Always the most gorgeous elegant lines. To me, what they were able to do was secondary, it was how they did it. Thanks for the memory, Kevin. I love them. The XKR S is magnificent.
I own a 2013 XKR. I bought it 2 yrs ago from a one owner with 15k miles. Everything was original, so I replaced the tires and got an oil change. This car is awesome!!! People talk about the electronics (not the best) but I didn't buy the car for the radio and have found work arounds for a great experience. The car drives great, its as fast as any "sports car" out there and believe me, I've been tried. The only costly maintenance has been new brakes and everyone beats you up on brake service. I had two oil changes because I put less than 15k on it per year. This car has been great and I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. OH! if forgot "THE SOUND IS AWESOME"
Thanks for the Very professional & informative video 👍 I have owned a 2014 XKR-S for 4 years and it has so far proved very reliable & relatively cheap to service at the UK Jaguar dealerships using their discounted fixed price servicing for cars over 3 years old. Add to this due its rarity, virtually no depreciation so far & this is proving the best value performance car I have owned. It’s a gentleman’s British muscle car, maybe a poor man’s Aston Martin Vantage & obviously not to everyone’s taste, but here’s my take on what’s good & bad! GOOD -rarity/depreciation, classic GT shape, awesome GT ability & also fun (but heavy) track car, old fashioned fun handling, deceptively fast & torquey engine, spine tingling exhaust note (fun even when not breaking the speed limit!), supple chassis & quiet comfortable suspension even over poor roads, good luggage space (including using the near useless back seats), very comfortable & good looking cross stitched front seats, posh looking full leather interior, fully loaded spec as standard, Many parts relatively cheap when compared with comparable sports cars. BAD -very dated clunky small screen infotainment system, steering a little vague, chassis can’t disguise the car’s heavy weight, definitely more GT than sports car (F typeR far more sporty), traction not great at times, Michelin PS4s a must otherwise twitchy handling, old fashioned interior, battery will go flat if not used for 3 weeks CTEK essential, Jaguar an image problem to some. Cars I tried before buying -Aston Martin Vantage, Mercedes C63, Audi RS5, Maserati GT, BMW M6 & Ford Mustang, all had their respective advantages & disadvantages so it’s just personal I guess! In a couple of years I’ll fancy a change, & will be swapping for either a Mercedes AMG GT or a Lexus LC500 when they depreciate enough to be within my budget, as they both have far superior interiors, go well, & give me that all important aural V8 fix! 😀
Thank you so much my friend for taking the time to share your detailed experiences/thoughts with us! This is very helpful and massive congrats on owning one of the last XKR-S models!
I’m on year 6 of mine! People at gas stations ask me “what kind of car is that!?” They seem to always be surprised when I say it’s a Jaguar. I have been tempted to do the smaller pulley upgrade
I’ve had them all… the XK, XKR, XKR-S… now have the XKR-S GT along with the Project7 and Project8…Love every everyone of them. People that don’t speak kindly generally have not driven them.
I think the interior is beautiful. The infotainment system was outdated when new. Mine has the sticky button issue that I'm going to have to deal with. Ferraris and Lambo's have the same sticky button issue.
Only thing go wrong with it is the water pump. But i heard it was revised to a better model that won't break and u get it replaced with that 1 and problem solved. Also recommend removing as much OEM coolant as you can cause it bust pipes and cause leaks and replace most of it with some peak global lifetime coolant and it works better and the pipes don't feel as hot as the OEM coolant gets them.
There's a 2012 on my town for $30K bro.... 46K mile car but I'm not permanent at my job so nobody would finance me it even with me putting some down... still a 12 year car so almost impossible to get approved to begin with.
Thanks for the video. This car was never on my RADAR, but the exterior styling is great. You're right that the interior is a bit suspect, and the black doesn't do it any favors (beige in the lower trim looks much better IMO). I also agree with you on the MB interiors. I'd go a step further and say that all MB products from this time period had terrible interiors. They're so bad that I can't consider any of them, though I like many of the convertibles from this period. The 2015 S-class redesign fixed that.
Yea my friend interior is a bit sad and of course the never ending reliability concerns of JLR isn’t cool either. S class Benz is definitely legit even E class is not bad just the low end benzes sadly feel terrible on the inside.
@@MeynMotorGroup I never liked that vintage MB interior design language. It was much better during the 2000s. You're right about JLR reliability. I've never experienced it first hand. I've thought about trying an X-Type, but I don't think I'd fit and the lack of side sun visors would be annoying.
Still too expensive on the market. I actually was considering either a good deal '09+ XK or XKR, or F-type, but despite good number of listings they seem to be as stubborn as housing market... Ended up with a good deal on 14' 981base, but still keeping an eye out for an F-type. XK becomes too old to find in a good shape, imo.
I’ve noticed on the housing side, if their overpriced house does not sell, they just take it off the market. People don’t even care if their stuff doesn’t sell, they simply will not budge on the price.
So the funny thing is, I remember distinctively around 2013, Jaguar made a statement saying they are working hard to improve their reliability/drivetrains. Fast forward and I test 2 new JLR products, an F Pace and a Defender. Both brand new and had issues in my 1 week of testing. Pretty sad
Honestly I don’t even understand how they can F up so bad, like it’s been 10 years since they put out that statement. They gotta be doing this on purpose there’s no excuses for a multi Billion dollar corp to screw up their own products like this unless it’s on purpose
I would worry about reliability, based simply on well-earned reputation, but perhaps these cars will never be driven enough to really find out. Ironically, leaving them sit is prob worse than driving them for bad things to happen. Who knows. Lotta fun cars in this category. I'd easily pick an Evora over this. If you're going for a weird British car, Lotus is better than Jaguar. Plus the Lotus has a Toyota drivetrain which will last.
My 2010 XKR has been my daily driver for the past 10 years and 203,000 miles. Besides being the best automobile I've ever owned in 55 years of driving, it's also been the most reliable! It's still a pleasure to drive everyday.
You seem to have reviewed something that you know nothing about... the XK family is solid with the exception of those who don't know how to care for their cars.
