothing without you, true colors and attention.
1. Kiss Land
2. After Hours
3. House of Balloons
4. My dear Melancholy,
5. Echoes of Silence
6. Dawn FM
6. Beauty Behind the Madness
7. Thursday
8. Starboy
Kinda funny how different tastes can be. Kiss Land is one of my fav albums of all time and to this day i turn on this record and listen to it from front to back and get something new out of it. But tbh i dont get how ppl can rank Starboy and BBTM that high when the other records are far more cohesive and enjoyable. Tracks like True Colors, Attention, Nothing without you, Dark times and Prisoner are some of his worst tracks in my opinion and they seem to accumulate in only these 2 Albums.
I agree with you… until you said prisoner. that’s my 2nd favorite off BBTM besides as you are
Very agreeable list and explanation.
I prefer your list to Anthony's honestly
Kiss Land is a masterpiece
Same here I can never get tired of kidsland till this day it remains my favorite album
Bro Thursday is his best work 💀
I will always be baffled when someone calls Kissland Mid or boring. I’ve never heard anything like that album….ever
Kissland is hands off one of the best music work ever made within the last few decades , and i don't give a f about him stating it as mid .
My personal ranking:
#1 After Hours
#2 Dawn FM
#3 HOB
#4 EOS
#5 Starboy
#6 MDM
#7 Kiss Land
#8 BBTM
#9 Thursday
After Hours and Dawn FM are better than anything he has made so far. Now obviously I’m not saying the other projects are bad, but lyrically, sonically, and aesthetically these two are easily the best.
Dawn FM is so overrated conceptually, the surface level tackling of the Purgatory narrative makes it way weaker conceptually than the concepts of manipulation and loneliness that were executed on Trilogy
@@javasumatra2361 agreed
@@javasumatra2361 it's not overrated nor surface lvl at all
@@javasumatra2361 It doesn’t actually. For once, we see The Weeknd character actually taking responsibility and showing telling other stories besides drugs and manipulation.
Dawn FM isn’t even top 5 of his greatest projects
For me
1. After Hours
2. House of Balloons
3. Echoes of Silence
4. Beauty Behind the Madness
5. Dawn FM
6. Thursday
7. Kiss Land
8. Starboy
Less offensive than the Melon list
Trilogy has left the chat
Good
Bump Dawn FM up to third and that's basically my list.
Why didn’t he include “My Dear MELONcholy
Echoes of Silence is so good istg. I’m glad it got first place. Songs like Montreal, XO / The Host and Initiation deserve more attention.
Worst to best:
Overall bad:
1. Starboy
Overall OK:

4. After Hours
5. Thursday
6. Beauty Behind the Madness

insanely based for putting echoes of silence at #1.. ive never really ranked his stuff but that really is his best: montreal, dd, the fall, initiation, the title track ofc,, its actually insane
Dawn fm above hob is crazy😭
I’m not gonna lie,Dawn FM is a very weak project compared to his other works.Maybe his second worst.
@owencarscityting615 Thats what i dont get. Idk what i have to smoke to like Dawn fm that much. The 80s influence was overdone at the whole point, i didnt need a whole album of it. Even if i do like the album, its by far his weakest, and most uninteresting album
@@LimitlessEntertainment826 most of the songs from dawn fm all sound the same😭
@@LimitlessEntertainment826 I agree with you lads. Definitely my least favourite Weeknd project. I like a couple songs off it, but there's so many weak songs that completely stink the project up.
Kissland top 5 album ever made period
The moment I saw kiss land so low I quit watching. Try again
Kissland is the most underrated álbum oat
L takes galore here bro.
I'm a weeknd fan, I'm an abelist

6. Beauty Behind The Madness

8. Kiss Land
9. Thursday
finally someone appreciating MDM and not shitting on it and calling it a mid and boring album
Objectively Echoes of Silence isn't that good. Is his most underrated project, but is a little inconsistent, and it doesn't have an actual direction or concept
Melon trying to make us forget his original 3 to House of Balloons
Kissland gets so much disrespect it hurts lol
Kiss land is underrated masterpiece
More like everyone’s glazing it
This guy isn’t a core fan he a hater tbh
God I love Thursday so much. The most nostalgic for me
birds pt 1, pt 2, rolling stones argggh soo good
The Zone is probably my favorite drake feature of all time as well
For me Kissland clears no album will be even close to this album
Anthony, how did you forget that The Weeknd made Graduation? Easily his best work.
Fantano basically hates music
Dawn FM is so underrated
Imo the trilogy and kiss land era felt truly inspired and more original. thats why i appreciate them more. The lyricism, the atmosphere just the general vibe was dark and edgy. But when bbtm hit it became more experimental sounded more ig "modern" and that speaks for his newer stuff as well. They sound more commercial and pop oriented therefore IMO less original but there's nothing wrong with that, i like starboy mdm, dawn fm after hours, bbtm they're still great but i prefer the older records because the inspiration, The Weeknd character was truly shining. If that makes sense.

3. Thursday
4. My Dear Melancholy,
5. Kiss Land
6. Beauty Behind the Madness
7. Starboy
8. After Hours
9. Dawn FM
big fan of all his records, he's been my top listened artists for a while now, already over 3100 minutes this year alone. even Dawn FM being at the bottom would be a light 8 to me, on the fantano scale.
That's almost exactly anti-chronological😄 what about Thursday is it that you like?
I feel like you. The latter releases have become too poppy and too much 80s synths and influence to my enjoyment. I feel like it's lost some of the uniqueness of earlier Weeknd
@@jialian93he's still doing impressive even with his current poppy attitude

Nice to see House of Balloons come up the ranks there 👍
As someone who is not fully into the weeknd (I've only listened to DF, AH and BBTM) I really loved BBTM how rated is it generally within his fandom? Because it actually is my favorite of his alongside DF
Bbtm is towards the bottom of the list for most fans. But the fans that like it, REALLY like it.
bBTM is my favorite, too.
Bro casually forgets my dear melancholy
this is such a weird ranking to me, cuz i don't agree with most of these rankings except thursday. I can respect it tho. my personal ranking would be something like:
