    That scene with the old woman is so god damn creepy. That's one of the few hints that this might be something beyond just a creepy old family thing, but something more cosmic and horrifying.

      Feeling philisophical rn. Was thinking maybe there is something to this,for better or worse.
      If the origin of life is either scientific or spiritual or both. Like if we have souls, our we're just particles. An accumulation of unnatural deaths might affect something else

      It was good acting.But the most important thing was that it presented that this is a cult with foot cultists. It is not just child molesting by some few, it is much more.

      (That's a man that's hard to catch -- when he's a master of disguise in both appearance and voice. Makes it hard for police to track him down -- everyone's got a different memory of him.)

    12:50 - This is still some of the best close-up acting ever, in any time period, any genre. Harrelson's face tells us every single thing we're not seeing on the tape.

      The acting from everyone throughout this season is top teir.
      Even the actors that only get one scene with a few lines totally crush it, every character is well realised and have a depth to them.

      @@deano2506 Yes, for me personally the preacher is the best example of that. Also the father of the missing child from episode 6, that performance is just haunting.

    He's wearing gloves because if you knew what was on that video tape, there's no way you'd touch it AT ALL, not me, don't even want it around to even suggest it's existence. It's too much.

    This series is great, and I love you guys and hope to God that you don’t go any further in this True Detective show than this series. It’s the only one worth the effort. The rest are shit…including the serious shit-show called ‘Night Country’, which is a complete waste of time just like the second and the third. Just a heads up bro’s….I would never steer you guys wrong.😎

      I don't know. I live in Europe (well, UK) and people generally don't settle beyond 4 generations in the same spot. People shift around, like in the US. No one remembers beyond great-great grandparents except for aristocratic bloodlines.

      @@danielrodio9 Yes, Denmark is a European country which has held on to its heritage and protected its people, I guess (never been there myself); but many West European countries are now being attacked by the elites - both financially and culturally.

      Think about it this way, in a nation that's less than 300 years old, being here more than 300 years means you've been in the US a while. My family was here before there was a US to be part of. We could say we've been here a long time, the ENTIRE time.

    Love your content, definitely give season 2 a shot - it's MUCH better than people say but it takes some time to get good, but in the end it's definitely worth it.

      Much different vibe from s1, think that's why it got such a backlash at the time, but taken on its own it's a good season of crime drama, s3 is also good

      Agreed.
      Season 1 was so good that it was inevitable season 2 wouldn't live upto the expectations many people had.
      As you say it's a bit of a slow burn but does get pretty good and is definitely of an above average quality.

      I would watch Season 3 first since it has a similar atmosphere to Season 1. Then Season 2, and skip Night Country, it’s only True Detective by name.

      I think his face was covered in grass - not sure if scar tissue can even grow a beard.

      @@deano2506 probably my favorite part of Marty’s acting just because of what we don’t see, but we can only imagine what he does, and you have to remember when he saw those kids in reggies locker, he was pissed and just shot him
      So you can only imagine what he saw in that video tape to make him basically panic

      @@deano2506 yep. Not sure if you’re familiar with the Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke, he’s known for that. But this was much more dark.
