I found a lot of guys saying that the bigger your wrists, the more punching power you will have. I find this hard to believe. I believe it to a certain extent. For example, a 6 inch wrist will more easily absorb your full punching power than a 5 inch wrists. But I feel like there's a point of diminishing returns after that. PLEASE READ BEFORE FOLLOWING THIS TRAINING REGIMEN. CONSULT WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN BEFORE DOING ANY OF THESE EXERCISES. This training schedule is NOT intended for extended periods. Shin splints SUCK... but they are temporary. It’s just over-fatigued muscle (the imbalanced shape of the lower leg is the cause of shin splints - the calf is large and can sustain a lot more exercise, while the front of the shin has much less muscle). Once it recovers, it should be stronger than it was before - thus, no more shin splints in the future. Just gotta be mindful and recover properly. • Re: 8x a week is excessive - Too much of anything is bad for the body, yes, but with a focus on proper form, recovery, and nutrition, I can confidently say that running 8x a week is not too much for the body. Especially since it’s not all long slow distance (LSD) runs. As mentioned in the video, these runs are split up into LSD, intervals, and sprints. Most Muay Thai camps in Thailand have their fighters run 10x a week, at around 16km (10 miles) per day. I personally think that’s slightly excessive, so I blended it with other running regimens that I’ve researched from other trainers and coaches. To anyone who is considering running upwards of 8x per week, I recommend that they be mindful of any pain or discomfort that they feel in their knees/feet/calves/etc, and take plenty of rest when needed. Pair that rest with massage, ice, and even ibuprofen if applicable. And also, be sure to gradually work your way up to this amount - don’t start running 8 days in a row starting today - start off with 1-3 runs a week, then increase it little by little in the following weeks.

I did track all 4 years of high school and would stay maybe an hour or 2 after practice depends on what time I needed to be home I did sprints and long distance I will gladly run so yes I’m still watching I love running
Long runs with sprints, exercices like slaloms, running backwards (while punching at the same time), head mouvement while running, lateral feet exercecies (also while running), at the end (3-10m Shadowboxing). I think if you find a way to mixed it up and make your runs more productive instead of just running straight foward, which is annoying, people dislike it and in my opinion it's a waste of time. On my end I do 2x8km or 1x12km per week (not on straight or flat ground). Wear good shoes (I recommend ASICS stable running shoes) don't forget to warm up with jump squats, ankle or feet , shoulders, hip rotations and you are good to go my friend :D
Brother I have been seeing your videos for a long time and I have learned a lot from you Be it footwork drills or muay Thai kickboxing or grappling tricks YOU are epic
classic Shane, to the point spreading the good word. wish i had a breakdown like this for first camp but for those still starting out this is legit and great for prep for a smoker too if you're not yet feeling an amateur bout but want ring time!
For hand-eye coordination, I HIGHLY suggest learning to juggle, and juggle for 5 minutes while balancing on an unstable surface of your choice (doesnt have to be so unstable you literally cant stand on it without breaking your leg, something like a railroad track would be fine)
Running for me has become comfortable, I enjoy running. So I've replaced it with these 30 or more minutes of heavy bag from youtube video. And I must say since then my stamina has improved a lot and conditioning overall. But you might say I run slow... Actually my personal best was 3miles in 20 mins and I wasn't even trying to achieve it, it just came from running constantly.🦍
@@kerwynwilliams3182 that's actually pretty easy for a competitive runner. 3 miles is about 4.5 kilometres, and in competitive long distance, we were trying to run 3 minutes/k, which is about 13-14 minutes for 4.5k
Not saying that's easy by any means, anyone who can do a K in under 5 minutes is doing very well. Just saying that the human body can accomplish remarkable things if you have the right physical and mental approach
I had my first amateur fight with 3 weeks training no previous experience and gave the guy a good go but wouldn't recommend it, the fitter you are the more you can work 💯
I've heard more than one high level pro boxer say they don't do any running, and their gas tanks are fine. I get my equivalent cardio through shadow boxing, bag work, and bicycle, though I do run while say...going to the store
8 runs a week is a ton. That might destroy your knees in the long run. When I was into boxing (sparring only) I would run every day and rest Saturday and Sunday so 5x a week. I like to think I had pretty good endurance/stamina
Definitely going to learn to love running. I’m a muscular guy extremely powerful but I have no cardio anymore. I feel like I have no other option in life but to fight for money so I’ll do what I gotta do to hopefully make a living for myself.
