    In this video I made Miss Mouse, the most gullible, single brain-celled resident of my made up little village, Dingly Dell! She was VERY HARD to make, but I learned so much, and I love how she turned out!!
    All the music is by my amazing partner / @jakehohsfieldmusic
    Thanks Jakey!
    Miss Mouse's voice was provided by my talented neighbor, Kayleigh Lascio!

    Oh my god, there is so much to unpack here. Firstly, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for including the steps that you didn't like. It was at times painful to see you yeet some things, but at the same time, your dedication and hard work was incredible to see. It's so rare to see a creator share those steps, but it is so relatable and it teaches you so much more as a viewer to see those steps. You get twice, or in this case, thrice as much techniques, insight, and secondhand satisfaction at the end result.
    Secondly, I'm so glad that you used cosclay. As soon as you mentioned 'animatronics techniques', a dreadful memory of seeing the current state of older animatronics dolls flashed through my head. Rubber decays over time, so your mouse has just become much more enduring and sturdier than she previously was!
    Thirdly... Gosh, I'm always in awe at the work you put into everything. The drawings (loved that X-ray one so much!!!), the hat, that poor, mutilated hat XD I got so excited when you mentioned making one from scratch, but in the end, maybe it's best that you didn't? I don't think it would've survived otherwise...
    Lastly, I loved the editing of this video a lot :D it's slightly less fast-cut than the previous one, and much more relaxing to watch as a result. Also, you're so lovely! Well-wishes and speedy growth to your bangs!
    Four questions, if I may: are the eye beads made of glass? Did you use Mod Podge to get them shiny? Did you use white fur for her snout and would raw cotton work? And are the ears themselves movable? Would you consider doing them in cosclay, the next time?
    Thank you for this wonderful video, I so much have an urge to craft a miniature animal too, now. She is so lovely and cute and wonderful, I loved that face reveal so much ❤❤❤

      Omg thank YOU!!! You are SO generous with your time, writing your comments, it is so kind of you and so great to hear your thoughts!! Agh, I’m so glad it was interesting to watch all the extra steps! I initially really wanted to skip over them, but in glad now that I kept it in!
      And yes!! I definitely worry about that with these little critters. I have some old stop motion puppets from 12 or so years ago with some pretty cracked and decayed latex hands. Luckily they’re removable and if I was desperate to keep using them, I could just make new hands, but it’s hard with Miss Mouse being that her legs and tail are coated in the stuff and fully attached. I extra worry because it seems like this project will probably be multi-year. I hope she can hold up through it! But also, I’ve kind of come to accept that all of these critters will need to go to the critter hospital for repairs at some point :)
      Im so glad you liked the drawings!! And I thought the same thing about the hat afterwards too! If I had woven it, I definitely would have had to just fully make another to fit the second head rather than just cut it up like I did! Time crunch win!
      I feel like I’m slowly starting to accept that viewers can handle one second of silence haha. Now that I’ve gotten over the hump of just making a video, it’s been fun to start really thinking about editing!
      Four answers:
      1.they are plastic! I’ve started to wonder if that’s okay in the oven though, so I probably should look into glass ones for my next critters.
      2. I used Sculpy glaze! I love the super shiny smooth end result it gives! I think diamond glaze might also work for it and be more cost effective
      3. I used white flocking for her snout. As for raw cotton, huh, I’ve never thought about it! But I think the fibers in that might be too squiggly? (Though I haven’t worked with it so I don’t really know) If I wanted to do a natural fiber, I think I would try mohair, and maybe flat ironing it.
      4. The ears are movable at the base, like they can move back and forth, but that’s about it. But cosclay is an interesting idea for sure!! I might be able to get some more rotation with them that way! I think I will actually have to try that on one of these next animals! Thanks for the idea!
      Thanks again for your thoughtful comment, and thanks for watching!! ❤️

      @@GoblinGirlStudio I did not even put in a fraction of the time that you did for your video, but it seemed respectful to leave a longer comment at all those steps. And yes, leaving in the 'failures' teaches us, fellow crafters and viewers, about what to avoid and what can go wrong. It's so much more valuable to watch this way! :) It's very much appreciated!
      As for the plastic beads: most plastic melts around 70°C or 105°C, which is below the baking temperature of polymer clay (usually 135°C. It might be worth checking out what kind of plastic beads you are using?
      Also, glass can explode due to thermal shock, so I'm not sure it is a safer choice. At the moment I don't have much advice other than 'use plastic with a melting point of 200°C or higher' or 'try metal beads'?
      I think I have seen some crafters use felt and cotton to recreate commissioned pets, but I don't know much about felting, so I might be mistaken there? Thank you for the material's name! I wonder if Vallejo's Water stuff might work for this, too? XD
      You're very welcome, you videos are so fun (your sense of humor is a treasure!), I love leaving comments like this :D I'm sorry to read about the cracked hands, but I squeed at the stuffed animal hospital mention 🥺🥺🥺 I hope your sweet mouse stays out of it for a long, long time! How's Loretta or Poppy as a name? Or Heather?

    • @GoblinGirlStudio
      @GoblinGirlStudio  7 дней назад +1

      @Roguechan so far I’ve been lucky and the beads haven’t melted when baked! So they must have a decently high melting point. But I do worry about any potential fumes that could come from it. Not that I’ve been smelling anything, but just want to play it safe. Maybe the best solution will be a toaster oven I can plug in outside! And omg, good to know about glass!! Definitely saved me from buying glass beads and having them explode in my oven!!!
      And you are probably right! There’s so many materials I haven’t tried, and techniques I haven’t heard of out there! And with most things, I think if there’s a will, there’s a way! Haha
      And I love Poppy! That’s such a cute name 😭

    • @Roguechan
      @Roguechan 5 дней назад

      @@GoblinGirlStudio yeah, they generally advise not to regularly bake polymer clay in an oven you also bake food in... Getting an outside oven will probably make less of a fume risk. Tbh, even if you can't smell it, there might be harmful fumes. Natural gas is odorless, for example, so they put in an artificial smell so you notice it leaking...
      And yes, there's thousands of techniques out there :D I'm so excited to see what more you'll bring, your enthusiasm and skill is infectious 🥰
