I'm learning Jazz piano as a beginner who can at least read music and this comes very handy. I know there's a pdf book and I'll definitely buy it. Thanks.
Just what I needed, pure examples, love the way you show things, first the actual lick, then the supporting chords in basic form and slowed down for easier learning 👍
The slowed down versions really show how polished these runs are, albeit it reminds me of an 80s sitcom returning from a commercial.😊 Do you have one of these for Minor 251s?
Hi! Thank you for your message. I have a book with quite a few minor 251s if you are interested: www.juanortizmusic.com/product-page/20-essential-jazz-phrases-all-keys Best! J
Hi, you are very welcome 🙂 Answering your question: of course you can! As long as the chord progression you are improvising over is the same, or at least very similar. Hope this helps, Best! J
@@JuanOrtizPiano Thanks~you are so kind J~In fact, I have practiced some licks before, but I found that I could not always use them, so I was wondering if there is a relationship with my solo context, that is, ' the whole thing now I can play' and 'licks' are not quite match. For example, at this stage I can play some bebop(wynton and barry style), but I can't play chick and mccoy style(modal jazz)~Oh looks like I've solved the problem myself🤣🤣thanks again J!
Hi! Take these phrases like words of a Dictionary. You can learn these “words”so you can use them later on during your music speech. But same as words, sometimes they are just not the right ones at a specific moment. Best thing you can do is memorize some of them and try them during your solos. If it sounds wrong, try them again until you make them sound right 🥸🎹
Hi, thank you for your message. This PDF includes 100 licks in various keys, but doesn’t include every lick in every key (it would be too long). Hope this helps. Best! J