I used to be a fluent treadmill runner but I start to realize something about the treadmill it start to leave me a little tweaks pains in my knees so I just started jogging outside to this park that I go to and I can honestly say I don't feel any knee pains

Brother
I have been seeing your videos for a long time and I have learned a lot from you
Be it footwork drills or muay Thai kickboxing or grappling tricks
YOU are epic
Much appreciated, buddy 🙏
classic Shane, to the point spreading the good word. wish i had a breakdown like this for first camp but for those still starting out this is legit and great for prep for a smoker too if you're not yet feeling an amateur bout but want ring time!
Running very important for fighter, 3 years fight experience
For hand-eye coordination, I HIGHLY suggest learning to juggle, and juggle for 5 minutes while balancing on an unstable surface of your choice (doesnt have to be so unstable you literally cant stand on it without breaking your leg, something like a railroad track would be fine)
Really?
@@eyeofsauron2812 It helped me tremendously.
3 miles 20 minutes? that don't sound real
@@kerwynwilliams3182 my brother fighter usually do it in 18 mins. Even Shane the fight tips guy did it in 18 or 17 mins in his older videos.🤝🤝
3 miles in 20 minutes is fantastic. That’s a 1 km/4 min pace. Good job.
Awesome 💪💪💪🫡🫡💯💯
I’m not looking to box but I love the fitness side of it. Thnx for the vid!
I had my first amatuer fight in4 months after training , I lost but still I fought till 3 rounds and made him taste the canvas
Good luck in your next fight 👊
i made it past 3:34!! just keep in mind that violence is not cool, fighting should only be done in self defense, and RUNNING SUCKS!!!!!!!
I had my first amateur fight with 3 weeks training no previous experience and gave the guy a good go but wouldn't recommend it, the fitter you are the more you can work 💯
Holy hell... did you say run 8 x a week? My life is about to change forever and hard!
I love this video and looking forward to more like it
Great topic... I need to have this
I've heard more than one high level pro boxer say they don't do any running, and their gas tanks are fine. I get my equivalent cardio through shadow boxing, bag work, and bicycle, though I do run while say...going to the store
Beautiful dog
I’m in my first fight camp now and man it’s brutal but having the most fun! Kickboxing match June 12th
Rock and roll, Stephen 🤘
Good luck
8 runs a week is a ton. That might destroy your knees in the long run. When I was into boxing (sparring only) I would run every day and rest Saturday and Sunday so 5x a week. I like to think I had pretty good endurance/stamina
Three runs a week is better imo
Definitely going to learn to love running. I’m a muscular guy extremely powerful but I have no cardio anymore. I feel like I have no other option in life but to fight for money so I’ll do what I gotta do to hopefully make a living for myself.
I'm on the third day of training for the November 6th fight ❤thank you
I completely understand why running is important because it’s the same strength and stamina you used to fight 💯if you can’t run you can’t fight
If you move to Texas ill be in the gym everyday with you!! 👊🏻
I'm a potential champ?? Hell yeah!! Now, I only need to sign to a boxing gym and I'm good to go😂
I’m about to start my amateur boxing career too and this helped a lot
How long did you take training to join the amateur boxing
omg...i really hate running....but i have stopped running due to my knee problem from playing basketball .... hopefully can continue to run soon
That's where u see Hajime no ippo is a quite realistic anime
Nah
@@opslol957 amazing argument, you've truly convinced me
@@gooberman172 lmfaooo
Nah
@@gooberman172 my man catches leaves for training is that enough?
Our sensei recommend we jump ropes to get good at kicking. It's well worth it. Great cardio
I’m 6.1 260lbs 32 years old. I love running 🙂
I used to be a fluent treadmill runner but I start to realize something about the treadmill it start to leave me a little tweaks pains in my knees so I just started jogging outside to this park that I go to and I can honestly say I don't feel any knee pains
I needed this 2💯🦿
Always growing, like a true martial artist!
2:13 road work
thank you
Very informative, appreciate the info
Still out here grinding for my first fight.
This is an excellent video!
Great vid, Shane!
