Now I want one!!! I want to create puppets for my 3 year old. I guess that the best way is to start from the bottom: a simple puppet and then move my way up, once I learn to use a sewing machine. But OMG this puppet is way better than any toy in the market. Love it
This is sooooooooooo cooooooooool. I wanna make puppets! I was just in the fashion district and I saw all of this foam and I was trying to figure out an excuse to buy some. lol
OH MY GOD, BRILLIANT!! I haven't made puppets, but do make stuffed animals, and am so glad my curiosity led me here. The clay technique solves so many of my woes, thank you! Cross disciplinary interest has got to be my favorite bit of advice, because even if you have no intention of doing the observed discipline, you can pick up amazing techniques that apply to your own discipline! One example was fursuit "follow me" eyes; I have an irrational fear of animatronics and fursuits, but the hollow eyes technique has been indispensable for my stuffed animals.
So good! I especially love hearing about the materials you choose to get your desired effect. The pipe insulation type stuff for lips I could guess at (and am really impressed by the look) but I was like, “headliner foam, brilliant!” Another great job, thanks for sharing with us!
Accidentally came across this video - HOW FUN!! Learnt sooo much about cloth pattern-making in just 10 minutes. Suggestion if possible - make the fin moving sticks out of clear plastic rods instead of black metal. They might disappear more. GREAT WORK. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! The clear plastic is actually super reflective and terrible for camera work because of that. I matte black is always best unless you are planning to key it out.
ONE DAY, I MEAN ONE DAY, I WILL DEFINITELY MAKE A PUPPET LIKE THIS. I've only been doing puppeteering and puppet building for 5 yrs, but I will work on something like this one day. If only I had the materials.
Dude, that's totally awesome sauce! That puppet is really impressive. I can tell that making puppets is so fun for you and everyone. Keep making new friends, Adam! 😁😊
Vive le poisson ! Love your work Adam. I have been recently working on adjusting your shark puppet pattern to fit in with a fish puppet that I’m working on. This video will put my new project over the edge :-) you are the art teacher I wish I always had. Thanks!
Great piece of work . I’ll look forward to watching the rest of your videos. Can I ask if you will plan to show how a puppet theatre can be made . After much searching, most videos are geared at small projects for children rather than professional or adult use theatres . Any thoughts or suggestions ?
This is honestly INCREDIBLE. I wasn’t familiar with puppet making until watching this video but now I can definitely consider myself a fan! I’ve always admired art forms like this that combine so many different creative skills into one. Your passion really shines through in your work and it’s so so beautiful. Little Salmon Friend turned out great and so full of personality! I can’t wait to watch some more haha! Subscribed!💕
I'd like to see you make a shark puppet in the same way you made this one. I've seen the shark puppet you made and it's cool, but I think it would look awesome made similarly to this one
L♡ve this... Need a Catfish one for SoapyCatfish Market...then one that you can show the actual bones the skeleton. Nice work! Really love this puppet.
I have a question of topic of this build and its really important SO I made a nose and covered with fleece but the back of it is all rinkled and messy I need to know how to fix it so it lays flush to the puppet head.
This was super insightful and cool and I love how rounded the salmon is they look goofy and friendly and docile. I’m just wondering why do you glue the fin fabric instead of sewing them? Also how can I learn more about the basic stuff about puppets like mouth plates? I really wanna learn to make an ermine puppet :D
What kind of paint did you use on the puppet to airbrush it? Guessing Acrylic with either water or alchohol? Can you also please let me know the ratio used approximately. TY
@@PuppetNerd : Good to know. I'll have to get some to try. BTW, last question...What was the glue in the polybottle/squirt applicator that you used around the lips? The video wasn't clear enough on my screen to make it out. It read "3 & " something. What's the brand and what's it called if I can ask? It was not in your list of materials in the description. Thanks for this video and in advance for your information... and your replies.
Hey Adam! I'm a first time puppet builder and was wondering if you could possibly teach how to make long hair for a puppet, like for a female puppet. I want to make a female puppet but don't know if I should just buy a regular wig and trim it to fit or if there is some way to make long hair for my puppet.
The urge to build a puppet suddenly grew 100000 times bigger
Yes ikr they look so cool but are so hard to make

I’m 58 years old and, since I was a boy, I’ve thought that puppet building was a beautiful vocation. Congratulations man, you’re living the dream!

I absolutely love this character, he’s so incredibly expressive!

Great work, Adam! I love that gradient shift of colors that the airbrush gets you.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it!!!
Обалденная рыбка получилась.👋👋👋 Спасибо за МК, обязательно сделаю такую, но сваляю её из шерсти.👍
Stumbling upon this video feels like I’m accidentally driving through Arlo’s hometown.
Love this fish, he is awesome. I just finished my first puppet build and it is a mermaid with full torso. Its taken 3 days but has been fun!
