I recognize this as the model that my uncle bought in 1988 (after some luck with the horses) and he gave me the Toshiba V5470 it was replacing. I am surprised that this is a 1984 year model. I would definitely peg at around 1988 unless my memory serves me so badly.
I think as it was a UK machine and Betamax was not selling well the models were sold for several years after they were released. I'll do some research on this though and let you know. Really love the Toshiba v5470.
So I'm based in Denmark, planning a drive to the UK next year to visit a friend for about three weeks time. I own two Beta decks, one a PAL deck (same model as the one in the video) and the other a late NTSC japanese hifi deck, each having their own small, but yet somewhat troublesome issues. Unfortunately, my quest to find someone local being able to do repairs on my decks have so far been unsuccessful. First, how can I get in touch with you regarding explaining in full the issues with my decks? Second, where in the UK do you live? Due to bad experiences, I'm wary of shipping such delicate electronics and would rather prefer to take it in personally.
My F30 won’t eject the tape and someone suggested the Mode Switch might need a clean. Could you point me in the right direction to find it by any chance? 😊 Thank you 🙏
There isn't a mode switch but there is a leaf switch - it right at the back of the deck (looking from the front of the machine) and it's accessible from underneath the deck. It is possible to clean the contacts with an emery board and it can be adjust too. Is the stuck tape showing as loaded when the machine is on (should be a tape symbol in the clock display). There are also two leaf switches under the cassette itself - one for record protect but the other is the tape-in switch and I have had issues with these in the past too.

@retroteque5120 I do repairs although have paused this for now but are you in the UK? These are great machines and really one of the best for Beta duplication of non-Beta HiFi tapes so well worth looking at. If that's of interest drop me an email to mrbetabyte@gmail.com
hi having a hard time with a sony reel to reel done all the caps tested trans as well got to be dry solder some where i am very hot with reel to reel decks betacam as well sorry about emails about them new toy to me you see i have to start on the juck hi-fi one when i get to were i keep them i just know they are hell coming up sorry i have to watch all your video's on the 100 line decks this why i went to betacam sp i am finding they are better for me in the long run
First thing to check are there are no cracks in the bottom print circuit board - this common gets damaged where the centre PCB plastic peg is. Even if it's not damaged, remove it.

I have this machine.
When ejecting, it pulls a long loop of tape out of the cassette, which is annoying.
Especially if its an expensive tape!
