I'm a gun loving Brit living and working in Houston TX. God Bless America and God Bless Freedom. Most Europeans simply don't get the fact that here in TX you are treated as an adult by the law, not as a child. Pistols, Shotguns, Semi-auto and bolt action rifles are pretty easy to own. As said only when it comes to suppressors, full-auto weapons and short barreled rifles and shotguns does the Federal Govt. get involved and want their pound of flesh in the form of "tax stamps". It's a constant battle due to potential Democrat gun grabbing laws trying to be passed to limit certain of these - but here in the Lone Star State we would pay them no never-mind anyway. One of our State mottos is literally "Come and Take It". Stemming from the Texas War of Independence when Mexico tried to confiscate a cannon from the town of Bexar, TX.

@@AttestedArk1202 I'm a great believer in the motto "I wasn't born in TX but I got here as fast as I could". Green carded now, going for citizenship next year. And if you think I'm Texan you should see my wife. She was always a horse girl but now she's got two, plus a bright red Ram 1500 and a trailer to haul them in. Jeans, boots and trucker cap on backwards when she comes home from the barn, blaring Luke Bryan on the sound system. Even just got her LTC. Packs a Beretta APX Carry A1 when walking the dogs. She's a class act. 😍
As for me, Glock pistols, Browning shotguns, a few ARs, a couple of Savage bolt actions (.243 Axis and a .308 110 Tactical) and probably my top rifle is a Tikka T3x TAC A1 in 6.5CM for really long-range precision work. Oh, and a hand built 10-22. In fact many of my rifles were built by me, especially my ARs.

    Hey Johnny, welcome to Texas!
I am actually an Australian but have been a permanent resident in Texas for 15 years and for someone who has had a responsible interest in firearms all my life- it has been a good time!
The press in Australia and the UK expound a plethora of negative crap about firearms ownership in the US and they have political reasons for doing that. The bottom line is that the vast overwhelming majority of legal firearms owners in the US cause no issues and experience no issues throughout their entire lives. Demonizing firearms and disarming the public are political agendas disguised as public safety and a way of smoke screening the real socio-economic issues.

Hanging out in the backyard around a bonfire they blatantly admitted that they had no idea how much better it was here versus where they’re from in limerick Ireland. When the two boys they had graduated both the parents had moved here and now live in San Antonio and are now US citizens. They turned their backs and their country to come here for a certain reason and until you live here you’ll never know what that reason is. As citizen of central Texas, who regularly drives from Austin to San Antonio, I feel I must let you know. What you saw off the highway was actually limestone quarries and cement plants. Texas has massive ammounts of limestone rock, which is a key ingredient for cement / concrete. If you were to be in just any other general region of Texas, you'd see loads of drilling rigs and oil refineries but central Texas sits on a huge aquifer "Edwards Aquifer" so no drilling or refinement going on here. The drive from SA to Corpus Christi is shockingly full of refineries.

Even though I’m a Missourian I feel Texas and our state have much in common. And surprisingly you find a more cowboy look here in the country than some places Jen texas. Texas has such a great culture and truer “American” feel to it. I’m glad you had fun here in the states and aren’t full of resentment and distaste like some other tourists might be. Great shooting and welcome to the states! 🇺🇸

Texas is the big brother of the conservative states. Arkansas is like the broke little brother, Missouri is like the little brother that doesn't get much attention, North and South Dakota are the forgotten brothers, and Louisiana is the drug addict brother. Florida is the homo brother. Still trying to figure out what it is.

If you want a cowboy experience you can always try going to the cowboy state Wyoming. In the small town of Cody there is the Buffalo Bill Center of the West that has a fantastic firearms museum and being a small town you could get a exclusive tour with the quarter. Also you could visit Yellowstone National Park it is in the area.

Fishing, off-road driving, racing, physical sports (mostly American football) and barbecuing are all very common pastimes and most cities have a pretty decent nightlife.
I'm personally a history junkie, I like looking for fossils and native American artifact ( were you're allowed too ) and visiting the various museums and monuments throughout the republic.
