I always get a kick watching Americans on Asian carrier business class and see their reaction, it's like watching Alice in Wonderland.
The level of service and attention to detail are impeccable.
Here in U.S., travelers have gotten used to crappy service, cramped seating and inedible food, it really says a lot about state of U.S. travel.
It's nice to see a vid blogger having the consideration to whisper so he doesn't disturb other passengers, most are not this considerate.

3 in my family were lucky to be upgraded to business class years and years ago (one-way only, to destination).. they didn't have these nice individual enclosed spaces/nooks like they do now, but it was still a very nice experience. I guess they had some customers looking to buy economy class seats and had extra business class seats to spare! Wish I could figure out what tricks there are now to get the same without paying the high prices they cost now!

I totally agree that CI is a great airline, and underrated. I have flown them in all three classes and the service is always superb. I love their crockery and uniform. It's a shame that they haven't changed their name yet, so that people won't associate them with the PRC. 12:26 The wood is supposed to simulate that of the persimmon (fruit) tree.
I hear you about the name. It seems to be confusing for many people, and I wonder if they have considered changing it. Thank you for the tip on the persimmon wood!

Your experience reminds me of the days when cross oceanic air travel was grand. My first flight across the Atlantic was on BOAC … a VC-10 no less and they served hot roasted duck au jus with all the trimmings. Linen too. Looks like flying China Air brings it all back in style. Now about all those teas ….
Wow! I just checked out the Vickers VC10. Beautiful plane. That’s pretty amazing they served duck au jus, makes me wonder how they coordinated all of that back then without modern technology.

Since I have travel experience in that part of the world, Hong Kong Taiwan and the Philippines, the way I see China Airlines is that they are better than the Filipino flag carrier Philippine airlines. Which is why you see Filipino passengers traveling on CI for CEB and MNL🇵🇭 via TPE🇹🇼 from LAX. Skyteam Alliance wise you cannot use CI Dynasty Flyer🇹🇼 and KE🇰🇷 Skypass on DL Skyclubs🇺🇲 which are LAX EWR Terminal B JFK Terminal 4 however the reverse actually works DL Skymiles on KE🇰🇷 and CI🇹🇼. If you have time you can do Taipei to Manila on CI or PR and then back to LAX on PR112/102 from MNL.
I am not use if you have United Mileage Plus because it can be used on competitor EVA Air Star Alliance. Taiwanese CI & BR > PR which is actually the oldest airline in the region Hong Kong Taiwan Philippines. US 3 DL AA and UA nothing to their Asian Partners Skyteam CI🇹🇼 KE🇰🇷 MU🇨🇳 Star Alliance NH🇯🇵OZ🇰🇷CA🇨🇳BR🇹🇼TG🇹🇭 SQ Oneworld JL🇯🇵 CX🇭🇰. Also applies to their European partners

Just saying, if you're ever in SFO, flying China Airlines, and have the opportunity to use the lounge (which is exclusive to China Airlines), don't expect a whole lot lol. Of course having a lounge is nice, but it's fairly small and isn't crazy good. Although it's been around 4 years since I've been there, so things may have changed.

Looks really nice, but it sucks that they don’t have a door for more privacy like with Delta One although delta hasn’t flown to Taiwan because of political pressure. Taiwan definitely underrated and I think people are very welcoming.
I’ll have to check out the Delta One seats! I wasn’t aware they had a door. That’s pretty cool.
@@thebuccilist yep. You get your own individual suite which was pretty cool. At one point, they were using those planes on the A350 flights from Florida to California, but I don’t think they do that anymore which sucks. Last time I went to Taiwan in January 2020, I tried the Delta One from Atlanta to Seoul. Got very lucky with the upgrade… $450 one way. Must’ve been a glitch. Totally worth paying that money. Now, I’m looking to go back later this year and it’s like 9000 round trip from Florida. 😫
Was mask required during the whole flight?
It was, yes. I’m not sure if that’s still the case two months later.

Why is everything "insane"?
I'm thinking about taking this flight in June. But it's a no-go if they still enforce the wearing of the stupid masks. No way am I wearing a muzzle for 13 hours.
I hear you. Taiwan just lifted their mask mandate, but I suppose it’s up to the airline whether or not they can enforce it. It wasn’t terrible though.
The lounges are disgusting. Really pulls the experience down. Not good. Like something out of the filthy dark ages. Totally unacceptable out of SFO
Oh wow. Really? I had heard they were a mixed bag.
I am on CI 3 now. I will let you know about TPE. But SFO was a true sty. Inflight has been good. Cabin is handsome but really worn showing its age already on the 777-300 ER. Food is odd. Tried to be fancy but odd. Crew is amazing. Way better than Cathay but not up to QR. I am only on this because I misconnected due to AA issue in Seattle trying to get to NRT then HKG. No gate for over an hour. No rebooking, Had to fly PHX to SEA misconnect then AS to SFO. Wait seven hours for CI SFO to TPE then two plus hour connection then short hop to HKG. All in 40 plus hours. AA fails big time on this and was so unhelpful to an Exec Plat on at $7k plus ticket. I may follow Patrick over to UA and Star Alliance. Enough of AA non service.
Taking this flight in BC in May to Thailand.. The privacy of the seat means I'll be able to use my travel CPAP in peace....🥰🥰🥰🥰

@@thebuccilist My very first Thailand run was back in 2001 on a China Airlines 747...Flying CA for the first time in many years because United got stupid and greedy....Delta is my US carrier for this trip!!! Taipei is a wonderful place!!!🥰🥰🥰
