    Very nice. The least missed car type ever, since the R46 swooped in and replaced them on the same line.

      These cars are very similar to the R46 so its almost as if a replacement never even occured .

    I recently visited NYC, and I saw the transit museum. The R44 was there, too. It was a really cool train.

      Simple. Look at the stripe. If it has no stripe it’s an R46, if it has a stripe it’s an R44.

    Everyone mentions the stripes on both trains as the difference. But another difference is the R44s had the glass panels inside by the doors while the R46s doesn’t.

    So why are the remaining 4 car set r44 sitting at CI shops?

      Cause there either reserved for employees or are waiting to be shipped out to the SIR

      2. The R211S #100-175 will be delivered with 100-104 currently here in nyc rn
      The R211A’s 4060-4256+!will be on the A for the base order

    If the MTA would have taken better care of the R44’s instead of focusing to make them more advanced, they would probably still be here today.

      That didn’t matter. When they had the chance to fix the problems they didn’t do it because they had no cash, when they had cash it was too late for the NYCT R44s.

      ​@@Boypogikami132Clearly not true as they managed to store r44s in coney Island yard and some for the SIRT, and even in 2023 you can still see r44s in Coney Island yard

    They would have stayed in the system longer if the MTA over hauled them or rebuilt them

      The MTA Already did, but cause of all the damn graffiti, the main body frame of the R44 was deforming faster then it should which leads to the early retirement of R44s.

      @@JamesQuent they were supposed to be replaced by the R211 with the R46s but the damn graffiti and following acid bath made it so that they were unstable, meaning they had to be replaced by the R160s.
