I love this game to death, and i’ve played it more than 10 times since release, but the story could have been written a bit better. The way you deliver it here is so much more clear cut than how many of the events are presented in game.
The "4th wall break" was a little underwhelming compared to the other games too. When the Nexus started deleting memories she should have opened up the game code and started deleting memory banks or something.
The crazy thing is the developers and writers actually slipped a clue on one of the art pieces. It depicts a woman who resembles Gloria praying to the Water Crystal, but has longer hair while wearing a white dress instead of the black vestal garb Gloria wears. It was revealed to be Inanna, sister to Musa's king and I want to guess at saying Gloria's Aunt. Considering that she hails from the royal house of Musa, her connection to the Crystals (specifically the Water Crystal), and the fact that the fairies did recognize Gloria bearing a striking resemblance to the human who visited the fairy village of Mag Mell before, the coincidences are too similar to ignore.
After a long absence from the game I finally beat it (thanks Elden Ring...) This game pulls no punches in regards to human atrocities and I love it. Just wish the ending was more fleshed out.
I hear ya. It feels like they ran out of ideas/time after the first false ending. Overall, the game was alright, just not on the level of Bravely Default or Second.
@@kitsuneking6969 The big problem is that they hid important plot points behind out of the way books or didn't put it in to begin with. Like the fact that the girl on the cover isn't Gloria but the Night Nexus herself in human form
The biggest thing I like about the game is that it removed the village sim mechanic that gated away special combat moves. God I hate those so much, you couldn't really play the game at your own pace if you had to constantly wait for upgrades to finish for hours on end. Grinding got infinitely easier, too. I wish all future BD games had constantly improving grinding mechanics.
@@OniBlackMageI don't recall having this same issue with the first game but perhaps it was due to the Norende mini game that the down time between sessions seemed like they had a purpose. I know some people shit on them for halting progress but in retrospect I usually knew whatever I'd have to wait for would usually be worth it. I put BD2 down for months on end and have very little reason to come back to it other than finishing the story and the interest of collecting all of the cards which is more luck based than anything.
If you have problems with the bosses, Phantom Level 12 with Salve-Maker Paralysis makes every boss easy. Or Oracle Job. Use "Elemental Supplement" on the opponent. Equip your group with elemental protection of the selected element and you are save.
You fight consumed edna Nexus click on that saved game get a vision about your previous fight then go to Fairy Village then fight Nexus in the fairy village get destroyed by it again click on that save file again get enter game again prior the boss fight go find all asterisk then go fight Sir Sloan at his grave to obtain his brave bearer asterisk then go into load menu load the purple save enter the game again learn the truth about the old lady and Nexus unlock the Island of Nexus make a front line assault into the Nexus main stronghold and fight the true nights Nexus and either win or have Seth die to one's line cut short.
I might be the only one under impressed with this game. I was rubbed wrong by it, but a number of people are lifting this game up so I'ma give it another try.
You gotta list your gear too bro, cuz idk how you did it. It's special move that removes earth immunity makes it a problem even at level 69+ (yes I'm far overleveled at this point) and just in general excuse me how the hell did you get past Folie and other bosses? You playing easy mode?
I very much enjoy Bravely Default II. Of the series, Bravely Second was my Favoite. Anyway, if I were to complain I would Say that Bravely Def II played it a bit too safe with everything. I was hoping for a ridiculous story called Finally Brave (or something else super cheesy). I don't know. I shouldn't complain after playing BDII for soooo many hours. Obviously I got my money's worth.
I liked it for the most part, and its highlights are mainly mechanical and quality of life. It's the series' best so far in job outfit design, job balancing, boss balancing, and general grind (way less of it, none of it needed and the JP Orbs are so common and good). Personally, I loved BnD and much preferred the boat vs the town social mechanic. The music is still fantastic and the meta twist was clever. I would watch my review for the finer points on what worked and what could have been better: ruclips.net/video/GcsdWo5Sw_0/видео.html
@@OniBlackMage Oh yeah, I remember watching your review way back then. I was curious to see if your thoughts might have changed on a second playthrough. Personally, while the relationship between turn speed and weight was neat, I found it wasn’t balanced very well since your base weight could barely hold onto a full set of whatever the current town’s shopkeep held. I recall weapons being insanely heavy, making it difficult to do some wacky shenanigans of the past like dual wielding or trying to hold a really good shield on a mage. It’s even more painful because the only way to get more is spending an Ability slot, 2 accessories, or leveling up, which I never found very satisfying solutions to the problem. Also, counters were really frustrating and I felt like it discouraged pretty much any sort of offensive Braving at a certain point because bosses were BRUTAL with it. Also, for JP farming, I think I was doing the lure method into late game boss rematching, but I’m guessing you were Wiki-Wiki stealing? And yes, BnD was surprisingly very addicting haha
I was really disappointed with this game. I really like the first two entries in the series and it's not like the game play was worse or different from the other two. It's just that I really was expecting a deeper twist than the one that was delivered. Not really a problem of the game itself more like a problem with being compared to the first two entries. The post game content was nice and all but I was waiting all the time even through the credits for "something more". Again not a problem with the game itself more like me having to high expectations. Nice video like always by the way.
I agree, I was expecting a major twist to happen as soon as Adam was defeated like in the previous games, but the smaller twist that did happen after beating Edna wasn’t nearly as impactful.
Yea if the main baddie had the ability to jack your game and set up its own hidden save which in return makes them pretty much invincible unless that save is unlocked by the player yes.
I got so bored of playing the game that I decided to uninstall and just watch you talk about the story.. Bravely Default and Bravely Second were better..
I wrote a review on this game once : ruclips.net/video/GcsdWo5Sw_0/видео.html
I love the clap back against Godspeed Strike.
i felt called out.
I mean it's a really good strike though

It’s been awhile, great video as always you love to see it. Can’t wait for that Utawarerumono trilogy RECAPitation
I played this immediately after Octopath, and it completely filled the void that Octo left behind.
Way better than octo

7:38 "her vagrant story" very slick
Last bosses were excessively time consuming so I watched your recap instead. Thanks so much for your content 🙌🏼
Funny little callbacks like Anihal's 'vagrant story' is the reason why I watch this channel.

Love the recapitation series, its like a nice podcast

Really appreciate the recap! I took a break and this helped pick up without starting over.
I know that feel, especially in a mechanic-heavy rpg. I come back and I forgot what my setups were and how combat works. How far along were you?

29:44. Good thing the Night´s Nexus didn´t have Cloud Storage for her save data (like Playstation Plus).
Amazingly done Oni. 👏
Now I will Bravely Default 2 a state were I patiently wait for the next RECAPitation.
Nice... I never finished the game because of its slow and repetitive grind. A Recap is more than welcomed.

you have no idea how long i have been waiting for this
21:43 ඞ
13:17-13:23-13:27-13:32-Now, that's just evil.
In retrospect, this whole sequence was dark even for the Bravely Default series.
This was great. Thank you Oni Black Mage.
Dope. Please do Suikoden 2 and tactics Ogre.
Would love to hear you recap the assassins creed series, those games are fun.
Love your channel bro!!
That final boss theme tho
This game more brutal than I thought lol
Had some nasty boss fights
I got filtered at the french girl with the paintings so I gave up on it and came here. thanks.
The phantom menace.
Is there a patreon tier or an amount of money I can give you to recapitate certain games?
I do take commissions, but you would want to email me your desired game and I will tell you my price.
@@OniBlackMage where can I find your email?

I loved this game!!!
Nice!
I am present for the premiere lets gooo
But one thing i dont understand IS Why Edna hated humans, because at one point Adel says about her sister that she liked humans. Si what changed? 🤔
She was corrupted by the Nexus.
Waiting for their next AA titles: Octopath 2 and Various Daylives (i love the names lol).
Octopath 2 was great. Various Daylife not so much.
I defeated Jörmungandr at level 27.^^ My party was: 2 Shield Master/Bard, Vanguard/Gambler and White Mage/Gambler.

21:44 oh no
I hope they give the bd devs more budget so the 3d models look a bit less chibi and more proportionate to the 2d art
The moral of the story: fairies can’t be trusted
"Airy Lies".
But it was Gloria's own ancestor not a fairy this time though
Moral of this series but yes
Finally.
I still don't understand SEs logic on naming their third game of a series Bravely Default II when Bravely Second exists.
it's cuz bravely third wouldnt fit it, unless it was a direct continuation from the dangling threads from 2nd- I'm looking at ringabel X)
They share a different universe, and they might plan on an actual “Third” sequel
It's final fantasy logic ,it never makes sense
The numbers seem to denotate a new universe
Easily the best bravely, good video

I think it was better than second, but bravely default is unmatched.
The real bravery was giving a numbered sequel to a title franchise. The third brave sounds cooler then the second sequel right?
I bought it and never finished it

Took you long enough.
bro shut up
worst game in the series, 2nd was the best game bar none.
You should do the Dragon Quest line of games.
